They have a cafe inside of the restaurant that operates as a separate business. It's really good. Service is very attentive. The espresso was fresh, and the baked goods were made fresh in house. Overall, 100% Now, as far as the pizza side of things, mmmm, not so good. Everything about it oozes, "frozen pizza." Even thought they clearly make it all there, it somehow seemed very off. The sauce was way too garlicky. The cheese seemed off. I just wouldn't have pizza there again. read more

Hillside Bar & Café? More like Mudslide Bar & Café! Now I see why it's not called a RESTaurant. Upon entry into the facility, we were greeted promptly and taken to our taped up battered and abused booth. My wife who's 8 months pregnant was forced to sit on what seemed to be completely shredded and obliterated bench seating, as I peered across the table I could see the tears build in her eyes. A silent cry saying please get us out of here- I attempted to get up but was stuck like a pest control trap glued there- fearful. As I sat there stuck in the duct-tape holding the bench together- I looked around at all the chipped and peeling paint as though it was a distressed old look they were going for. At this point there was no turning back- we couldn't even get out of the bench. We ordered 2 pizzas and chicken dip. As we waited for the pizzas we had the chicken dip- the spiciness of the chicken completely overshadowed our discomfort and pain. But then before we could just get up and leave they brought out our pizzas- and let me just say- I was better off using the used chewing gum under the table as dough. And making my own pizza considering one pizza didn't even have cheese on it. You would think we ordered cardboard with pizza sauce on top. Our second pizza - well the fake cheese and rock hard crust was not appetizing to say the least. I just wanted to eat to live and I regret living after this experience. I'm confident the dollar general thrifty brand pizza is better than what I ingested. And don't get me started on the Parmesan cheese. Oh too late- our waitress asked if we wanted Parmesan on our pizza I said certainly - since one pizza didn't even have cheese on it. We thought it was was a new thing to have the cheese on after the pizza was brought out- we peered at eachother as we thought there was hope- we saw she brought over a SCHEAP Parmesan blend in a glass jar. That's when we knew we messed up. How conveniently they had a little sign that they don't discount their food and you will be charged for all items ordered! Even though the "wood-fired pizza" was made in an ez bake oven made from dough flat and dense. The yeast didn't even want to be at hillside! I grabbed a bite of pizza that was so heavy. As we tried to chew our food- we tried to talk to each other to distract from the disgusting flavor. It didn't help. Well I do feel bad for my underwear- there will be a mudslide because of hillside. My dog didn't even want my leftovers. It wasn't just $68 spent it was $68 STOLEN, 68 minutes on the toilet. 68 minutes of contractions, 68 minutes of therapy. As we sat there we could hear the music thumping from the festival with the colored people Just feet away. We could hear the laughter and knew they had to have good food. As a man I am humiliated that I took my wife out to eat. I'll die before I go back. read more

Folks. Every time I write one of these I feel like I am writing a Lord of The Rings Trilogy. And that's because I only write reviews for places that in my mind are epic. This place is EPIC!!! I've been to this place two days in a row. The service was perfect. The food was amazing. The Blind Pig Burger and the Alderman (Reuben) with onion rings was second to none. I enjoyed the servers, meeting the owner, the ambiance and so on....the place Will not dissapoint. By the way, even though I didn't have one, The Pizzas look incredible. If your anywhere near Chester SC please do yourself a favor and visit this place. I spent my birthday here with a group of coworkers, I got a standing Hapoy Birthday son and an amazing peanut butter pie that was worthy of a mention in this review. Just delicious. Delicious!!! I HATE this place HATE it!!!!! my child was running around the restaurant l, and slipped in another childs URINE!! that's right, this mother was not watching her son, and he was peeing in a corner! My child was running around and fell in it! Just disgusting! Next, while I was trying to clean my childs back covered in stray urine, I asked a worker for some napkins NICELY!!! This lady cussed me out from behind the counter! Saying "you need to take your broke butt home!" "Get your Cheetos finger child out!" She also said my son looks like Peter from family guy! And then last but not least, the pizza was molded!!! And, I saw multiple rats and mice behind the counter, and I'm not just talking about the workers smh! So yeah, 1 star. Me and my girlfriends just went to the 80's karaoke and we're having a awesome time, and out of nowhere were told we had to stop ordering drinks basically cause its a "new policy" even though the party room was very much bucket after bucket and drink carts after drink carts... We have been Everytime there's a decade gathering and never been told this!! We weren't loud or disruptive period... Never again!! read more

Stopped for lunch while driving thru Chester today, and it was a perfect spot. Great sandwich's, salads and service. Will come again.

We have heard about Hillside, as we are new to the Chester area. I always read reviews to get the best idea on what to expect, or just what is good and not good. All the ravers about the pizza. My hubby is a pizza guy and was so glad to have a good pizza place. He got the straight up pepperoni cheese pizza and I got the Caesar Salad. The pizza is awful. Like eating salty cardboard. Not a pizza for a person who loves good pizza. We think it's a box one taken out and baked. The salad was very good and I would order another for sure. So 3 stars since it was a No-Go for the pizza. read more

Such a cool atmosphere in this old historic building. Not to mention how delicious the food is! I regularly go in and pick up scones and coffee and many times I stop by just to pick up a piece of cheesecake to take home. It's some of the best I've ever had! read more

Best artisan pizza I have ever had! This place is definitely a top-notch restaurant! Very reasonably priced, and the service was excellent!

Seemed to be judged by appearance. Set on table by the fireplace, got looked over by all staff at least once for over 20 minutes, and the place was about 35-40% capacity. Even attempting to flag someone down, didn't work. As I walked out , 2 waits and the host appeared to be satisfied I left. I wish them luck, but I won't try again even if it's the last non-chain restaurant around. read more

Food was great. The atmosphere is lovely. Sometimes they have love music. Zelda's the bar is amazing. Servers are lovely.

I've been to Hillside a few times, and have gotten addicted to the "Canary", which is the chicken salad on a croissant. They've got some of the best onion rings I've ever eaten. Staff is very friendly, and helpful. I love that they have weekly specials both in the restaurant and at Zelda's, the bar. Baked goods are delicious, haven't been disappointed in any that I've tried. I'm glad they've decided to add 2 more days for lunch! read more
