Company charged me $4,455.00 to repair my GE monogram refrigerator and now the refrigerator makes loud horrible noises . We have contacted them multiple times and they are unable or unwilling to fix the problem they caused. The loud noises are unbearable and unsettling. TL;DR version: Fridge inoperable for almost 3 weeks since service requested, 2 weeks since diagnosed. Unprofessional service and uncaring attitude from management. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE. Hillside Appliance Services was contacted by my property management company to repair a fridge that wasn't cooling properly. I noticed this issue on Thanksgiving; so I did not expect a fix before the end of the weekend. I heard from Hillside Monday 11/27; the earliest appointment they had to even look at the issue was Friday 12/1. On the first I was given a 10-1 appointment window for the technician to arrive. At 1 PM I receive a call from the tech saying he would be late. He showed up around 1:30. Diagnosed a fan inside of the fridge as the issue and also cleared up a large amount of accumulated ice. I was told it was likely the part would be ordered same day and that the repair could likely be finished early the following week. The following Tuesday I decided to reach back out as I hadn't heard anything... was told that they were waiting on my property management company to approve the repair, so I contacted the property management company. The property manager stated that he didn't have a request for approval until.... the email came in while I was on the phone with him... suspicious. He also stated that the policy was no approval needed for repairs less than $500 and this repair was $400 and change. Called Hillside back, they said the part would be ordered immediately and they would reach out to schedule service. It's now Thursday (2 weeks after the issue was reported) and I haven't heard back from Hillside. I call Hillside to inquire and they say the part is set to arrive that day and they could schedule from there. I asked them to please give me a call back and was assured that if the part arrived that day they could come out to fix it next day. I was in a meeting when they called back and they left me a message saying the the part had arrived and earliest they could get my issue resolved was the following TUESDAY. I called back and was told that Friday was not a possibility and that they could get a technician out on Monday between 10-1. So I coordinate my work schedule around that. Call Hillside at around 11:30 AM for a status update and am told that they would be a little after 1. I've dealt with Home Warranty adjacent companies before and this has been easily the worst. No desire to get issues resolved in a timely manner, seemingly disorganized and overall unprofessional service. DO NOT RECOMMEND if you have a choice. read more

I would give them mine zero if I could. Last week, I called Hillside appliance, and one of the reasons that it said it was owned by a woman, and they seem to have good ratings although I only read three if I would've gone down further, I would have realized that they are not a good company so the tech comes out. They told $129. The tech comes out. He looks at my washing machine that has stopped working. He looked at it for maybe two or three minutes he checked the plugs he he plugged them. He plugged the machine in and unplugged it and after two minutes, he said oh it's the electric panel. On the machine, I said to him how can you tell? You've only looked at it for a couple minutes and you didn't use any kind of meter to check that he said well that's what it is and I can tell and it will be 500 and $60 and I won't get the part in for two weeks and I are you sure that's what it is because it didn't seem like you over very much you didn't take a panel off. didn't look at it and he said it was and I said I don't trust this. I don't feel that I should pay for this diagnostic visit didn't really look at it very well so he said well let me call my boss and he goes out to his car and he leaves. He doesn't say anything more to me. He leaves so I get a text message a while later saying that they canceled the services and I thought they meant they canceled me having to pay for the diagnostic so then I noticed they take $129 out of my account. in the meantime, the next morning, I noticed that the guy had taken out the hose and there was water all over the kitchen and the laundry room all over my new luxury vinyl flooring and now there's water underneath the flooring so I stayed up until almost 4 o'clock in the morning trying to I gotta a roller and a towels and try to get the water out then I called Lowe's and I ordered a new machine and I had the old machine into the garage. The kid new machine tries to plug it in. It's not told me to go get an extension cord and the new machine worked so it was the plugs in the laundry room that weren't working not my washing machine so I bought a new washing machine and a new dryer for nothing so I Hillside appliance and I I was of course I was angry as anyone would be that I got my washing machine got It's ruined my floor and I got angry because the guy was being very rude to me. His name is Leonard. he was being very rude to me and he said I'm not giving you your $129 back and he hung up on me so this morning I called again and I asked to speak with him and he wouldn't get on the phone and I to the woman that the phone Deborah that I deserve my $129 back. I actually the amount it's gonna cost me to get the and she went and talked and I did use the four letter word with I'm angry. I'm very angry and she came back on the phone and that that wussy wouldn't even get on the phone and talk to me and he said he doesn't deal with terrorist. If I were anybody that needed appliance assistance, I would not use these their thieves and they lie I'm a nurse and if I gave somebody a misdiagnosis and they got sicker or they went to to get treated only to didn't have the I'd be so ashamed I'd quit being a nurse and I am a nurse so I'm gonna put this on Facebook. Do not use!! They charged me a trip fee and a diagnostic fee only to tell me later that parts are not available and they can't repair my microwave. What a waste of $130. Since we had given them the appliance model number and told them exactly what was broken ahead of time, the right thing to do is first check to see if replacement parts are even available. They clearly didn't do this, which just seems like common sense. (when I instead called GE directly to send out a tech, they checked for parts first.) I asked them to give me a refund since they can't repair the microwave due to a lack of parts. The manager, Leonard, was extremely rude and difficult to talk to. NOPE! Tech was very nice and acted very professional and offered his opinion. He tested nothing and because he couldn't get the dryer to fail for him he told me my dryer vent was likely the issue. I thoroughly cleaned the vent and the issue remains. His later text recommendation when I informed him it still wasn't working was to replace a part on a future visit that will cost me $300.00. I can get the part myself for less than $15.00. I watched a lady on a youtube video change this exact part out in 10 minutes. Moral of the story is Hillside got $109.00 dollars and I get to do my own dryer repair. That's a sweet deal! For Them! read more

Saul was able to make a quick diagnosis on my particular Maytag refrigerator. Found the problem with the vent flap that allows cool air as needed was stuck and would need to be replaced versus having it stick open and then another time stick shut. He knew what to do with this model, checked with me, got the part ordered and then I had my receipts. They use technology wonderfully well. Christina was thoughtful and so was Saul. read more

We had them come to look at our built in microwave. He said it had to be a Thermador microwave to replace it and he get a price and would call us back with a cost for the replacement. He charged us $85 for a 5 minute visit. Then He did not call back. We called the company and left messages twice and they never called back. Definitely poor customer service and not recommended. Our refrigerator was repaired and I believe the invoice was incorrect as to the parts that were installed. I checked with Thermador on the parts needed to make the necessary repairs and have been told twice that the parts installed were correct which I disputed. I would never recommend this company and will never use them again. Shame on me for not getting a quite from the technician on the cost of the parts and installation before having the company order the parts and install them. Technician told we were getting a new ice maker. He brought in part of a ice maker and rigged a wire from a new ice maker and when he was called out by my wife she was told it's fine he does it all the time. So yeah the ice maker works but who knows for how long or if it's a fire hazard. I dont understand why business cant just do the work they say they are going to do. If I could give a ZERO star I would do it. We requested a service to repair our Washing Machine using our Home Insurance. They assigned this company "Hillside Appliance Services". The technician came to see the problem (charge $90 fee), came back 5 days later to repair the problem, but he didnt repair anything. the problem still exist. I call the Hillside Appliance Services office and they told me they will return the call. Gets what, they didnt return the call. So I decided to call again, and they told me that the problem I have is different, that I need to request a new service again with my home insurance, but it will take at least another week for the technician to come again. I dont trust them anymore so I decided to buy a new Washing Machine. read more

I called Hillside as a referral from a trusted source. I asked on the phone if the price of the service call would be applied to the work that might need to be done. The woman I spoke with said yes. When the tech arrived he identified the issue as a worn out knob. It took all of 3 minutes. They do not carry knobs so I'd have to go to Home Depot. When I asked if he could service the dryer, he said he'd have to charge labor. Very different than what the woman on the phone said. So essentially I paid $75 for nothing. Disappointing. read more

Yesterday morning, I went to check on a load in the dryer and found it was not hot at all. I put a request out on the Nextdoor app for recommendations for a reputable repair company. One of my neighbors recommended Hillside. I promptly gave them a call, and Leonard was able to get me on the schedule for today. Travis from Hillside just left. He was pleasant and competent. He had my dryer fixed and working again in under an hour at a reasonable price. (I looked online before they came to research what it was likely to cost, and Hillside was well within the average range.) If anyone else needs appliance repair, I too can now recommend Hillside. They were so easy to work with and very accommodating. I was even able to switch my appointment to this afternoon without any hassle. Our experience was unfortunately not a positive one as many of these reviews seem to be. I called Leonard to set up an appointment for my mom, whose refrigerator was not cooling while the freezer seemed to be working fine. The appointment booking process was fine. The technician called and even came early. That part seemed to be positive. What is unacceptable is that the company charged my mother $120 for a 40 minute ice removal job. He literally did that and cleared what was a clogged line. Nothing else. Unfortunately, that wasn't successful and my mom's refrigerator, $120 later, is not cooling. Before I even knew that the refrigerator wasn't fixed, I called the office to ask why my mom was charged $120 for such a seemingly simple job. No parts, very little labor. I spoke with a woman who said she understood where I was coming from and she would "talk to her husband." I assume that is Leonard. Next thing I know, Leonard is calling my mom asking her why she "yelled and screamed at the girl in the office." There was zero yelling, zero screaming, it was a very docile and professional exchange. Needless to say, I wish Leonard would have been more focused on a successful repair rather than obsessing over a simple phone call to object to charges that I felt were excessive. The technician came back to do a second diagnosis, and said he thought it was the control panel but couldn't be sure. He quoted my mother an additional $270 to replace the panel. And, again, said, "I don't know if this will fix the problem." The tech was super nice and congenial but spoke next to no English. My mom felt really bad for him because he was trying but she was incredibly frustrated that she spent $120 for literally no good reason. She could have unplugged her refrigerator for free to remove the ice buildup and gotten the same result. Leonard told me that the job they did should have been $180 and that he actually did my mom a favor. If defrosting a freezer and leaving it in disrepair costs $180 in this day and age, I guess I'm in the wrong business. read more

He had to wait 40 minutes for a dishwasher cycle to finish and while he was waiting he pointed out a couple of things that needed fixed at the house (a clients house), and he even fixed a barstool while he was waiting. I am not a friend or relative, and I have not been asked to write this review. In fact, I rarely review service professionals, but in this case I felt that exceptional service should be acknowledged. The task was to fix a refrigerator ice maker, which was leaking, producing rusty cubes, and finally had stopped working entirely. I called Hillside and Leonard, the owner, came out the next day. He told me it would cost about $500 to replace the rusted ice cube dispenser, replace the ice maker itself, and repair the leak. I just might want to replace the entire refrigerator, he said, so "call me back and let me know". We decided on the repair. Two days later he had bought the necessary parts and returned with an assistant to do the work. It ended up costing $287. [NOT A TYPO]. That in itself is remarkable. The reason is that when repairing the leak he determined we didn't need a new ice maker, just the dispenser. He could easily have installed the ice maker and I would never have known; now he had to return it, on his own time, and he would make nothing for installing it. I think we call this "honesty" - Diogenes would be thrilled. It doesn't stop there. During the installation, he found that the leak had caused a section of wall behind the refrigerator to become moldy - possibly with black mold, which is no joke. He could have made a bunch of money tearing out and replacing the affected area, but instead he told me that he had to research how to best do it while minimizing the danger from black mold spores both to himself and to my family. In fact, he said, he might have to have me use a specialist. But he would find out and let me know. No charge. Is this guy for real? I think he is, and if you need any appliance repaired, including air conditioning, you will be fortunate if you can get Leonard to have a look at it. read more

On every occasion I found them to be professional, knowledgeable and just all-around great people to work with! And honest as well ! The service person showed up at one home where the oven was inoperable for months. He was the only service person to honestly disclose it was simply a computer/Internet issue.
