During COVID, this business is taking orders via phone/email for pickup at a nearby restaurant (Mr. Henry's). Which is awesome, because it's basically Willy Wonka's factory for foodies. Seriously, Leah has something for everything! All high quality and at fair prices. Fancy European knives, Nordicware baking supplies, endless tea towels and spatulas and specialty molds and cutters. Whether you just need a new can opener (she has four options) or a fancy new gadget, she's got you covered. She even sells some local artisanal snacks and bar ingredients. Seriously, I haven't even lived in the area that long and I so miss browsing in this store. I can't wait til it's back, and will keep ordering by phone in the meantime!

I only came in for some kitchen rags and saw a sale for $11 from $15 but I couldn't find the right…read morelabeled rags. I asked for help and the woman looked also and found the closest thing but she didn't think that was correct either but told me she'd charge me the listed sale price. She said she thought there was a mis-listing. I also picked up some other things I needed for the kitchen. When I came home I took a closer look at the rags' original price and they were listed for $23! So she gave me more than 50% off! That was pretty awesome.

Very disappointed with the customer service at Sur La Table…read more I purchased a coffee machine and returned to the store the very next day because I was not satisfied with it. The machine had only been tested by running water through it, which is a normal step to determine whether it functions properly and meets expectations. Despite this, the staff refused to accept the return. What made the experience even more frustrating was the attitude of the employees. Instead of focusing on helping a customer who had just made a purchase, they repeatedly questioned why I bought the machine in the first place. This felt dismissive, unprofessional, and completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. I understand that stores have return policies, but the way this situation was handled showed very little regard for customer satisfaction. A coffee machine is not something you can truly evaluate without at least setting it up and testing it. Refusing a next-day return after minimal use and then interrogating the customer about their purchase decision is not the level of service I expected from a specialty kitchen retailer. This experience has left me with a negative impression of Sur La Table, and I will think twice before making another major purchase there.

Kitchenware store for ..... people who love to cook! Came here looking for a cast iron griddle that…read morewe purchased a few years ago.... THEY STILL HAD IT!! Different colors but so happy they still had them. We also purchased a cutting board that I can't wait to use. While we were there, the afternoon cooking class was about to begin.

I booked a cooking class at the Alexandria Sur La Table location well in advance for my birthday…read morecelebration and a large group of guests. Although there were some enjoyable moments, the overall experience was disappointing, especially given the cost. The class started later than scheduled, and there appeared to be insufficient preparation for the size of our group. Staff indicated that they had not anticipated the number of attendees and might not have enough food, despite the reservation being made in advance. When it was time to eat, the portions were insufficient, and several guests remained hungry afterward. The dessert portions also had to be divided because there was not enough for everyone. Given the size and cost of the reservation, I expected the location to be adequately prepared and to provide enough food for all guests. I was also uncomfortable with some of the instructor's comments toward guests. Although they may have been intended as humor, I found them inappropriate and unprofessional, particularly when guests' names were altered or treated dismissively. I do want to acknowledge the positive aspects of the experience. The room was clean, the chef assistants were kind and helpful, and Hunter (cashier) was consistently polite and especially helpful with coffee. The class also gave my guests and me an opportunity to cook together, which I had been looking forward to. However, the inadequate food, lack of preparation, and uncomfortable comments overshadowed the positive moments. For a special birthday celebration at this price, I expected better organization, sufficient food, and a more professional experience.
