He sourced and ordered the correct product, and then refinished my old floors and installed the new hardwood to the point where I have no clue where the floors meet. Now - a more than a YEAR later - I am THRILLED with my choice to use natural oil on my floors vs Poly that all the other contractors were pushing. Someone spilled something in the kitchen that had a tannic reaction (i.e. - big black blob spot smack in the middle of the floor). Marcus came out with his knife and 3 dabs of Monocoat oil and I can't even tell where it was. SO happy and SO relieved that it was a 2 minute (literally!) fix and not $1,000s to refinish my brand new floors. I got a reasonable quote from Hector and agreed to have the work done. This was a big job as I had the wood like tile installed throughout the whole house (2,364 sq ft). My wife and I had just bought the house and wanted to do some remodeling before we moved in. We remodeled the floors, kitchen, and repainted the house. I quickly realized that communication isn't Hector's strong suit. He would respond quickly, but with a response that didn't make much sense due to spelling/grammar errors and incomplete sentences. Based on the other reviews and pictures of work that was completed, I had felt that the job would have been done correctly nonetheless. During the time that work was being performed, I had to travel for work internationally for 2 weeks and I wasn't able to view the house while work was being done. Hector did send me picture updates as the installation took place, but of course didn't showcase the lack of quality in the workmanship. By the time I got home from my work trip, the painters had already covered the floors so that they could start painting to meet our move in deadline. After the painters were finished, it was obvious the issues with the tile. I reached out to Hector and it seemed like he was going to honor his work and fix the issues. Hector rescheduled many times and then eventually stopped all communications. I paid him over $12K for his labor, not including tile, and I'm very disappointed. You can't pull out a chair from the dining table without a foot getting caught on the uneven tile and you can feel the unevenness when walking around with bare feet. I've tried to clean the excess grout that is on top of tile, but have had no luck. I'm now going to need to hire another contractor to fix his issues. Overall, I would say absolutely do NOT use him. The work was sub par, the communication was terrible, he didn't do the work that was promised, and refused to fix the issues.

We had a bad experience with a Carlsbad general contractor for a guest bathroom project a couple years ago. So based on that, I was very cautious in who I wanted to hire to complete our master bath tile. Mike personally managed the entire tile job, including tile supply logistics as well as overseeing the hot mop waterproofing process, which gave me a lot of confidence that everything was being done right. He has ~46 years of experience with tile. His design input was spot-on, and he was incredibly meticulous in both layout and execution -- the finished product is flawless! On top of that, Mike is just a super friendly, easygoing guy who clearly cares about the quality of his work and making sure his clients are happy.
