I wanted to try Highlands Nails because they are super close to my home. I read reviews and they were not so great, but I also saw that they are under new management. Figured I would give them a try. I immediately regretted the decision when I saw how unclean this place was. Every surface in this place looks like it's coated in grime. The staff was not friendly and even ignored me when I introduced myself. Ok, fine, not a deal breaker for me, but It would have been a nice introduction. The nail colors are limited. I selected a shellac color that didn't match the end result. I suspect it had been thinned too much because I can see my nail beds under the color. The shaping and filing was rough and unnecessary, considering I have natural length and it's not thick enough to support that kind of heavy scrapping and grinding. It actually hurt a lot. If that's not enough, the technician didn't cap my nail ends! She actually filed my nails after shellac curing was done. They won't last more than a week without proper capping. I won't come back. Really wanted it to work out. read more

I hate to write this review, but it was so bad, multiple times, I feel I have to warn others. I wish there was a 'zero' star rating. I waited a bit after Issaquah Nails opened in the Highlands because I already had a great salon in downtown Issaquah. But finally, both because I really believe in supporting local businesses (this is in my neighborhood) and because it saves my time, I went here. The first few times were pretty good - I always saw Kim. She always had a big smile on her face and was super friendly to me. Then I don't know what happened, but it all changed and it went downhill every time afterward. My acrylic nails (which never chipped or broke at my other salon) kept breaking each time I went in, and each time I went back to have them fix, I not only had to pay for the repair, but they broke again. After a few times of this, I offered to let them put on a whole new set, in case that was the problem. Well, even with a new set, this kept happening. When I complained, I was told that I am too hard on my nails. No, I am not! I'm not a dishwasher or gardener, I don't do any manual construction work! This has never happened anywhere else. I too, like others, was also pressured to leave a tip. I stopped tipping for the fixes, the pressure to pay for something that was their fault PLUS tip them was too much for me. I finally told them I wanted to give them my business, but that if my nails kept breaking, I could not go there anymore. They said fine. Also, in a rush one day, I decided to get a bikini wax. BIGGEST mistake ever! I could not believe it when I got home - they completely botched the job. I don't know how they could do that. They do not deserve your business, trust me!!! read more

This was my first trip to this location. I get around 6 pedicures a year so I am not a "nubie" to pedicures. For the $27 I normally get a nail color, massage to the lower legs and a foot massage. The lady that worked with me seemed friendly. I got a half assed rub on my lower legs, barley a 30 second massage on left foot and she totally forgot my right foot!! When she cleaned out my large toenail, i am an athlete so I have a bit of nail fungus, she dug it out and placed it on the top of my foot to my horror! Gross!! I am tough so kept my composure. Another rave review! They are in their first week in business at this location, and it was a delight. The space was clean, comfortable, and inviting. The manager did my shellac manicure and she was meticulous. But, my favorite part of this experience was when someone came in ten minutes prior to closing and wanted a mani/pedi, and the owner said no, because she respected her staff and wanted to make sure they could go home to their families. We had a lovely chat about how respecting and taking care of your staff was one of the most important parts of having a business. I love to support a business that supports its workers. It was nice to see this place taking precautions and following safety protocols. I felt safe and like a human again after seeing my beautiful nails on my hands and feet. They did a really good job. It is such a shame that the Highlands doesn't have a quality nail salon. I only came in here because it was an emergency situation and I couldn't make it to my regular salon. Worst shellac I've ever had. And it's a gel manicure so either I live with it for 2 weeks or soak it off, which is annoying. She clearly put on a regular nail polish top coat instead of a gel top coat and then tried to cover up her mistake. (I know this because I've done this myself with similar results.) I didn't realize what she'd done until she threw out the bottle so I wouldn't see it, but later, when my nails came out of the LED machine ready for a final wipe with a cotton ball, she wiped them and the polish started to dent. When I pointed out the dents, she told me it must have been my fault when I pulled them out of the machine! No, I replied calmly, they were perfect when they came out, the cotton ball had done that. She proceeded to apply another, super thick coat of (correct) top coat on top to smooth it out, but the damage was done. In the 48 hours since then, the nails have repeatedly dented. There is definitely traditional polish on them. So, never going back here. Do yourself a favor, don't go here. I'm not going to ever get into the cleanliness of the tools, that also needs to be addressed. read more

Well this place sucks. My friend and I stopped in, I needed a pedicure and she needed a manicure. After we were told to pick a color there was no further communication from the lady who did my toes. She was rough! She didn't adjust my chair or roll my pants up or ask about the temp of the water. Cut my nails way too short and then used her finger nails to scratch my legs during the "massage" portion. The chair was uncomfortable and she didn't even do a good job painting them. Plus, another employee who wasn't working came and sat in a chair next to me to look at her phone - it was just a really weird experience and I truly felt like I was not wanted in the business My friend was told that the design she wanted "wasn't pretty in short nails" and was told several times it wouldn't be pretty. They cut her cuticles and made her bleed 3 times!! To make everything better when you pay they loudly ask you how much you want to tip! My friend and I both left there confused about why they would be running a business when they make you feel very unwelcome. Don't go - horrible!! read more

I am a semi frequent customer. Not because they're great but because they're close to my house. I called to see if they had time for a pedicure and they said yes. I immediately went in. When I got there, the receptionist told me I had to wait a half hour. Even after I told her I was the one who just called. I will not be coming back. Unfortunately I should have read the reviews before going here. To start off the lady they gave me was very unprofessional and when I told her what I wanted she said she couldn't do it. Which I guess is understandable so I changed the design and color. While getting my full set she was very aggressive with me. It felt as if she really didn't want to work and was putting her anger on me. ( I don't know her name, didn't really care to ask.) So we are almost done and she starts putting on the cuticle oil before she started the design! I asked her about the jewels that were supposed to be put on but she looked at me with annoyance and tells me "It's to late." and that was it and threw my hand back to me. Then at the front when paying she asked me how much I wanted to tip, putting me on the spot in front of everyone and holding my card hostage as if she was scared I would not try to tip. I was honest and told her I really didn't feel like she earned the tip. Of course I did, but I did it because she took the time to give me a shitty set. When I got home I noticed that not all my nails were the correct shape nor length and I had no time to go anywhere else because I was leaving town. Which is why I got them done in the first place. Obligingly, I made an appointment, and was instructed to come promptly at 3:30 (I had requested 3:45), or they would turn me away, as they needed me OUT of the pedicure chair by 4:00. What a way to phrase it. I completely rearranged my schedule to race over, arriving on time. It's now 3:55, my pedicure tub water is cold, & no technician appears anywhere near ready to start on my toesies. It's not the 1st time I've had AWFUL, RUDE service here, especially by the front desk scheduler. Can't wait until they're no longer the only game in town, but from now on, I'll plan to leave the Highlands for better service & quality. I've been here 3 times now and will not return. My last Shellac started peeling after 3 days. They prefer for you to have an appointment and the older lady (owner I'm guessing?) that works the front desk is rude and unfriendly. She seems put out that she has to help you. Additionally they have tiny signs all over the store that they prefer check or cash. I never carry either. When I tell her a card is all I have all 3 times she gives a look of disappointment. She did a fantastic job, so I thought i'de give it another go. Went in a few days ago for a pedicure and it was shitty. The lady barely gave me a massage, and did not get the dead skin off...the point of a pedicure is to relax, and get your money's worth but did not experience that this time which is unfortunate. I went into the store about 20-25 minutes before closing. They all acted like I was imposing on them to provide me with a service I was going to pay for. I asked if they had time for a repair. The man asked me if I had fake nails. I have acrylic nails. Not one person said "Hi" "How are you?" "Thank you". They didn't speak to me or the other client in the shop at all. She did a very nice job on creating my new nail, however she didn't have a color to match what I had on. She put on a color she thought was close but I left there with two different colors on my nails. No one thanked me for coming or invited me to come again. Two stars because I got an appointment after just walking in. Kayla did my manicure and made me feel like in inconvenience. She didn't seem to like that I didn't want my cuticles cut, only pushed back. She also looked at me strangely when I asked for glue to help fill a split on one of my nails that I'm trying to grow out. Massage was weak at best. Not my first visit here but quite possibly the last. There was one nice gal working there a couple months ago who injured her back so I think she is on leave. I had a pedicure done here, it was my first time and I plan on not going back. From the outside in, it looks clean and pretty nice. Same on the inside it is pretty nice but the quality of my pedicure was not there. The water was cold, the paint job on my toes was sloppy, I left with nail polish on my skin. I decided to treat myself to a manicure after not having my nails done "professionally" for over a year. I now have a NAIL FUNGUS underneath a few of my nails at the tips. They do not sterilize between clients, and use the same nail file on everyone. Yuck! Stay away, and if you must get your nails done, bring your own nail tools. I will never go back. read more

This is my favorite nail salon in all of washington! I used to work in the issaquah highlands and would always get my nails done on my lunch break or as soon as I got off. I would make appointments on my lunch break and let them know I only had an hour and they would have me in and out in the perfect amount of time! It was until I began working in Bellevue (searching for a new salon) that I realized how great this salon is. They definitely get busy at times and I have been turned away due to a long wait but that's understandable. This salon is great.
