Thank you Highland Runners! This place was recommended to me because I've recently begun to walk more on concrete and my knees and hips are really not feeling it! I came in the other day and explained what was going on. The man that was working evaluated the wear pattern on the bottom of my current sneakers, my arch and has a good conversation with me around my walking habits. Then he suggested a couple of pairs of shoes and had me get on the treadmill with them to evaluate my walk. I ended up picking one pair and now I'm waiting for them to come in. I was in dire need of new running shoes as the pair I have been using have gone through two marathons plus all of my daily running (over 600 miles of wear and tear) over the last few months. Being we are in a social distance state of mind I decided to give Highland Runners a call to see if they were open and if I could come in for a quick sale. They told me to come in so I drove the two miles from my home to Highland Runners. The associates were excellent. They checked my old running shoes to see how I have been running in them. They also did an analysis of how I run with a personalized fitting. After bringing out several pairs with different sizes and fits I walked out with a fresh pair of On running shoes within 20 minutes. Great store for natural running. Alec, the store owner, is really helpful and knowledgeable. He has a lot of representatives come in from different shoe companies so it's best to check out the Facebook page to keep updated on when they come in. I bought my first pair of Newtons here and they sell running clothes and accessories as well. Currently they have two running groups, one on Sunday and one on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. I went a few times and met some really great people. I believe a pizza and beer party is usually held on the last Tuesday of every month after the run. read more

The guys who I've met there are the sweetest, most enthusiastic guys of any running store you'll ever meet. I went in there while in the neighborhood JUST TO GET SOCKS. Of course, they got me interested in natural running so I bought my first pair of Newtons and they gave me guidance on how I should run. It was pretty close to my natural style, but I took their tips and my great new shoes and I focus on doing it whenever I run. No hard sell either, they are just so sweet and sincere that I thought, why not? I run better and enjoy it more the natural way - so now I'm hooked - I won't get any other kind of shoes and I'll be a natural runner for life - and I can be because natural running means less chance of injuries that hobble most runners. Plus they have cute workout clothes (small selection but great sales and somehow had my unusual size jog bra (30 band with a larger cup) which is rarely available anywhere but specialty shops. I love the stretchy "shoe laces" - I'll never use regular laces again either btw. Ok, clearly I am a fan but best of all - I love the guys there - I think one of them is the owner Alec. My favorite thing about Highland Runners is their customer service. I was in the market for a new pair of running shoes, but I wasn't really sure what the best shoe for me would be. I got all of my questions answered at my initial visit. I went home and thought of more questions, went back, and got those answered as well. It is nice to find a store that really cares about their customers. They also offer free yoga and barre classes occasionally on the weekends which are great. They seem to have a small but high quality selection of running gear, which I appreciate. Quality over quantity! Purchased my first pair of Innov8 shoes today as have been into this cross fitting thing for a couple of months. Asked lots of questions and Alec was very helpful. You won't find a better selection of natural running shoes in the southeast, and you definitely won't find better customer service or a staff as knowledgeable about roomy toeboxes, zero drop, and light weight shoes (I tried to stump 'em, but couldn't!). I had been a lifelong runner. But when I hit 50 yrs. old, I almost quit. I was completely disheartened. I was experiencing significant pain in my knees, ankles and hips. I thought I was destined for the elliptical the rest of my life. I had been purchasing high end running shoes from Road Runner and equated expensive with good. Someone suggested that I try a custom runner's shop as a last ditch effort. Thank goodness I found Highland Runners!
