I ordered the croque madame with the fried egg on top, and it was delicious. You can absolutely tell they use real butter--the true French way! My waistline might not thank them, but my tastebuds certainly did. I even brought home an almond croissant for the Hubby and snacked on a cheese and chive scone the next day, and everything was just fantastic. The only little hiccup is that the service can get a bit hectic. The staff seemed a little confused trying to match up the order numbers to the tables, and we almost got run over on our way out by a waiter sprinting to the patio! But even with the fast-paced environment, the food is wonderful whether you eat in or grab takeout. Definitely worth a visit! A much better experience here than MY 1st time. I think it's because they enlarged the dining area with more table space. It's still hard to have a conversation due to the high ceilings which echo the sound.

It's a family-owned, grab and go kind of bakery with all the classics. Churros, elote, conchas, and plenty of other panadería favorites. But if there's ONE thing I keep coming back for... It's their tres leches. You can call ahead and order a full sheet cake, or grab an individual slice like the one pictured here. And let me tell you--the cake is SOAKED in milk, exactly how I like my tres leches! Some places are way too stingy with the milk, but Lupita's Bakery does not hold back. The cake is incredibly moist without becoming soggy. The icing is also super light and airy, almost like whipped cream, which I LOVE. And somehow, with all that sweetness, it's not overly sweet at all. Everything just works perfectly together.

There's a nice refrigerated area with tres leches cake slices, flan, and pop. It's a true panaderia with la concha of different choices (a few times they were really dry and crumbly), cookies (tasted stale the past 3 times), and the churros (ALWAYS the win here)!!! The churros are delicious when they're freshly made - regular cinnamon sugar, filled with chocolate or vanilla. THIS is why I come here! Some of the pastries are hit or miss, maybe depends on when I'm stopping in? The churros however are always good and keeps me coming back. Plus I can't walk into a Mexican bakery and not leave with a la concha or other goodies.

Recently, we had ordered a small cake from the Deerfields Bakery in Buffalo Grove, and really loved it.   A few days ago, while I was in the Deerfield area, I decided to stop by the Deerfield location for the first time in at least five or six years. This bakery has gone through a nice renovation. It is clean, bright, modern, and pleasant, just like the one in Buffalo Grove, except that it is a lot smaller.  Since it was after 4:00 pm when I went, within an hour of closing, some of the shelves were already empty, which is understandable and probably a good sign for the business. Out of nostalgia, I purchased a big smiley face cookie for $3.95.   The girl who helped me was very polite and friendly even though I was just purchasing one cookie.  That made the visit even more pleasant.  However, I would likely get some other baked goods instead next time, as this cookie and its icing were quite hard, and just tasted like a lot of sugar. I am deducting one star mostly because of the parking situation.  There are only four parking spaces by the building, once these spaces are occupied, customers have to walk to the parking lot in the back that's diagonal from the bakery, and cross a busy driveway shared with a bank.  This can be especially inconvenient when carrying a cake. Since the Buffalo Grove location is much larger and has its own parking lot that makes parking easy, I will most likely continue going to the Buffalo Grove location unless I happen to be in the Deerfield area.

The customer service was also great and everyone was friendly and welcoming. I got the strawberry matcha, and it was honestly so good. It wasn't overly sweet, and I could taste both the strawberry and matcha without either flavor overpowering the other. I also tried the milk bread with custard inside, and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was soft and fluffy, and the custard filling was the perfect addition. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, too. Definitely a great spot to grab a pastry and a drink, and I'll be coming back to try more!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was disappointing…read more My family and I stopped by on Saturday shortly before closing. As employees were already putting away the bread, I politely asked if I could grab a piece before everything was picked up. I was told that the bread was being moved to the front and that someone would assist me there. While I waited, two other groups entered after me. They heard the same information and ended up being helped before I was, despite the employees knowing that I had been waiting first. I politely asked twice for assistance and was told to continue waiting while the other groups were served. What made the situation more frustrating was that the customers ahead of me were taking a long time deciding what they wanted. I had already put on a plastic glove and was prepared to select my own bread, but I was told that wasn't necessary because an employee would help me. While waiting, I witnessed one of the teenagers from a group point directly at the bread, and another teenager pushed their hand into it. This happened in front of the employees, and no one addressed the situation or reminded them not to touch the food. As someone who was trying to follow proper sanitation practices, I found this very concerning. Not only did this happened once but 2,3 times infront of them. Yet nothing was addressed. After being ignored, waiting while others were served ahead of me, and seeing unsanitary behavior go unaddressed, I decided to leave without making a purchase. I was disappointed by both the customer service and the lack of attention to food handling standards.
