I had the opportunity to eat here a couple of days ago when I was in town for an early dinner on Saturday night, and I have to say I had a pretty positive experience. We were seated right away, our waitress was nice and checked in on us regularly, and the food and drinks came within a reasonable amount of time (which is saying something for Indianapolis!). The food itself though I could give or take. Nothing blew me away by any means and it reminded me of the type of food I could get at a chain steakhouse or burger joint. I personally had the Teriyaki Salmon which came with a small house salad on the side, whereas my three friends all opted for burgers that came with fried frozen tater tots. For me the salmon was cooked well and coated in a sweet-and-tangy delicious sauce, but all of the flavors were extremely subdued because there was extremely limited (if any) seasoning on it. When you're just missing that little bit of salt, even the most delicious fish will fall flat. The salad greens themselves were also fine for what they were, but the dressing that covered them tasted like sugar syrup it was so darn sweet. I was hungry so I still finished it all, but usually I like a bit more vinegar or acid in my dressing. This one sadly seemed like they poured soda on my greens and called it a vinaigrette. Honestly, just not good at all. All that being said, I appreciated our waitress and the fact that this one restaurant in Indianapolis got us seated and our food within a normal waiting time, so I've gotta give them that! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was at the JW Marriott hotel and my coworker and I decided to eat here for lunch. It really didn't seem like there were any restaurants worth trying within walking distance. I'm glad we chose High Velocity. Service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere and decor were pleasant. I had the cheeseburger sliders. We both were very surprised to see that the sliders came with 3 different kinds of fries and 3 different kinds of buns. I thought that was nice and unique. The food tasted just fine. I felt the prices were a bit high for the amount of food you get, but overall, it was a fine time. read more

High Velocity - Cheeseburger sliders with fries (curly, regular, and waffle!) - Sports Bars Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

High Velocity is located on the main level of the JW Marriott. This creates both opportunities and problems. First lets examine the issues that arise from this location. The JW Marriott is one of the nicest and most luxurious hotels in town. This reputation can easily be verified from the outside of the facility. Even though nice luxurious hotels are really cool, they tend to create an image that the restaurants located inside of them are expensive. High Velocity doesn't exactly qualify as being expensive. It's not the cheapest, but it's definitely not the most expensive either. I think that prices are suitable for the environment the restaurant creates. Another issue with the restaurant being located inside the hotel is the lack of parking available. Most customers are either visiting the hotel or downtown for another event outside of the facility. This can create a problem for local customers wanting to drive downtown to the hotel for dinner. I didn't know if the restaurant validates parking of if the hotel provides free valet service for customers. If the restaurant had a private parking lot, that would be a huge perk, however most restaurants located within metropolitan cities rarely have an exclusive parking lot. Now it's time to check out the benefits of this establishment. I've only been there twice and both times occurred before Colts games. This place is happening! First off, there's generally some radio station hosting the pregame within the restaurant. How cool is that? Secondly, Upland Brewery has been there both times as well. The food was good. I just had the traditional cheeseburger and fries, and have absolutely nothing to complain about. I ordered a glass of lemonade and the servers made sure that I didn't run out. Two thumbs up there. The best part is that it's only a short walk from the stadium and across the street from the parking garage. Tailgating before football games is fun, but during the cold Indiana winters, you'll probably find me in the heat inside of High Velocity before the games. read more

Kianna was great. Good food. Wonderful service. Had the nachos and were ok- great ambience and sports bar.

Our group of 4 dined at High Velocity during volleyball tournament. Staff of Eric, Julie and Maggie were excellent, food was good and our group will return to High Velocity when in town next year. Reserving table early is recommended (OpenTable) since we were fortunate to find seats at the bar. read more

Great Mediterranean Salad and service by Takeema! Lots of TVs to watch the game. Enjoyed my time here.

Solid three stars. I love that High Velocity is walking distance from my office, but don't really visit it otherwise. Consistently good food- especially salads. I know it's located in an upscale downtown hotel, but it's hard to swallow some of the prices. "Shareable sides" are $8- even fries! I enjoy visiting, but try not to make it a habit. Tip: they validate parking! read more

I loved the salmon blt paired with pineapple mule (of which they make their own ginger beer). The shrimp lettuce wraps, fries, and asparagus are good too. Also this is a great venue to watch any sports game because they have TVs of all sizes hanging all over the restaurant walls. Lastly, they stay open late - kitchen and bar! read more

I'm currently at the restaurant and waiting 37 minutes just to get a refill and then our check. Not even that busy. Do not come here. The absolute worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant. read more

Had a wonderful experience, the food and drinks were great. Waitress was top notch, make sure to ask for Emily Tran.

It's a good hotel-level sports restaurant and bar located in the nice large Marriott in downtown Indy. Conveniently located next to the baseball stadium and convention center. It's good serviceable food without anything that standouts out. You come for the convenience of location not for a "Foodie" vibe. read more

I and my fellow adventurers recently found safe haven at the JW Marriott's High Velocity Sports Bar. After a long day of fighting goblin-men and were-boars, we were in dire need of tavern fare. In fact, the wizard needed food badly! A modern atmosphere and exceptionally friendly wench staff gave solace to our band of weary travelers. A fine selection of ales were available, including many local brews. The fare is generally well prepared and seasoned, but the discovery of the steak quesadillas rivaled the excavation of the fabled Arkenstone, such was their savory delight. One particularly witty and gregarious serving lass was Sarah, who we had the pleasure of jesting with during our stay. She listened to our tales of high adventure with great interest, though I suspect some of it feigned. She is a credit to the establishment. So, whether a business traveler, Colts fan, or, like us, a band of treasure-hunters newly returned from the mines that once served our people as hearth and home, the High Velocity at the Marriott is a place to hang your axe for a fine meal and finer company! We will return, as is prophecized, when again the summer moon dies and I can guarantee that we will once again visit High Velocity Sports Bar. read more

A solid sports bar for the out-of-towner staying at the JW. We came here for the Devour Downtown, and everything was a-okay. Chicken tender appetizer was good, and the steak taco salad I had was also good. My boyfriend really enjoyed his shrimp and mac and cheese entree. The wine list was a bit lacking, but I was able to find a nice Pinot Grigio to enjoy. Service was attentive and took care of our needs. read more

We stopped in at HIgh Velocity after the Colts game on Friday. It was probably getting close to midnight but we had no problem getting a table. Most people were crowded around the bar. I was actually impressed at the number of people in the bar considering this was a pre-season game. I ordered the chicken fingers which were lightly battered and quite delicious if I do say so myself. The price seemed a little steep for the amount of food ($9 for 5 tiny chicken fingers) but the taste was good. They came with two dipping sauces both of which I thought I improved by adding healthy squirts of the Siracha that was sitting on the table. Normally I think Friday night drink specials are the worst because it's such a big night for business but they had $3.50 Fat Tires and I believe $3.00 Stoli you-call-its and $3.00 Sam Adams. After this first experience at High Velocity, I'd definitely go back. There are definitely a few other items on the menu that I'd like to try. It's typical "bar food" that makes up the menu but there were a lot of plates going by that looked pretty good! read more

Greg and Courtney best bartenders in town! Thank you both for a great time! Great drinks, exceptional service, great prices. You guys are the best! read more

I ordered food at the High Velocity Bar inside the JW Marriott downtown Indy. I ordered the shrimp tacos with corn tortillas. The corn tortillas were so hard they cut a large gash in my gums by my front teeth. They were TERRIBLE! So I asked for flour tortillas to still try to salvage this plate even I was still bleeding but no luck. All the food was cold. The assistant GM came and he didn't have anything to say to me. Horrible service by management and terrible food. Will not return to this establishment. read more

For a hotel based restaurant, really not bad at all. I found the steak taco salad (per previous review recommendation) delicious; the service was excellent despite a busy night; and the pricing was reasonable. A large, open room helps keep the sound levels down, giving the 'sports bar' a grander ambience. Definitively more impressed than expected. read more

This place is cool. Great food! Great service! Its a sports bar "technically", but great for families too. We always ask for Grace, but I think all the servers are great, she is just SUPER great, efficient, really on top of things. The manager, (Carleigh?) is a super nice gal, soooo professional, friendly, and makes us customers feel SO very important. Jamie is THE best bartender in Indy. Needless to say, I'm becoming a regular! The menu is great. I mean, everything on there is really tasty! Prices aren't bad. Everything is close to $10-15 bucks....which for the service and location is a BARGAIN. Parking? No problem. Self park in the garage and the (always friendly) hostess will give you a free pass. Saves you $10 right there. Just ignore the annoying valet guys on the way in to self parking. I say GO, GO, GO! :-) read more

Wife and I enjoyed quality dinning experience prior to outing. We called ahead for reservations due to large organization in town.we were welcomed very warmly by hostess staff. I have to admit I was somewhat nervous on the experience when a trainer and her new hire walked up to our table. They did a GREAT JOB! We choose to eat: Skirt Steak (4/5 rating), Salmon (3 1/2/5 rating) Overall: very nice experience on a busy evening. read more

Quick overview: Pros - Tons of TVs that seemed to be showing all of the NFL games, plenty of very comfortable seating, great decor. Cons - VERY slow service (even when place was half empty), very inattentive and careless wait staff. Appetizers were cold and not nearly as big or tasty as you would expect for the price - very generic. Details: Went Sunday afternoon with a group of 8 with hopes of a few drinks and some appetizers before a concert at The Lawn. The place was about 1/4 full and there were plenty of tables. We told the hostess we were coming to get a quick bite and a few drinks before a show, yet somehow it took us nearly 10 minutes to get seated. We watched the servers very slowly move two tables together and set them after 5 minutes with absolutely no urgency. Then, it say ready for a few more minutes before we were seated. Our waiter came and took drink orders - after 10 more minutes, first round of drinks arrived except for two people. We were told they were out. I have two problems with this: First, why wait until the other drinks come before asking for a replacement order? Secondly, if you're the waiter, make a recommendation of something else - don't just come back and ask "what else do you want". To make things worse, only one of the replacement drinks came because they were "changing the keg" of the other replacement order. At this point, it we had been at the table for over 20 minutes and one person still didn't have a drink. The right thing to do is when the server realized the replacement beer wasn't available, bring a different drink for them to enjoy while they wait - again, he knew we didn't have time. Before you call me too picky with high expectations, remember this is supposed to be an upscale place in a high-end hotel - you expect great service for the extra $2 or $3 you're paying for a drink versus other bars in the area. We ordered apps immediately - after 40 minutes at the table in total, we had them. The nachos were cold (cheese had hardened), there were far to few onion rings and the calamari was average at best. The Chicken lettuce wraps were delicious I do have to say. All in all, we only had one drink each (had planned on having at least 2 but ran out of time) our food was below average, our server was extremely inattentive, slow and unfriendly and we left disappointed. If you have unlimited amounts of time and want a place to watch sports and don't mind paying extra money for drinks, I'd say it's a decent place to go. But if they want anyone other than people staying at the hotel to go there, they need to clean up their act. read more

Awesome experience with a large group. Michael M was a phenomenal waiter. Very attentive and engaging with our large table. He kept drinks flowing and food was very good. read more

Drink review only. Gregg M and I went here on a rainy night. I got a peach margarita. Though it sounded really good in theory, this one was so sweet I couldn't drink it. It was all peach. They are supposedly hand crafted cocktails so if this is a homemade syrup they really missed the mark. On another note the bar/restaurant was very spacious. The energy level was good too. If I'm in downtown Indy again I'm sure I would try it again. I know Gregg enjoyed his beer. read more

Nice beer selection that includes local craft beers for an after work drink. I appreciate that they keep their glasses frozen as well.

The food is OK. About the same as most nice bars. The beer prices are about average. I usually order a 23 ounce Shiner Bock for $7. During the week, they have $5 appetizers and that is actually a pretty good deal. Watch for 50% off certificates on the various dining deal websites. They also validate parking, so when you're not staying at the hotel, park in the garage and have your server hook you up with free parking. read more

Amazingly bad, the place is half empty staff leaning against the wall. It was a 20 minute Waite for a table. Staff still leaning against the wall. Still waiting on a server. We got up and left. Thanks for nothing. read more

Had a wonderful lunch with a colleague. The food was delicious and the service was amazing from our server Emily T! Thanks Cortney for the great service! Chicken BLT wrap was on point. Also really liked the cocktail selection.

I went to this sports bar with some colleagues after a conference and before we headed to the airport. While we we there they switched every single tv to the Colts game. We asked if they could switch one tv to the WNBA playoff game. The dude said he couldn't because their system was broken. About 15 minutes later, I asked a different server if they could put one tv near us on the WNBA game. She said sure and put the game on two TVs for us, With 23 seconds left in a one point game, the two TVs were suddenly switched to NASCAR. No one was watching NASCAR. We were the only people in that area. What a crappy way to treat paying customers. read more

The food ok but the chairs are lousy! When you sit in the chairs you have no support so you have to sit on the edge of the chair.

The short rib grilled cheese was SO much better than I had hoped! Emily T. was very attentive. Nice atmosphere for both lunch and dinner!

We got the "grab and go" option since we were in a rush and first of all, they did not explain that the options for grab and go were extremely limited till we got to the front of the line. Second, the food was horrible, buns were practically unedible on the sandwiches and left a horrible taste in your mouth. We also paid FULL PRICE for each "meal" which was a sandwich with no toppings (lettuce, tomato, or onion) and a bag of chips. A waste of money. I'm not sure what the sit down dining is like in comparison, but they will not be getting my money ever again. read more

The location is great. I have not eaten inside to watch a game, yet. We have taken our family for lunch on the patio. Pros: The sliders are wonderful, and the management and service is great. Cons: No shade outside for the kiddos, and the fish tacos were disappointing; however they do aim to please if you are unhappy. read more

This is a great place to eat, drink, and watch games! It's not just a place to go when you're staying at the JW. It's a place you can visit whenever! Tons of TV's for watching games. You can even get a table with a TV where you can change the channel and volume at your leisure. The service is great, I am witty and the waitress was able to get me right back! They are on time and always checking on your drinks. The food is excellent. They have one of the best "local" Cuban Sandwiches I have had in forever! Their salad with the Chili Lime dressing is awesome! Tons of beer selections on draft. A little pricey though. $6.00 for a tall bud light. I told the waitress "What the heck?! I'm not even at the game yet!" Overall a great place! Keep it up guys. We need more places like this. read more

This is one of the best sports bars in Indy. Great food-- can't go wrong with any of the appetizers. TVs can be viewed from any seat in the house. It is a little on the pricey side, but the high quality experience is worth it! read more

High Velocity - Chicken Nacho Appetizer - Sports Bars Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

This place was named for the speed at which the food feels like it is traveling through your stomach and on its way to JUST KIDDING this place was fine. The name kind of just asked for it. Came here on the day after the Derby, flying out of Indy and stopping by downtown for the afternoon. Raptors vs. Nets was on. When Paul Pierce made that nasty block and won the series after basically throwing it away a play earlier. Drake was courtside. No one cared. Anyway. Huge nachos. With cheese on all layers, though some of it was regrettably cheese sauce and not real cheese. Again, high velocity. I also had a salad that could feed a small Romanian family, assuming that this Romanian family had very meager expectations of portion sizes and they were content to eat just a salad for whatever duration that we are performing this experiment. I am not sure what their Romanian-ness has to do with this. I may just be picking on them for no reason. I feel bad now. I am going to do something good in the name of Romania tomorrow. Maybe I'll write a new Yelp review and explain some awesome things about the country. That should balance it out. It'll take research. Probably Wikipedia. Maybe some other websites like the Romanian tourism website that I am hoping they have as well. I'll do my research and I'll write a review and say good things about Romania. That all will be much easier than deleting what I wrote up there. And besides...I don't want to be inauthentic here. I wrote it. I will live with the consequences. But just wait, Romania! I am going to do you a solid in my next review! read more

My wife and I are staying at the JW Marriott for Gen Con. We arrived late Wednesday evening and needed food, so we decided to try the sports bar, which was open late. Our experience was excellent, thanks in large part to our server, Michael. He was completely willing to check ingredients for my wife's food allergies, and he made sure she got food that was safe to eat. Her barbecue ribs and my Mediterranean salad were both delicious. We have a safe place to eat during the Con. What a relief! Thank you, Michael. read more

My sister and dined at High Velocity before the Indian's game last night. Even though there were 3 other major events going on that night, the service was quite speedy. We sat at the bar and all of the bartenders were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed seeing them work together to please their guests at the bar. My sister ordered the cheese fries and I ordered the cheeseburgers. Both had large portions and were filling. My sister commented that the fries had a little TOO much cheese on them but the other toppings were sufficient. The cheeseburgers were nothing special- could have offered a special sauce to go on top. They honestly tasted like the soy burgers you were fed in Elementary school and were very dry. The fries on the other hand were great! Other all our experience was pleasant and the managers made sure we were happy. I believe when a manager takes time to come around a greet you and ask how your meal is going make the experience worth while. read more
