Busy wknd working all the college basketball madness in town so a friend and I got takeout because we couldn't be away long from work. As busy as it was I'm impressed with the quick response and service that I got! I wish I could have remembered to get her name but she took my order fast and food was out in like 5-6 min tops! My friend wanted the taco salad and I ordered the steak quesadilla. As I waited this place was poppin and it seemed to be a cool little spot. Lots of great options on the menu so definitely coming back for takeout when I'm at work in a pinch for time. When I got back to work we saw our food and we were very excited about it and then we went in for the bite and we were definitely happy with the food for the price as well. Taco salad was really delicious and filled to the top! The ranch was prob one of the best I had. She agreed. My steak quesadilla was really good. The only thing I had wished I knew was to ask for an extra side of salsa for the tortilla chips it came with. Definitely not going to forget that next time but will definitely try something else. I've noticed that this place has reviews across all levels, but I think this is a great spot if you're attending a show at Gainbridge or Lucas Oil and need to be in and out quickly. This is a bit of a divey bar with dim lighting and sports and the staff are moving at top speed to get you served. The food came out super fast. I got a steak quesadilla ($12) and it is just pure bar comfort food. Lots of steak and cheese, I stayed full for hours after while attending a concert at Lucas Oil. Sadly, no pictures, as I was in a rush. But I will for sure keep this place in mind the next time I need a quick bite before a downtown affair! read more

Excellent burger! Stopped in today for lunch and had the Tom Nom Nom burger with bacon and blue cheese crumbles. Excellent, juicy, nice portion, had those crispy edges that we all want on our burger :). Will certainly be back to try another burger or sandwich as I suspect they are all great. read more

Coaches serves solid unpretentious pub fare & most hungry Hoosiers probably can't eat $20 of food here. Venue is classic, tons of TV's & a solid variety of seating options (including outdoor seating). Decor is warm & matches the neighborhood. Service is top notch & the bartenders got character. Stopped in before a Pacer's game and wow this place was poppin! The inside has a small seating area near the bar and another main seating area that is a few steps down from the bar area, separated by a railing. Luckily we found a small table near the bar. The inside is decorated with sports memorabilia and there is a myriad of televisions on every wall. There was only a couple employees working but they were definitely hustling around making sure everyone was taken care of. They have drink specials every day of the week (usually $4 something). The menu has a wide variety of options including appetizers, soups/salads, quesadillas, burgers, wraps and even some fish sandwiches. We got mini corn dogs and split the buffalo chicken wrap. I was surprised that they offered the chicken either fried, blackened, or grilled. Because calories obviously don't count on the weekend, we went with fried. The food came out fast for the restaurant being so busy. The buffalo chicken wrap was excellent and the chicken was perfectly crispy. Just a heads up, the wrap comes with big chunks of carrots, which I thought added a nice crunch, but could see some other people not being a fan of. Overall, very impressed with the food, drinks and most importantly the atmosphere! Will definitely be back to watch games in the future. read more

On first Sunday of Olympic Trials finals, one person behind bar serving. Deafening music volume. Never ordered a thing. Moved down the street to Kilroys. At least a dozen people walked in while I was there and the. turned around and walked back out. I came in from out of town and found this bar. Seemed like a nice place until you ordered a drink. Bartender had a major attitude, even had the nerve to say something about my drink of choice, she definitely played favorites when it came to filling drink orders. Apparently restaurant is unable to control its heat as it's controlled by building maintenance of the entire building. Space heaters would be helpful. My toes are freezing. Has it really been that long since I last stopped by here? Man, does time fly. Anyway, I was downtown and decided to stop in again. Glad I did! It was lunch and the tavern was about half full. It looks like it is still arranged the way I remembered it: main floor as you enter (dining) and the bar a couple steps up on the left. There wasn't a sign about seating, so I went up into the bar and after a couple minutes, was able to get the bartenders attention. I headed back to a table in the dining area and was greeted promptly by my waitress who had been busy ringing out some orders. The service was good the rest of the way (maybe they need a bell or buzzer to let them know customers have arrived.) I ordered the Chicken Wrap Ranch (I got the grilled chicken, not the crispy) which comes in a flour tortilla with pepperjack, tomato, and lettuce with the ranch on the side. I also selected cole slaw as my side. The food was brought out reasonably quick. The wrap was not oversized...actually it was just right for a lunch size meal. The chicken was moist and tender and had a nice grilled flavor. The rest of the ingredients seemed fresh and all worked well together. The cole slaw was not the creamy kind, so there was plenty of crunch and nice blend of sweet/vinegary taste. Very good! Note to self: Don't wait so long between visits. Review #577 read more

We came here before a concert at Bankers Life. This is the perfect place to come for food and drink if you have an event at Bankers life. Such a fast walk. Drink specials were a reasonable price and the food is delicious. I had the burger and it was cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic even though it was busy. We will be back for sure. read more

I can only go off customer service because we didn't get the opportunity to order anything here. We were in town for my birthday, had reservations for a place nearby. We arrived early and parked outside this place because it was a block away so we decided we'd get a few drinks here before dinner. My partner and I realized we both only had cash at the time so I asked him to run in and ask for a couple quarters so we could pay the parking meter first. He did and apparently the bartender working told him "I only have $3 in loose quarters in my register and I'm not breaking open a new roll for you." Well, I hope that was worth missing a $50+ bar tab and tips. We ended up at another bar that had nicer, more accommodating staff. read more

If you're not familiar with that iconic TV bar that was home to Norm, Cliff, and the crew, stop what you're doing right now and binge seasons 1-4, at minimum. Coaches is nestled right on the corner of Pennsylvania street, about a block from Bankers Life Fieldhouse (I still call it Conseco, or on a good day, Market Square Arena; yes, I know it's a different building LOL). Cheap brews, strong cocktails, and friendly wait-staff are the order of business at this Indy mainstay. It has all of the earmarks of a good neighborhood bar - slightly scuffed wood table tops, Bud/Fireball/Jack Daniels posters on the walls, and at least 6 screens showing a variety of sporting events. If you're looking for an extra boost of Coaches Tavern's charm, stop by on a Tuesday evening after about 11:00 p.m. You'll be greeting by classic hip-hop from some of Indy's finest DJ's. I've been a huge fan of Coaches since moving here in 2012. Tonight I went there after an Indy Indians game and walked into a complete disaster. Today was Easter, but I watched the bartender eat more peeps than anyone I've ever seen. My friends and I also aren't sure how drunk she was based on her actions/communications, but I can attest that wine glasses were filled to the rim and mixed drinks in a pint glass were given a nice half a glass pour. We waited 5 mins to be asked our drink and then had to wait another 13 mins to be able to ask for a menu. Once we got the menu no one returned, even though our drinks were empty. Ending up leaving, no tip and going next door to Tin Roof where the specials and service was Excellent. We told the bartenders there that we were positive the bartenders were lit and they all started laughing. All they said was "sounds about right!" Don't think I'll be going back....which saddens me. All Star burger was awesome. Sweet location right down town, very close to bankers. This was the first time I ate here, normally come to grab some some drinks before a game or concert. Townie bar type of feel, which I enjoy. Plenty of TVs for games, tables and nice sized bar. Lunch menu makes it a perfect place to grab a quick bite. When my friend and I went to Indy, multiple people in our collective friend group suggested Coaches Tavern. Good food, fun people, chill vibes. I'm down for all three of those things. My friend and I walked in and took two seats at the bar. The bar is located to the left of the entrance, while there are other larger group seating arraignments to be had straight ahead. Looking at the photos on Yelp, this place has the ability to fill out. We must've come on an off night because it was pretty dead except for a group chilling near the front and a few bodies at the bar. The bartender still took awhile to get to us. Chatting with her regulars and other staff seemed to be more important than giving us a drink. Seriously, when I was cruising through the pics on here I actually saw the three gentlemen she spent an ample amount of time with. At least someone's getting service. When we finally received our drinks (draft beer and vodka soda), we were able to relax and watch the multiple televisions in front of the bar. There was a Pacers game that evening - as you can see, this is a few months back that I visited - and the bar became heavily fluctuated with people post game. Normally I'd be pumped for the excitement and amount of people coming in, but the distance between the rail that splits the dining section and the bar was not comfortable enough for people to navigate around anyone sitting up at the bar. It became increasingly difficult to sit where we were without being shoved every few minutes. We sat through another round before deciding enough is enough and pushing our way outside. I've heard the food is very good for a bar, so I actually want to come back and try it. We tried going to the bar to place an order and the bartender ignored us like we wore the cape of invisibility.
