Tale wha Brumfield was an amazing service! Polite, friendly, prompt and professional! 5 stars aren't enough for her!

Made reservations to make sure I could eat and watch the football game. Get here and ask to turn the station on, but they "don't subscribe to a sports package" and only have the local stations!? Oh, and they're out of two of the 12 menu items!! Limited gluten free options. And overpriced for quality of food. read more

Met up with a cousin for dinner last week after a conference. Relatively bland food; the spinach/artichoke dip, fish and chips, and warm cookie sundae were all just okay, but I'll give High Velocity this much--my house cocktail was stiff! Definitely a double, poured into a glass that was way too large for someone who needed to get on the road after dinner, but I wasn't complaining too much at the time. Prices were a little high for Indy (I live in Chicago and visit Indy regularly), but otherwise, you could do a lot worse in a hotel sports bar. Big ups to our server, who moved fast and was always lurking nearby. read more

John was our server 2 days in a row. 1st day we were seated in his section and he was over the top kind and attentive. I called and requested him the 2nd visit. He is a wonderful asset to this restaurant. We appreciate all his hard work! read more

I had a great experience at High Velocity today. The food was delectable and the service was impeccable. Takeema was an excellent serve. She has great customer service skill. She should be a trainer; people can learn fro her. Thank you and because of Takeema service I will be back. Also, hats off to the chef..our nachos and fish & chips A+. read more

Came here on a work function. Place is a high-end bar food type of place. They have burgers, and hotdogs and pulled pork type of food as well as some other dishes pulled from around the country. I would compare this place to a Champs if you have ever been there. I got the Jalapeno Pulled Pork sandwich and it was fine....not as good as Twenty Tap or Ralston's but I finished the whole thing. I took fruit as my side which was surprisingly fresh and great. What I did find cool on the menu were the absurd choices....such as The Buster which was a $50 burger that had 2 pounds of beef, onion rings, chili, fries and everything else on it that is served in a bucket. I did not order that ;) They also had a sampler platter type of thing (name escapes me) but it was also absurdly priced because it came with 20 wings, 8 burger sliders, dip and chips, and a few other things. If you don't mind overpriced entrees and you like bar food....this is the place for you.....as far as I go...I'll hold off unless my work is covering the bill...in which case this place is perfectly good. read more

Over hyped on Trip Advisor, service was good, but food was subpar to be polite. How do you mess up chicken wings??? Ours was soggy(not from the sauce either). It has all the evidence of boiled chicken wings and tossed in buffalo sauce. It doesn't have that crunch that chicken wing should have. Our imitation lettuce wrap was uneventful and fish tacos came with 4 soggy broken up tortillas. The fish should be the star and instead it was the tortillas that did in the worse way! Saving grace was there brownie and ice cream. For a place that's inside the JW Marriot they need to get there food right! read more

This was our back up restaurant because the other restaurant, Osteria Pronto was closed for construction work. Management proactively called us two weeks in advance and also offered us a free appetizer for the inconvenience. We were a party of 8 that arrived at 9:00 and were immediately taken to our table. It was a round configuration that made it easy for every to participate in the conversation. Wait staff was very attentive and continued to check on us through out the night, but not over bearing. Beer and wine selection was good....with a strong focus on local craft beers. Chicken wing appetizer was spicy, portion size to share for three to four. Portion size of the entrées were very large-enough to share-especially the burgers! Fish tacos were okay-just a bit dry-could have used more sauce. 3 stars for food 4 stars for staff/management-as we forgot to obtain our validation parking ticket and paid $22.00 for 1.5 hours. After talking to the general manager the next day-we were kindly and promptly given a refund. Don't forget to get your parking validated if you park in the garage! read more

The location is convenient if you're staying at the JW Marriott or here for a conference. The food is American so ranges from burgers to quesadillas. The food isn't great, but it is fine and an abundance. You will definitely need a post-meal nap after this meal. I had the quesadilla, which is huge and comes with the standard guac, sour cream, and salsa. The service can be a tad slow. We had a reservation and made it clear we needed to leave at a certain time, but sometimes it was difficult to find our server. read more

I stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks for a trade show- so I saw this place almost nightly. Service is hit and miss. As far as a hotel bar is concerned, they're pretty good. I had a couple different dishes (Fish and Chips, Reuben, Porkchop sandwich) here and would go back- service was the only real lack luster thing. But that seemed to be more tied to the time of day and server- not a problem for the business. The bar was well stocked with a vide variety. They serve Pepsi, yuk! read more

Having toning in my fridge but butter and Diet Coke, I stopped in here to watch a preseason football game. I love a good hotel bar, and I really love a good sports bar, so what could go wrong? And I have to say, nothing did go wrong. They had great local beers on tap, tons of TVs so I could catch the game pretty much wherever I looked, and they served me an awesome Cuban sandwich. Seriously, it was one of the best I've had: really tender pork, flavorful mustard and just pickle-y enough. It was pretty messy, but it tasted so good I didn't care that I didn't look great while I choked down. But what made the bar was the supreme people watching/eavesdropping. Hotel bars are great for this, and HV did not disappoint: watching a group of car salesman in town for a convention as they jockeyed for the tab, or listening to the office gossip of some office drones in town for a convention was strangely fascinating. The bartenders weren't overly friendly, but the bar was packed, and they were certainly attentive enough. I wouldn't say this is a great neighborhood sports bar, but it'd be great while traveling, and it's definitely fun for locals once in a while. read more

Not bad. Not amazing. This is typical hotel food, which means an above average hamburger, decent apps (I got the pot stickers), a few interesting dishes but mostly stuff you'd expect to see, like fries, wings, pork, etc. I did like the service for our group of three, and the fact that I could sit at the bar and get my food quickly. I also liked the ambiance and was fine with my food (the Cuban sandwich). One of my friends got a salad, which was huge. My other friend got a chicken sandwich, which also looked decent. Would I go back if I lived in Indianapolis? Probably, if I was staying at the JW again. Would I go back otherwise? Probably not, because Indianapolis is full of similar restaurants and nothing about High Velocity would pull me to it. read more

I stop and eat here when I stay at the JW Marriott and this will be my 4th time here. We decided to stop here for late night bites after being on the road. We sat in the restaurant area as we had a couple of little ones with us. The area is surrounded by tvs. We had a TV at our table that we could contol. My husband liked that. Now for the food: My husband had the chicken quesadillas. He said that they were just ok. They put beans in them and he says he now knows why restaurants don't put beans in quesadillas. It just doesn't work. I had the chili crock. It had really good flavor, my only gripe is that they overcooked the meat. My nephew and daughter had the hot dogs. They seemed to enjoy them because they ate them all. They're the type of kids to speak up when they don't like something. The hostess and our server were extremely nice. Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars because like I said, I have been there before. The other times the food was really good and it seems that they train the staff to match the service of the hotel. read more

Full disclosure: This review is based solely on my experience at the bar. High Velocity was the perfect place to stop in for a drink before heading out to sit in the sun and watch an Indians game. I ordered the spicy bloody mary and it was wonderful--spicy, well-garnished, and flavorful. If you can't handle heat, I'd definitely recommend the traditional bloody mary. The bloody marys were $10 each, which is on the upper side of average in Indy. Even though the bar was pretty busy, the bartender was quick and attentive. I have no doubt that I'll be back to High Velocity for another pre-baseball game drink in the future. read more

Unfortunately, I have to do an update on High Velocity. I still love the JW and the atmosphere at High Velocity, but the quality of the food has gone down. The last few times I was there I ordered the Buffalo Wings, and the wings were quite fatty. All I tasted was the fat. I also had a burger there and it really didn't taste that great. The first time I was here I was pretty happy. But the last few times I have come to Indianapolis (which I do about once a month), I have been looking at other dining options in the area. Hopefully the standard will improve, but it has gone a little downhill. read more

Location and pricing is good. The food is also good. Every year we come here after our convention and management is consistently snotty and unprofessional. The "manager" and his front desk staff could use some training on how to be polite, acknowledging their customers and making them feel welcome instead gathering at the front desk to laugh and discuss their customers. The waitress that helped us was AMAZING though! I wish we knew her name because she got our orders and our food came quick. She is, in my opinion this restaurants saving grace! read more

The bartenders here are amazing! Specifically Ryan, Nathan, and Tyler. They are super friendly and accommodating. High Velocity was awesome. Only downside was the lack of straws, but I guess that can be seen as a positive as well (yay environmentalism). The guacamole is AMAZING! I also had the pot roast sandwich with fries and they did not disappoint. 10/10 read more

Very good service. From the immediate attention from the host, to the quick responsiveness of the wait staff, the service is top notch all the way through the meal. There were several groups/meetings at the hotel, however service didn't suffer for the full restaurant. Price was good for a place in what I'd call a "high end" hotel. Very close to the Baseball and football stadiums. Thank you for not putting a larger than a pint beer into one of those danged "fish bowl" glasses! Lots of drink/beer choices. The bar food was definitely above the usual fare served at a bar and more especially a "sports bar." All the entrees we ordered were well prepared and hot. read more

Excellent salad, but Jake, (Jacob) made the salad taste better due to his Attention to detail, making sure all was the way I wanted and at the same time not being intrussive. He was great at explaining the menu options, offering a tasting of the soup of the day to see if I liked it, and offering dessert . Never rushed always polite. Thanks ! read more

I was in town for the NRA annual meetings and staying at the JW Marriott where this great sports bar is located. Great Bloody Mary and a killer Old Fashioned. Courtney, Elana and Kiana are great bartenders. Quick service with a great attitude despite being very busy. My burger was cooked to order and the fries were great. If you are staying at this hotel this place is a no brainer and if not, it's worth the Uber or can ride here. Tons of Tvs and all sports but the bartender service is a draw by itself! We went in while they were extremely busy and it was still VERY good! Top 3 best WINGS I've ever had!!! Our server "Angel" was among the nicest servers on the planet! I went to eat here as it was the in house restaurant in my hotel... the on screen menu have no phone number to order so I went in person... It was fairly empty. and very slow ( Wednesday night around 6 pm). once I got seated I learned they have only a limited menu currently (Covid). The service was GREAT I can't brag on our server enough... she was friendly/chatty and very knowledgeable about the menu and the town. Since no vegetarian options were available.. I ordered the only vegetarian appetizer there was, pretzels and beer cheese... the pretzels were among the very best I have ever had... hot, light airy, just the right amount of salt , the beer cheese sauce however was just not good... it had an overpowering stout beer taste that I found unpleasant. since I was unable to order an entrée.. I left after my appetizer. I may return f I am in town again and IF they have a full menu. I am giving 2 stars because of the limited menu. Service was 5 stars all day. The price is a little high as well.. I spent over 45 dollars on 2 orders of pretzels 4 waters and tip... read more

We've eaten here three times during our stay. The food is consistently DELICIOUS. The service is hit or miss- depending on everything from the server to how busy the restaurant is. It should never be okay to have a 45 minute delay on food ordered- in any restaurant- not sure if that falls to the kitchen or the server, since it seems like tables around us waited in by others seemed to get their food in 15-25 minutes. It makes for a not-so-relaxing meal. read more

Bad service and bad food. Was in town for the Indy Grand Prix and stayed at the JW Marriott. Ate the food from High Velocity twice - once in the restaurant, and once via room service. The bad reviews here are pretty consistent - clearly a hotel as nice as the JW needs to take a hard look at this place and make some changes. In the restaurant on Night #1, the food wasn't great but this was overshadowed by the terrible service. Had to ask for everything twice, from a glass of water to the pen I needed to sign the check. Never got the pen, so my son dug one out of his pocket and I charged it to the room, since I didn't think I'd ever see my server again. I scrawled my room number on the bill and left. I complained in a survey that night, and to their credit, the hotel management called me right away, and took the meal off my bill. On Night #2, we ordered off the same menu from room service. Took over an hour and two phone calls to get the food. When it showed up the order was incorrect (we ordered chips instead of fries.) But this night the sheer awfulness of the food overshadowed the service. Deserving special recognition is the "pot roast sandwich," which was three discs of mystery meat on a burned roll. Just horrible. The kind of food they wouldn't be allowed to serve in a prison. I promptly called and swapped it out for the Southwest Chicken Sandwich, which I'd gotten the night before and I knew was at least edible. Ninety minutes after I first picked up the phone, I finally had something I could eat. The bowl of chili was by far the best thing we ordered. I suspect this is probably from a can, because I I don't have much faith in the chefs of High Velocity. read more

I ordered a burger and it was actually really good. It was also a nice portion of food (actually more than enough. I couldn't finish it). I took away 2 stars for the following reasons. First, the menu is small. This was especially disappointing since there's a different menu posted online. Second (and biggest reason) I had an issue with the restaurant is the bartender. He was incredibly rude and spoke to us as if we were wasting his time. It is a shame because his rude welcome was after such a warm welcome from the JW Marriott front desk staff. read more

Stopped in for a drink before catching an Indians game. This place was beautiful, clean, and packed on a Friday night. Hard to find a table at the bar, even though it is massive. Drinks were good, they have Sun King and other local beers on tap. This is a sports bar with huge TVs everywhere. We just had drinks so I cannot say anything about the food, except from what I saw it looked good! read more

Sat at the bar with a friend on a Wednesday around 4 pm. We ordered drinks and when they came we asked for a menu. We were then asked if we were staying in the hotel. When we said we weren't, we were asked for a credit card to start a bar tab. I explained that we planned to order food, but the bartender still wanted a credit card. I am plenty old, and have been to plenty of bars, and have NEVER been asked for a credit card when food was involved. The only explanation I could get for this policy was that people had run out without paying in the past. I could tell that continuing to oppose this policy wasn't going to change this guy's mind, so I complied. My point is this: It is degrading and disrespectful to assume I am a candidate to run out on my tab. This bar is part of a brand new high class hotel. I'm sure the staff is geared toward serving high volumes of drinks primarily, but at four in the afternoon, it was not close to crowded, and I took offense to being profiled as untrustworthy. I won't be back, and I can't recommend the establishment based on it's unfriendly attitude towards customers. read more
