Cool atmosphere if you are meeting up with friends for drinks. Don't go with the intent of good bar food. The food is very basic at best.

First time here....bought the Be our guest coupons on Fox 59. By far this was the best restaurant we have tried...Kimberly our server was amazing! She was friendly and gave us the best recommendations for a cocktail and lunch! Our food was absolutely delicious and large portions. Highly recommend...food and service were excellent and we can't wait to bring our family! read more

Very quiet sports bar (we went in on a rainy afternoon). I had the salmon BLT without the B. It was very good. My husband had a regular cheeseburger (pretzel bun). Portions are large, so we did not save room for dessert. Maybe next time. read more

I am not sure what to make of this place. I went here late one night. The place was packed, the service was good, the food was decent. I went back the next day and the complete opposite was true. Absolutely no one inside, the service was the possibly the worse I ever had, and the food quality...well, let's say I don't know because the one thing our table ordered never showed up. The table ordered 1 dish to share (but lots of drinks). After 1.5 hours and multiple reminders, the food never came and the staff seemed as if they weren't surprised or didn't care. It was a cool venue but a horrible experience. (+) - Clean venue - Cool atmosphere - Great location (-) - Horrible service - Food never came - Some TVs did not work read more

My only regret is that I didn't get any pictures of the food because the presentation was terrific!! I loved this place!! The food was delicious, the drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was amazing, and the prices were better than expected. This place is attached to the JW Marriott and the waitresses and hosts have great customer service skills. We purchased the loaded fries with chili, the chicken quesadillas, lettuce wraps, and chicken wings all from the appetizer section of the menu. We ate every single bite ... the food was that good. I had a strawberry peach margarita to drink and loved it. I will definitely be back.. very soon! read more

My daughter and I were in town for a sporting function and decided to stop in for wings and a Mediterranean salad. The place was packed with cheerleaders and their families for their competition held near by. The staff was a little overwhelmed, but never did I feel our server wasn't trying his best given the circumstances. Both of our dishes came out as expected and were very tasty. read more

Angel and Emily T were wonderful and kind service is much needed after a long day of work. Drinks were made correctly and delicious. I recommend the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad with Cajun seasoning it it the best salad in Indy!! read more

I was at the GW for an event and just wanted to grab a quick bite with some friends. I was expecting a pretty weak hotel quality sports bar and I was very pleasantly surprised. My friends and I were greeted very quickly by Eric the bartender. He got us waters set us up with a round of drinks and made some great recommendations from the menu. We got a large order of steak nachos and it was more than all four of us could eat. But it was just a big portion it was truly delicious with great big chunks of steak on top. I was going to go with the traditional buffalo wings but Eric talked us into the cage and dry rub and what a fantastic recommendation that was. We basically ended up fighting over the last couple wings. All good size and tender as well. I have not had very good luck with food quality inn hotels in the past but this was really excellent. More than after the service is what made the whole thing. Eric was attentive and funny without being intrusive. I can't remember the name of the drink that Eric recommended but it was absolutely delicious and three of us ended up getting one for our second round. It had aviation gin local honey and some kind of berry extract or something it was fantastic. read more

My family of 5 had a late lunch/early dinner this afternoon at High Velocity. Paige was our server. She was very friendly, attentive and offered a great suggestion when the item I ordered was not available. All five of us were happy with our entrees. We also had the pretzels and beer cheese. Best pretzels I have ever had. Soft and warm! read more

Great food and large portions. Our waiter, Keelan was fantastic! He was attentive, kind, and accommodating.

I had the Salmon BLT and enjoyed it. The bread was slightly hard around the edges but the salmon was juicy and there was just enough of the mayo. It came with a whole dill pickle and fries. I really liked that the fries were salt and peppered and tasted great hot and cold. read more

Went here with a couple colleagues to watch a sports game and overall a pretty good experience. The first thing that surprised me was the parking. If you park in the hotel deck you will be shocked by the prices, fear not! High Velocity will validate your parking for free. Since I went here to watch sports I didn't end up getting any food, although the menu did look good. I did several different beers and was pleased with their selection. They have a good amount of beers on tap, ranging from local IPA and wheat beers to domestic lagers. I love the number of tvs, which is great to watch multiple different sporting events. The biggest downside was the service. The restaurant wasn't even filled that much and took slower than normal. read more

Thank you Tammy for your welcoming warmth and your great service! You are terrific!

I stopped in with a friend after an Indians Game on a Thursday night. The place was busy, but not too busy. They had plenty of TVs for sports viewing. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly. I had one cocktail off the menu and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back to try out the food at another time! read more

Food is good but the service is trash. If you're staying at the JW Marriott don't expect to get room service, even though it's offered, because they're "busy" and they don't answer the phone. The staff is rude. What a disappointment read more

Lets start with the good: Food is decent, decor is modern and the vibe is upscale trendy. The Bad: This place is a "Sports Bar" in name only. They have approx 50,000 TVs and every single one of them is at an awkward viewing angle so don't bother trying to watch anything....but you wouldn't want to anyway because during March madness they had....well, NOT march madness on. Its supposed to be a flipping sports bar....no NCAA college basket ball, even after asking? Oh, I'm sorry, the put the NIT on for some random jamoke from Temple who was wayyyyy to into a loser bracket tourniment. Service staff is in real need of training, except for 1 exceptional bartender. The rest seemed more interesting in talking amongst themselves. Note: If you put your empty water glass at the edge of the bar, they will just take it and not fill it. Why else did I put it here you herb who refuses to make eye contact? It is a Hotel Bar, so I suppose this is to be expected, but I was hoping for better from a JW Marriott. read more

My rating is based on service only. I sat at the bar since they were busy. I am pretty understanding when it comes to rush times. I sat for at least 10 minutes before my drink order was taken. Then, 15 min after that, I still hadn't placed a meal order but the bartender was taking orders from everyone around me who had arrived after me. Since I was under a time crunch, I had to leave. Waiting 30 min to place an order is unacceptable. read more

After attending the Pride parade, my group and AI were starving, but knew that most restaurants in the vicinity of the parade (Mass Ave) or festival (City center) would likely be packed. However, I f figured most people don't think about eating in a hotel restaurant of they aren't staying there, which is an absolute crying shame. High Velocuty was a great place to relax for a bit, put our feet up and escape the incoming heat and rain. My partner and I shared the chicken and waffle tacos (always a must) and sweet potato fries. We were well taken care of, and the food was great. My only complaint was that they didn't have decaf coffee, only regular, but if we wanted it badly, we could have stopped at a Starbucks. Would love to go back to take advantage of their patio and adult slushies! read more

Stopped by with my family yesterday before the Big Ten Championship Game. I remembered their touchdown platter (basically every type of tailgating appetizer possible) from a Yelp Elite event I attended there in the fall. We ordered it for our meal and it was more than enough food for four. The oNly trouble was that it took an hour and a half. There was trouble with the printer in the kitchen. But the manager and waiter comped is the entire platter and other food items we ordered, basically the entire meal eXcept for our alcohol. That service really made our day! Still a long wait of course but that helped to offset hangry people! read more

Great place to watch games, great service, clean facility, and Takeema is the bomb.com!

Decent beer selection. Nachos were good. Service was great! Prices are a little high, but it's a hotel bar, so to be expected.

This sports bar/restaurant is located in the JW Marriott downtown. We met some family here for dinner and overall we thought it was just "ok". We were required to make reservations. We tried for 7pm but we were told they were booked. We tried for 7:30 but that was also booked. We were able to get a reservation for 8pm for a party of 4. My husband and I arrived early and decided to get a drink at the bar while we waited. The bar area was packed so we had to stand. The bartender immediately greeted us and got our drinks right away. We noticed that the restaurant area was almost entirely empty so we weren't sure why we couldn't get earlier reservations. When I went to the restroom I saw that the entire back area of the restaurant had "reserved" signs on the tables but no one EVER showed up for those tables the entire time we were there. When our dinner party was seated we had a very pleasant waitress. She was attentive and polite. We all enjoyed our dinner but it was one of those "good, not great" kind of meals. Also, for them to market themselves as a sports bar I have to say that the only place to REALLY watch a game was at the bar. All of the TVs throughout the restaurant area were so far away that you couldn't really see them from the tables. We had a good time but I think we all would have preferred to go somewhere else and spent less money for the same quality. read more

The atmosphere was great, very family friendly. We sat at a table with our own tv and remote which made the kids very happy. I wanted to love this place but I felt like the food was so-so. The salad was soggy, it had way too much dressing on it. The salmon BLT was just okay. The bacon wasn't cooked very well which kinda ruined the whole sandwich. I would not order that again. We also ordered the loaded fries for an appetizer and the bacon was like giant chucks with a very strange taste. I guess my best recommendation is to stay away from anything with bacon on it and to order your salad dressing on the side. The kids did enjoy the s'mores dessert and the beer was cold! read more

This restaurant is only getting 4 stars from me not due to the staff or quality (both were great) but due to the fact that I am not a fan of sports bars. The staff were more than kind and very attentive which is not something I normally experience as a woman in a sports bar. They have a Sunday platter special and it has a little bit of everything on it. Everything was cooked exceptionally well and although most of the food was just regular American style food, everything had its own little twist on it. I will be visiting here again on a game day with friends! read more

I was sooo excited to go here and watch a football game and eat some bar food. I live in town, so it was a bit odd to go to a hotel restaurant to watch a game but I had heard such good things about the place. Overall: High Velocity had good service even though they were incredibly understaffed and swamped. Likes: The decor, the energy, service, the sports and the menu selection Dislikes: The food on the menu sounded good (like slightly higher-end bar food) and had lots of variety but that's where I was left disappointed. We had the crab dip as an appetizer (I love real crab dip with quality chunks in it- and this was not it-YUCK!), and then I had a side salad (a-okay) and a salmon entree- (cold and lacked seasoning- vegetable sides were not memorable and also just mediocre ), and we had the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream for dessert. To be fair, my husband ordered the southwest chicken sandwich and LOVED IT. I'll go back for drinks and I'll try another app or maybe a safer entree bet like a burger. This place is the perfect location for pre or post Indians games. read more

We were here for brunch and had the board pictured. We also had a breakfast sandwich and Bloody Marys. The board is done by person so you don't have to worry about having enough. My favorites out of the food we had were the breakfast sandwich and quesadillas. Great food for game day or brunch. The Bloody Mary had less spice than i would have expected but was otherwise good. read more

I don't consider myself a foodie by any means. But I know whether or not food is cooked or not cooked well. The place itself is so cool looking, it's located in Downtown Indy right under a hotel. Location-wise it's ideal because it's so close to everything in the downtown area like the park which is where we were coming from. I had a grilled chicken and French fries. The chicken is where my problem lies. I'm convinced that chicken was not cooked all the way, not to mention it felt cold. But not the kind of cold that comes from leaving food sitting out on the counter. It was like frozen, reheated, re frozen and reheated kind of cold. read more

Me reviewing High Velocity is something like me reviewing a blind date chosen by someone who doesn't know me--say, a conservative with a passion for football, polo shirts and strip malls. He's no love match for me, but perhaps he would make a wonderful boyfriend for someone else...? The metaphor is convoluted, I know--my point is the only reason I ever set foot in the bar in the new JW Marriott downtown is that a former coworker was having a send-off party. I parked my bike outside of Victory Field across the street and steeled myself before entering the glassy, somewhat upscale-looking interior, where TVs and a roving waitstaff wearing vaguely downscale-looking shirts and nametags abounded. We congregated near the back bar, which was a decent space for a large group. It wasn't an offensive experience, but the stated focus of this bar is sports. And while I do like some sports, I do not tend to enjoy bars dedicated to them. I also do not enjoy paying $8+ for a watered down Maker's and soda. At least they do have Sun King and Upland options on tap. But they're $6+ a pint. High Velocity is definitely not getting a second date with me, but if it sounds like your bag, go for it! read more

Never let it be said that you can't find something to eat in the late morning/early afternoon on Christmas Eve in downtown Indianapolis. However, it's difficult if you're looking for something other than fast food. Thankfully, the wife and I were staying at the JW Marriott and rather than venture out into the cold, wet weather, we opted for High Velocity, the sports bar on the property. High Velocity is a tasteful, modern, cavernous, and somewhat generic space with plenty of HD flat panels for watching sports. Given it was a Wednesday afternoon; they might as well have left them turned off. High Velocity's menu was fairly standard bar fare. Keeping it Hoosier real, I ordered the Pork Tenderloin sandwich ($13), which was topped with lettuce, tomato, and raw onion, jalapeño coleslaw, and poblano mayo on a brioche bun. It also came with fries, and a pickle. If Philadelphia has its cheese steak, Indy has its fried pork tenderloin. The sandwich was definitely Hoosier-sized as the pork tenderloin was pounded into a thin, almost Frisbee-sized disc, then breaded, deep-fried, and placed between the brioche bun with the meat extending far beyond its reaches. For what it was, the sandwich was perfectly fried, appropriately seasoned, and nicely crispy without the pork becoming rubbery or jerky-like. It was a tasty, generous sandwich and with the fries, left me quite satisfied. That said, I'm sure the same sandwich could be had for much less elsewhere in the local area, but we were paying for the convenience of it being in the hotel sports bar. If there was any downside to our meal, service was a bit inattentive, but I attribute that more to the fact that the staff was eager to get off shift early since it was Christmas Eve. High Velocity is what it is. It's not a destination bar or restaurant. As sports bars go, there are plenty of others in the downtown area that offer much more personality and excitement. As restaurants go, there are others that offer more bang for the buck. However, when your choices are limited or your lacking motivation to leave the hotel, High Velocity does the trick. read more

I ate here 3 times while in town for a show. The location is great, the food isn't spectacular, but it is good. The prices aren't astronomical which can be a challenge near convention centers. When you are on the road for a week for a trade show, those are the most important things in my book. Convenient? Yep. Good food? Yep. Crazy expensive? Nope. read more

My husband and I came before an Indianapolis Indians game for the Hotel Tango patio party. We had meals inside and they did not disappoint. We even got a 15% off gift card since we were first time visitors. On the patio, we both got two Gin Bravo slushees. Morgan, one of the managers, let us know that she prepared them. They were absolutely amazing. The service was awesome and there was live music. The music was great. He played all of the hits that allowed my husband and I to sing along. Overall, we had a great time at our first visit to High Velocity. read more

Cool hotel bar that has decent prices. I've traveled to many different hotels and most of the bars are way overpriced. This place is a perfect example of what the prices should be. The bar service was good but the wait service was just okay. It took awhile to get my order in, get my food and be able to pay for it. I had the Reuben and it was awesome. This made it worth the wait. The fries were also pretty good. Many in my group said they had a good beer selection. The decor was hip and they had plenty of seating. They also have lots of TVs so sports watching can easily be accomplished here. read more

Ariana is AMAZING!!! She is absolutely the best server I've had in my entire life. I'd come back to Indy just for her.

Emily was the sweetest server with the best service!! I love visiting this restaurant for a glass of wine and dinner when I'm in town/at the Marriott for business. read more

Worst service I've had in years. I had 4 meals during the weekend of the Indy 500 race and was less than impressed. With these outrageous prices you would think the food would be good but not so much. The southwest chicken sandwich was atrocious and even the French fries were undercooked and greasy. I also did not enjoy the fish and chips. read more

Not impressed with wait times nor service Richard I'm not taking 35 minutes for a set of pretzels and 15 minutes for two cocktails

While the bar itself seemed genuinely fine, for it being a sports bar the TVs are not exactly set in prime locations to watch. Sitting at the bar I felt like I was straining my neck like I was in the front row of the movie theatre. The beers and simple mixed drinks were slightly overpriced considering they are available at any bar downtown. For what it's worth it was still an enjoyable place to intake a game or have a drink. I'll have to come back again to try the food. read more

I love this place. I've been twice this week. I went initially to bring an out-of-town colleague to dinner, to show her Indy's nice new hotel. The service was excellent, we were delighted with the $5 happy hour menu and the drink prices. I came back tonight, dressed in a hoodie after volunteering at a wine fest, and we still received excellent service. Thanks to the happy hour menu, our bill for 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine, the best nachos I've had in a while and 4 sliders was about $30. We asked our waiter about the sports they show, and he said they have every sports package and even show UFC. SOLD. read more

I like the space, the menu options, and the food is pretty good. The drink prices are a little high, especially due to the fact that the mixed drinks are light on the pour. What is truly lacking is the service. I've been several times now and have had slow service, no service, and service with incidents every time. Because this is one of the few places to go in that area, it's a draw for anyone attending an Indians game, a concert at White River, a Colts game, any event at Military Park, and then the stragglers wandering in from a visit to the museum or people actually staying at the hotel. That being said, they hardly ever have enough servers for the influx of people, and the servers they have staffed really have no chance of providing good service. However, until any new places pop up in that area, it is one of the few places in that area that provide and casual dinner and drink spot. read more
