I wanted to love this place because its walking distance from my house but for some odd reason my mani/pedi was more painful than it was calming and the nail polish was so empty that the polish had a strange opaque color and finish after a day or two. i will probably come back during their $20 mon-wed specials and give them a second try. I give 2 stars for a few reasons: the ladies were nice, but- 1.) they only take cash tips (who carries cash these days) 2.) few color choices (we made it work) 3.) did our nails in the pedicure chair which was okay, but never put us under a nail dryer which helps prevent nails from turning colors & chipping 4.) toe nail polish peeled off 2 days later & nail polish peeled off completely in 4 days It was $25 for mani/pedi combo, but you'd be better off paying a little more and having it actually last at least a week. :( read more

This place is amazing. I'm not from this area and needed an acrylic fill with gel. I was lucky enough to get paired with Jaclyn. I told her exactly what I wanted and she blew me away. Came to get a gel polish and it is the best I've gotten by far-she took her time and made sure to shape my nails just as I liked. I've never gotten a gel put on so well and am confident it will last a good amount of time because she was careful not to put the polish on my cuticles. And the massage was sooo nice! Pedicure was well done too. I like that they smooth your toenails before painting them. I'm definitely going to become a regular here, especially because the pricing is reasonable as well. read more

Highlight nails is a cute little nail salon on Hawthorne. First time trying out this place yesterday and I must say that I was pleased with the service and quality of work provided. I didn't get the names of the workers but they were all attentive and my nails came out beautiful. Cute colors as well as a clean working environment. The best part is that on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays you can get mani and pedi both for 20 dollars! Although we had to wait due to them being busy, it was well worth it. read more

This is the type of place you hesitate writing a review for. Ya know, cause it's so good, you really don't want anyone else knowing about it? Well, here I am with a crisis of conscious. Apparently, they are so good, I'd rather see them have more business, than to keep them all to myself as Torrance's best nail salon. Monday-Wednesday you can get a Spa mani-pedi for just $20. They have quality nail polish in the salon...name brand OPI and more. My mani-pedi seriously lasts at LEAST 10 days for the mani, and closer to 3 weeks for the pedi...which is phenomenal. The salon is CLEAN, and doesn't smell like chemicals. I like that it's off the way...so I feel like I have some privacy and relaxation from the street/foot traffic going by. They aren't very chatty, but definitely friendly staff. The quality of their work is TWICE what you pay for(and I know, cause I've paid twice as much for similar quality and service). They put the salts in your pedicure water, give you a nice massage, and follow with a hot towel for your mani-pedi at no additional charges. Seriously, you get all this, plus the massaging chair...for $20 on the Mon-Wed. special. The regular price is just a few dollars more than that..$22 or $24, something like that. They polish so well, I rarely, if ever see them doing that lame "paint brush in nail polish remover" trick of the sloppy, inattentive manicurist. I have little complaints. Even if I ask them to avoid using the cuticle trimmer, and just push my cuticles back...the work is great! A lot of salons wouldn't know how to give a real mani-pedi sans those awful salon tools where they use a drill to smooth your nail surface, or use the cuticle trimmers on your cuticles...this place...no problem! They don't even pull out that nasty nail drill, and if I ask them to go without the cuticle scissors...it looks even better than it would if they were using the trimmers. I discovered this little gem while doing laundry next door at the Best Coin laundromat...which should give you an idea of how fast they get you in and out. Plus, I love treating myself and getting one of the fabulous lunch specials at the Chinese food restaurant 2 doors down. $8 for a delicious hot meal, and $20 for a mani pedi, and I am good and pampered. Where to even start. We get there Saturday the 9th. It's like a 20 min wait- cool. I came here with a friend to get our nails done for my bday. Wanted to get pedi and acrylics with a cute color. The woman that did my pedi wasn't so bad. Another coat of the polish wouldve been fine. Now the woman that did my nails. Holy crap. Took an eternity. She refused to fix my nails how I wanted. Every time I asked her to fix it it looked worked She cut me all over. Didn't even apologize for the deep cuts! And They're barely healing! She put like 3 coats of gel plus another clear one. They're chunky! It looks like I need a fill already and I just got this done Saturday the 9th. The gel is already chipping! I can't believe this. I didn't even have time to write this earlier but seriously. How disappointing. She took like 2 hrs!! Please don't get your nails done here. Not even a discount for the shitty ass job! read more

By far one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I came in for a fill, picked out the same color I usually get, and told her I want them to look pretty much the same but a little shorter because they had grown out. She began by filing my nails....for an hour! Used all kinds of different tools but was just filing my nails and it was so painful! Multiple fingers were bleeding and even though she filed for so long, 8/10 nails are uneven either on the top or the edge when she was done. Then she applied the color. The color that was applied to my nails looked like a cloudy-clear color and was not anything close to what I had before or the color I picked out and when I asked her to change it she told me it couldn't be done. They looked terrible and tacky. I was obviously unhappy so I felt like she tried to make it up to me by giving me a hand massage. The only problem was that she pretty much just dumped a bunch of oil on my hands and rubbed it around for 3 seconds. I had to go wash my hands because they were so greasy. A customer that came in shortly after me was denied service after having waited for 20 minutes and asked to come back later because there was a "wait"...even though the next few people that came in after were taken right away. Looking at my nails now makes me want to cry and I really wish I was that person that was denied service. read more
