One of the best Pork Tenderloins I've ever had. So tender you could cut it with a fork. Delicious batter with a very tasty white gravy. Served with two sides and hot homemade yeast rolls. I got the bubba burger, first off it's HUGE but the meat was very bland, when you say grilled jalapeño I expected a fresh jalapeños grilled not pickled jalapeños from a jar warmed on the flat top. The food was good. The steak looked dry but was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The chicken fried pork steak reminded me of pork fritters, that you would find up north but a lot thicker. It was so good! The fries were good ,mac & cheese were good, and the squash was very good. Dad loved the ambrosia salad too! They could have used more wait staff but we were not in a hurry. It's the perfect stop because it's dog friendly on their patio (although I enjoyed the openness and it seems they are enclosing it) service is good, & the food/drinks are great! We really enjoyed our dinner at High Cotton tonight. The food was excellent! We started with the Paris tower salad which was delicious and came out with a fried replica of the tower on top. We had the Bubba burger, the smoked fried chicken, and the panko crusted fish with the crawfish and shrimp cream sauce. There were no complaints from our group at all. Angela was our server and was friendly and efficient. We also appreciated the owner coming to the table to make sure we were enjoying our meal. First time eating there on Sunday afternoon, 11/19/23. Had a slight delay for seating even though there were plenty of open tables. The staff seemed a little flustered. The owners finally got them lined out after about 5-10 minutes and we were seated. Young waitress did okay but was a little overwhelmed after receiving a 12-top right after my party. Previewed their menu while waiting to be seated allowed us to place our food order at the same time as our drink selections were made to save time. (Especially in light of the larger group coming in). I ordered the Fried Pickles and Shrimp Brochette appetizers for my meal. My dining partner ordered the Soup & Salad combo plus a small order of the deviled eggs. Everything was delicious but the DEVILED EGGS ARE TO DIR FOR!!! We stumbled upon High Cotton on our outing to Paris. Such a cool place with a great porch that offers tons of outdoor seating. Inside is equally great with wood floors, booths and tables with antique chairs. Vintage Movie posters grace the walls along with vintage crate labels. Our service was great! Took a motorcycle ride out to Paris on a beautiful November Sunday and wanted to eat local (not chain or fast-food). We looked around the town square and everything was closed. Did a quick Yelp check and saw the positive reviews for High Cotton--which was open until 3 pm--and not too far from downtown. Very friendly greeting as we entered and we were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. I got the Deluxe Grilled Cheese basket and my riding buddy got the Southern Catch basket. The grilled cheese had a lot of very tasty cheese and the sour dough bread was nice--albeit a little soggy on the downside from all that delicious cheese. I would definitely order that again. My buddy enjoyed the fish as well--it was very lightly breaded so definitely more fish than fried--which is good. As we were paying our bill, Richard the owner greeted us and was very engaging. When he found out we were from out of town, he informed us of a local novelty (Jesus in Cowboy Boots) that we went to see. Very fun. True southern food in Paris, TX! The opening bread rolls, seemingly the most simple of offerings where absolute heaven! Melted in my mouth and were absolutely great. The hush puppies are what everyone who lives west of the continental divide hopes for. Crisp, crunchy outside, perfectly cooked corn-infused breading, all perfectly fried. The "glazed carrots" consisted of frozen crinkle cut rounds with honey substitute and too much salt. I was hoping for real carrots not even dreaming they'd be out of a frozen package. We've come into High Cotton Kitchen a few times to have brunch. Sometimes it can take a little bit to receive your order whether it's slower or busy. The food is always good and the service has always been fine. I really love the atmosphere. It's cute and charming. It gives you the southern feel with lots of fun memorabilia of farming, racing, etc. We are always finding different things to look at. We've had good food experiences every time we have gone. Food has tasted fresh and doesn't leave you feeling like you've eaten a heavy meal like a lot of "southern comfort food" restaurants. I'd love to see this place kick it up a notch and only offer local meats and other local clean ingredients. That's what this town is really missing -- this place has the potential to really take it to the next level by offering the highest of quality.
