Ribeye steak and green beans
Nicole P.

First timers to High Cotton Kitchen! Cute little "hometown" feel country cooking restaurant. Friendly greeter at the door (possibly the owner) thanking us for coming in. Great food and awesome steak! My only negative is they were out of side salads.

Overcooked and tough chicken fried steak

Food was not good chicken fried steak was overcooked and tough. Green beans were stringy. mash potatoes had a crust on the top like sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. asked for jalapeños gravy got regular. I tried to tell server and she said I'll be right back went her friend's table and never came back. Service was nonexistent. She was more worried about her friends and a table of men. I had ice tea and my husband had to find the sugar for me. Rolls were never brought to us. It is very crammed in here there was only us and 4 other tables so I can't imagine what it is like full. We were seated in a walkway even though there were plenty of other tables anytime someone wanted to pass my husband had to move or get up. We will not return or recommend.

Terrible! I ordered 2 chicken tenders and mashed potatoes and gravy. Seems like a safe bet, no?! The chicken tenders were precooked chicken breast, cut in half, then breaded and fried. ‍ The breading was super greasy and fell right off when you took a bite. Chicken tenders are my go to a lot and these were the worst I've had. Our waitress always also inattentive, and seemed as we were bothering here when we asked for something, like a water refill. There's gotta be something better in town. ‍

I love this cotton wreath - an homage to their being in Cotton Country.

I've been wanting to go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower with the cowboy hat on top, so I made a little jaunt up there this past weekend - it was a two-hour drive from my home in Bedford. I looked up restaurants in the area and found High Cotton Kitchen. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner - I was hoping to get there for breakfast, but alas...they stop serving breakfast at 11AM, and I got there five minutes too late. Happily, though, they have Chicken Fried Steak, and I'm always on a quest for the perfect CFS! They were super busy, but I was greeted immediately and seated promptly. I decided on the CFS with Baked Squash and Green Beans with Bacon as my two sides. I had my choice of either regular Cream Gravy or Jalapeño Cream Gravy, and I chose the traditional version. Hindsight makes me think that the Jakapeno gravy would have elevated an *excellent* CFS to the next level. The CFS was tasty and delicious. It was not super tender, but it never really is, is it? The green beans were sublime, as the bacon used for seasoning has a slight sweetness to it. The Baked Squash was tasty, as well. For dessert, I ordered the Red Velvet Cake to bring back home. There were four layers of red Velvet heaven cushioned with layers of delightful cream cheese frosting. The service was very friendly, and my waitress was Stephanie. She had the ability to handle four tables at once, keeping everyone happy without missing a beat. The restaurant was decorated with a cotton theme - after all, they're right up there in cotton country - plus, vintage pictures and funny signs. The restroom was clean and well maintained. I think Paris, Texas, is one of those places where you have to be going there to get there - one doesn't just pass through since it's off the beaten path. I stumbled upon the Veterans' Memorial when I went to see the Texas Eiffel Tower. It's worth making the trip, and I'll post a separate review about my visit there along with pics. I highly recommend High Cotton Kitchen! Go there - you'll be so glad you did!

Pot roast with savory rice and roll

My work travels took me to the town of Paris, TX for the week. Aside from abundant fast food restaurants, I just couldn't seem to find any cool places to eat. It's been a busy work week for me so after work, I was just too tired to go and eat at a sit-down restaurant. Fortunately, I was able to order food from here for delivery. I liked the place so much that I ended up ordering dinner from here two separate nights. The first night that I ordered dinner, I got the pot roast with side salad and savory rice, shrimp Brochette appetizer, and the cherry banana cream cheese pie. The pot roast had good flavor to it as well as the savory rice. But the definite winner was the cherry banana cream cheese pie. Wow, never thought the combination of cherry and bananas would work, but it definitely did. It was so good that I was tempted to lick the container. On the second night, I ordered the Big Mama's Meatloaf, side of green beans and savory rice, and the cherry banana cream cheese pie. The meatloaf was okay, nothing really bad to say about it besides maybe that it doesn't come with any gravy or any sauce. It was a tad dry, but not terribly off-putting. The pie was nothing but awesome again. I have to come back to Paris in a few weeks to complete my work assignment so I can tell you that I plan on grabbing dinner from here again that week. I have posted pictures of the food in takeout containers so I apologize for the presentation. You can't go wrong by getting food here.

Friendly Hostess sat us right away. Kiara, our waitress, very knowledgeable and attentive. Her Recommendation of Chicken Fried Steak. Spot On. Some of the most Epic Dessert Offerings that I have seen in one place. Handicap Accessible Restroom.

Here for the 14th and we've had breakfast here before. Excellent customer service, food. The Old Fashion great as well and the sweet tea.

Came here for my son's 15 Birthday This is my second review and the score has gone down. Service check, but took forever to get our food. My son's ribeye steak was Definitely not a 37.00 ribeye. Tough and no flavor and yes med rare Very disappointed.

Mango margarita

Stopped by this place on the way back from dropping the tractor off at Pyke's. Stopped in at another restaurant first and it was very non friendly and not so clean, so we left. Glad we did because this places atmosphere and staff were far superior. Tried a mango margarita, meatloaf and probably a desert too.

Garlic Shrimp. Everything but the shrimp were cold

I don't know where to begin! We were seated at a dirty table, it took almost an hour to get our food (4:30pm on a Sunday when there was only one other couple in the restaurant), the food was clearly just re-heated, and we didn't get our foods' sauces and sides until we were almost done eating. There were four girls that were Servers and instead of cleaning any of the dirty table around us, they were sitting together most of the time.

Small, upscale, night club vibe but not too swank where you felt out of place. Absolutely beautiful decor! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was cooked by their mother and you felt the love with each bite! We loved how we could sit and socialize for a couple of hours and not feel rushed. We waited on our food for about an hour but it was more than worth it and we enjoyed slowing down and catching up with friends. Something that's been lost these days. This place gets 5 stars for everything! Food specifics: The meatloaf was tender and delicious with a small amount of sweetness in the ketchup. The Oxtail was tender and savory. The chicken fried steak was absolute perfection. All the sides were delicious too. Fried okra cooked crisp and fresh. The greens had just the right amount of spice. But the Mac and Cheese was next level! We are amateur cooks and foodies so we have a lot to compare it to and Harlem Nights is top notch and is better than many of the upscale restaurants we've been to. That includes some Michelin Star restaurants!!

Literally everything we ate was incredible: the greens, fried okra, banana pudding, peach cobbler, chicken fried chicken, corn bread, and the chicken w/ waffles. All top notch!
