Very friendly service and it's very cute inside. Really good cornbread. I had chicken and stuffing Sunday special with greens and sweet potatoes. The chicken was incredibly tender and not dry at all. I try think maybe it's been brined in buttermilk overnight. It didn't even need the gravy, which I ordered on the side (I highly recommend that). Then I could dip and use just a small amount of gravy. It's an interesting dish, almost like the chicken was cooked in the dressing like a casserole. I have no idea how they did it. Very tender and easy to eat. Comfort food. Great greens. Good sweet potatoes (a little on the sweet side for me, but most people will love them, and they are very tasty). My dinner partner had chicken fried steak with greens and mashed potatoes. CFS was excellent, tender and crispy. Good cream gravy. Good standard mashed potatoes. There was a bit too much salt in several things for my taste, including the chicken gravy and the greens. Both were very flavorful but personally I would cut the salt for both. That's just me. But if you are sensitive to salt you might avoid those particular items or eat sparingly. Peach cobbler for dessert. Also Google will tell you they close at 4pm on Sunday. "Better than Grandma's" was what my kids said! I agree! There were several things we loved about this place and the food was just one of them! We loved the ambiance. Small, upscale, night club vibe but not too swank where you felt out of place. Absolutely beautiful decor! The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was cooked by their mother and you felt the love with each bite! We loved how we could sit and socialize for a couple of hours and not feel rushed. We waited on our food for about an hour but it was more than worth it and we enjoyed slowing down and catching up with friends. Something that's been lost these days. This place gets 5 stars for everything! Food specifics: The meatloaf was tender and delicious with a small amount of sweetness in the ketchup. The Oxtail was tender and savory. The chicken fried steak was absolute perfection. All the sides were delicious too. Fried okra cooked crisp and fresh. The greens had just the right amount of spice. But the Mac and Cheese was next level! We are amateur cooks and foodies so we have a lot to compare it to and Harlem Nights is top notch and is better than many of the upscale restaurants we've been to. Well, I never would have known this place existed if it wasn't for my wife's desire to try new foods. I love trying new food, but she has a whole new level. It's gonna make this move to New Mexico amazing. Anyway, that's not important. So, Harlem nights, this place has an amazing interior, ambiance, and just a great vibe. The food and the service is great, and here is a snippet of what we had. Also, I should have had the chicken and waffles, but it was dinner time so I had collard greens and wings instead. My favorite chicken and waffles is in philly, but i need to try these ones. Greens are good, and the wings are amazing. Nothing spicy or too salty. My wife, she had the chicken fried steak with okra and potatoes. She is a true texas, I am not. Although, she said it was the best in the area. That was def alittle heavy for me to eat. This place was absolutely delicious. I've never seen a restaurant with only 5 stars before, so when my dad and I were in town, we were so excited to try it. The food was just genuine southern comfort, and growing up with that, this was one of the better places we've ever tried for it. My dad even said it tasted like how his mother used to make it (very high compliment :)) The seasonings on the fry for the chicken fried steak were immaculate, and pair it all with a little hot sauce and Kool-Aid, it was perfect. Food is superb! I do not like overly salted food overly spicy food just good flavor. This restaurant Harlem Knights has that me and my husband are from Mesquite Texas and we come through that way fairly often. We just found this place Sunday and we'll be returning as we were sitting there. A young man came in that had a nervous affliction. We were not sure what his issue was, but he was very unstable. The patrons and the owners took his order .It took a while to figure out what he wanted since his speech was not easy to understand.After all was said and done the owner paid for his food, which made my heart proud.Now I will let you all know how the food was. I had the chicken and dressing with cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. My husband had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cornbread. We had banana pudding for dessert. Let me tell you something. It was very very good. It isn't often that I am happy with chicken dressing from other places because I make a really good chicken and dressing, but this one was really close to what I make so just letting y'all know it was good. Another thing y'all need to know. this is a nice beautifully decorated place in a small building, but it is not formal in anyway even though the decor may look formal they bring you the food in Styrofoam to go boxes and the drinks are in plastic cups with plastic silverware that saves a lot of money.I don't see a problem with that at all. read more

This was are first time, we ordered to go. Both of us had the chicken fried steak. It was cooked to perfection, Gravy was seasoned well and smooth. The cornbread was just as good as any Memaw's in South Louisiana. My husband had the Mac & cheese it was creamy and delicious. He had also ordered the yams but was given 2 Mac & cheeses he wasn't mad about this. I had the yams and the mashed potatoes. Yams were just delicious! The mashed potatoes were not that great. They could of been boxed they were gooey. Overall besides the potatoes and the side mix up. It was really great food. We will definitely go back. I highly recommend you give it a try. read more

oh my goodness, this place is true gem!!! we drive almost 2 hours to get here and the only regret is that I could not eat all of my food. I ordered oxtails with sweet potatoes and greens and my husband ordered fish and shrimp with fries. The food was fresh, hot, and seasoned to perfection and the portions were enough for two meals. The service was super friendly as we were greeted upon walking in, seated and our orders taken quickly. Staff checked to make sure our food was satisfactory and checked on us through the meal to ensure we were enjoying the experience. the restaurant itself was impeccably clean, well lit and decorated so nice. despite the long drive, we will certainly be going back for Sunday dinner. Absolutely beautiful restaurant with delicious good old fashion southern soul food just like Grandma used to make served with a smile. I cook a lot of down home southern soul food, I am dang good cook, but sometimes I don't want to cook it myself, sometimes I want someone else to feed my soul for a change and boy did Harlem Nights feed my hungry soul. I had the chicken and dressing with a side of greens and mac n' cheese while my husband enjoyed the fish and shrimp with mac n cheese and okra, we started off with some tasty fried green tomatoes. All homemade deliciousness! The food was out of this world and they weren't stingy, the portions were huge and the prices were great. I have enough chicken and dressing to last my aging body a few days and my husband walked away with a huge whole hand breaded fish filet and 4 shrimp. My husband polished his off when he got home and declared "it's even good cold!". They were pretty slow as they only had one cook due to being understaffed tonight, we didn't complain as the food was worth the wait, but the cook came out and still sent us home with some delicious peach cobbler and banana pudding to enjoy when our tummies weren't so full. Bottom line, if you love good granny style home cooking, IE: soul food, this is the only place in town you will find it cooked the right way! You could feel the love in our food, we WILL be back.
