It also has a non-motorized watercraft launch site, with a small boathouse. It has a huge well manicured lawn sloped towards the water, providing plenty of space to stretch out and sunbathe or read a book on a sunny Seattle day. And it has a small playground with a jungle gym for youngsters. There is off-street parking, and it is walkable from downtown Bellevue, letting you pass by (hidden) million dollars waterfront homes. In some cases, the land is worth more than the existing property, and construction was prevalent. The park, along with the nearby city of Clyde Hill and Clyde Avenue, are all named after the River Clyde in Scotland. No sand. Instead the entry into the water are a series of solid concrete steps, and I didn't see much overgrown algae or weeds; the water was relatively clean. There is a lifeguard chair, occupied during the summer month days. There is also available flotation life jackets for water safety.

It only has a few parking spots, but parking in the street is another choice (just remember don't leave valuables to the sight) This park is great for toddlers, it has a beautiful playground, a whole sand area to play with two manual excavators . It's a good idea to bring a basketball to play in a nice court. Oh! And if your little one needs to run to the restroom, here's one open to the public. Have frequented many times and the park-goers are well behaved. You see Kids riding bikes around with parents or a competitive tennis match in the court ( almost in the parking lot - cant miss it) or someone taking a jog with their dog. Playground tends to be younger kids and parents. Not so many past age 6 at least when i've gone. I also have found it to be pretty quiet and you're surrounded by trees -no busy street traffic. Spanning 77 acres of Lake Washington lakefront on Mercer Island, Luther Burbank Park was named…read moreafter the famous 19th century U.S. horticulturalist, who crossbred to introduce flowers and crops, including the Russet Burbank potato (famously used by McDonald's to make their iconic french fries). I had the opportunity to visit it twice during a 2 night stay on Mercer Island. It was one of the nicest waterfront city parks I've visited. There are two entrances to the park, with the North and South entrances leading to large free parking lots. The South Entrance was the closer one to both the light rail station and our Airbnb, both about a 20 minute walk away. The South parking lot is closer to the Swim Beach (a nice little beach with a protected swimming area). It is also closer to the Earth Sculpture "The Source" (to me, a cross between crop circles, Indian mounds, and a labyrinth. My wife mentioned she felt a different energy from it as we walked by. The Meadow is a large picnic area between the two parking lots. The North lot is close to the tennis (now pickleball) courts, and all were filled when we walked by. The Amphitheater is also located nearby, and is the place for free performances during the summer months (for 2026, performances of Macbeth by Seattle's Shakespeare Company. At the north end of the park, are two off-leash dog areas (one for smaller, more shy dogs). My son-in-law and daughter took their mini-dachshund there to play, which was enjoyed by everyone. Small note about Luther Burbank: many parks and schools are named after him, including Luther Burbank Elementary School(s) in Long Beach, CA and Burbank, CA (though the city itself was named after a different Burbank).

First off I had no idea they added pickleball courts and was impressed at the 8 very nice courts and good level of competition. The format took a little getting used to as it appeared to have been 4 on, 4 off. I could tell there were a lot of regulars here and everyone really came to play. I wish I could've played here again but I guess it will have to wait until my next visit.

The fields were also bustling with kids throwing footballs, running and playing. The basketball court and tennis courts, also full, kept older teenagers and adults out in the sunshine and active. Two-hour street parking seemed relatively easy to come by, and with the library and a community center right there, the space is perfect for all things Saturday.

With Kirkland Urban completing the key elements of its construction, it is a fully open connected space between the sizable Peter Kirk Park and Kirkland Urban. The park is well organized, easy to access, and plenty of space to enjoy sun, have a picnic, or people watch. Highly recommend.
