Located in the city of Bellevue in Washington state, Clyde Beach Park has waterfront entry to provide swimming in the calm waters of Meydenbauer Bay on Lake Washington. It also has a non-motorized watercraft launch site, with a small boathouse. It has a huge well manicured lawn sloped towards the water, providing plenty of space to stretch out and sunbathe or read a book on a sunny Seattle day. And it has a small playground with a jungle gym for youngsters. There is off-street parking, and it is walkable from downtown Bellevue, letting you pass by (hidden) million dollars waterfront homes. In some cases, the land is worth more than the existing property, and construction was prevalent. The park, along with the nearby city of Clyde Hill and Clyde Avenue, are all named after the River Clyde in Scotland. No sand. Instead the entry into the water are a series of solid concrete steps, and I didn't see much overgrown algae or weeds; the water was relatively clean. There is a lifeguard chair, occupied during the summer month days. There is also available flotation life jackets for water safety. read more

It's close to the water and there is a large playground for the kids to enjoy. I'm not sure I would swim in the water or eat the fish but Clyde Beach Park is a nice place to enjoy a lazy afternoon. There are green lawns to spread a blanket out on. It's a nice little park near Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue where you can spend some time in the sun near the water. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon, walked from Meydenbauer Park down the street where we parked. The park is really small, has a roped off area for swimming but the water didn't look very deep. There was a lifeguard when we were there, and I saw a person fishing and people picnicking. read more

First of all, I love that Clyde Beach Park is a hidden gem in Bellevue. It's located in the middle of a neighborhood, right next to Meydenbauer Bay and walking distance to Downtown Bellevue. Because there are only houses around the park the only people that seem to visit here are the residents nearby, which is why the park is never too busy and primarily why I'm a fan. Once you enter the park you go downhill where the water and dock are. There's a small parking lot and some designated side parking, and again, because of how unknown the park is, I've never seen the lot full. It's a good 40-minute walk for me from where I live in Downtown Bellevue, which is way on the other side. But the park is closer to Old Main. There's not much to it, as it doesn't have a lot of amenities, yet there is enough lawn space to sprawl out and chill. There's also a few picnic tables and benches on the dock, which look out to the water. I've seen people dive off the dock and there is a seat for a lifeguard (yet have never seen one on duty). There are bathrooms, a water fountain and a small playground area for children. Clyde Beach Park is a nice neighborhood park that's never crowded, which is especially key on sunny days. Since the lawn is on a hill, I love laying out here for the views. There's nothing like watching the sun set along the water in the beautiful Pacific Northwest! read more

First of all, it's hard not giving all Bellevue parks 5 stars because come one, they're all very nice and I feel it's a luxury to be able to have so many public parks available! Clyde Beach Park is great for toddlers through elementary school. It's nestled within a neighborhood so overall it's pretty quiet - aside from any noise you make! The overall highlights include: - pirate ship play structure - a huge (sloping) grassy lawn - a smaller level lawn - 2 different swimming areas - nice public bathrooms. This is a great park to bring a blanket and picnic to and spend several hours. There is a lot of grass! Much of it is sloped, but it's not uncomfortable, and everywhere you sit has an amazing view of Meydenbauer Bay. The swimming area is probably the best feature, there is a whole bank of steps roughly 50 feet wide (picture a tiered amphitheater) leading down to the shallowest swim area. This is great for younger kids, and the area is roped off. There's a deeper swim area also roped off. There's also a dock you can jump off, swim around, or just hang out to enjoy the beautiful view of the bay. Check out the photos to see the setup. There is a lifeguard on duty during the summer season, but I'm not 100% sure of their schedule. The pirate ship play structure is big enough to not feel too crowded. There are several levels of activities, and 3 of the 4 sides feature that rubbery surface that helps with falls. There is a nice bathroom facility and parking for at least 20 cars. read more

Having made an extensive tour of the beach parks in Bellevue, I've concluded that Clyde Beach is the pleasantest place to hang with a book and a picnic lunch on a lazy summer afternoon. The nicely landscaped grassy slope affords plenty of swaths of both sun and shade from which to enjoy the views of water and the mansions of West Bellevue. The only thing that detracts is that the sprinklers work overtime here; the grass tends to always be a bit damp. Bring a waterproof mat or a lawn chair to sit on. read more

Great place for lunch during the weekdays to get away from downtown Bellevue. Try to park on the side towards the lake to get the best view if you plan to stay in the car. Be careful when leaving because of the high paved hill at the stop sign, most cars that I have seen have scratched the bottom of the vehicle. read more

Great place to take a break or swim on a nice day. Like other parks in the area it can get a little overrun with young children, and isn't as large as some of the other parks in the area. Close to Downtown Bellevue. Follow the street down to Mainstreet for food and such. My favorite memories are walking to get coffee and pastries from Belle Pastry, and then walking to the Park to enjoy. read more

This is a nice and well-maintained park. Sometimes my co-workers and I will come during our lunch break. The views are great and it's not too busy. If it's sunny, bring your sunglasses as there is no shade. There's not very many picnic benches... maybe two or three... but lack of seating has never been an issue. There is a playground for the kiddos and during the summer there is a lifeguard on duty. I hate driving here because the exit to the park is very steep. I am always nervous I'm going to get in an accident because it is hard to see oncoming traffic coming around the curve on Lake Washington Blvd. read more

A nice big expanse of green lawn, flowers, picnic tables, a play area for kids, and a place to swim. I've been to most of the other beach parks in Bellevue now, and this one is my favorite. And it has the fewest mosquitos, too! read more
