But there seems to be a lot going for it for those living in the area or visiting. There's a community center with a pool, restrooms, water fountain, a trail where you can walk and ride your bike around, a playground, covered picnic areas, accessible parking and a large open space in the center for just about whatever your heart desires. Located in downtown North Bend, it's easily walkable from the businesses and many residential areas around. Nice to know that the city of North Bend has a great community space to go to. I came here to enjoy my takeout and take a break from hiking, and and was happy to have such a large open space to myself. Well, it felt like I had the park to myself even though there were others around. Now I know where to go in North Bend for when I want to relax outside.

Built in the 1930's, it is a former WPA project. Until the early 2000's, it was part of the King County Parks system when it unceremoniously closed in order to save money. Fortunately, local community members banded together and formed King County Metro Parks. Visions were shared, plans were made, Public Bonds were proposed and passed. In the past several years we have seen the property and building transformed. It supports and/or hosts many classes and local events, including Family entertainment (Family Night), a variety of seasonal craft shows, Haunted House, Festival at Mt Si, North Bend Farmer's Market and much, much more. There's a local pool which offers classes, inexpensive swim sessions and rental for parties and events. The Community itself is also available for events. But if you really want to experience it for yourself, come out for the Farmers Market and free concert (featuring local bands and musicians) every Thursday afternoon throughout the summer, OR come to the Festival at Mt Si over the second weekend of August. The Fish Sticks are a summer collegiate baseball team who plays at Mel Olson Stadium located inside of King County's Steve Cox Memorial Park. The team prides itself on providing fun, affordable family entertainment. We came for a Dick's Drive In promotional night and left pretty impressed. This sports complex is very cool and is what a lot of our local communities could use. The baseball stadium is reminiscent of an old time minor league stadium that is very intimate. With open seating there isn't a bad seat in the house. The team running the promotions really did a great job and kept the crowd into it. We also bought some nachos and a Beecher's mac n cheese bowl and a souvenir soda cup from the concession stand and enjoyed the food. Overall, this is an affordable and fun Summer evening event with lots to see. The "home team" also won by a sizeable score so that helped!

I grew up coming to see it all the time as my Dad was so proud of it. Well, my Dad passed away in September and we opted to make this the location for his memorial service, as it was for my grandfather as well. The staff was helpful in letting us have the space to set up early, and it served as a lovely venue for the memorial. The stands are spacious and can fit a big group, the bathrooms were well stocked, and it's a great spot on a sunny day, as we were fortunate to have. I am sure it's a great spot for kids to play ball too!

While the fields are older, equipment and amenities in the "well-loved" condition, it is still a great place for kids in LL to play some ball. Please remember, LL is purely powered by volunteers. It is a safe assumption that this property is maintained in the same manner. It may not be shiny and new- but the fields are playable, the stands are sturdy, and the kids who play here have a blast. 4 stars- cause while there is room for improvement for this property- it is amazing to see a community attraction that is run from selfless community activism!!

The fields were also bustling with kids throwing footballs, running and playing. The basketball court and tennis courts, also full, kept older teenagers and adults out in the sunshine and active. Two-hour street parking seemed relatively easy to come by, and with the library and a community center right there, the space is perfect for all things Saturday.

Peter Kirk Park is a suburban park that is ex-large in size with more than the typical amenities. Picnic tables, a sizable playground, tennis courts, skate park, seasonal swimming pool, and public parking round out the top features. With Kirkland Urban completing the key elements of its construction, it is a fully open connected space between the sizable Peter Kirk Park and Kirkland Urban. The park is well organized, easy to access, and plenty of space to enjoy sun, have a picnic, or people watch. Highly recommend.
