The dirt field was fun as it allowed us to adapt our soccer skills to different natural conditions (standing water on a dirt field, inches thick mud, loose dirt, and dirt hard as pavement because it froze in 20 degree Fahrenheit weather after a rain). The times the dirt froze helped up become more conscientious runners on the field, especially in regards to how we would run so our feet would not catch on the frozen dirt. Aside from the soccer field, there is grass area to warm up, walk around, or take a picnic. A trail system winds around the two ponds. On my visit today, Wednesday 26 July 2023, I saw geese, ducks, a great blue heron, a few small blue dragonflies, and gray squirrels. The restroom building had running water and soap. Parking was abundant as it was quiet, on days we had soccer games it could fill up quickly.

Now because there's a pond or lake next to the field there's a great possibility of losing your $150 soccer ball when it flys into the lake. Come on the least you could do is put up nets to avoid ball loss or drowning. On a positive note there nice new field turf down on the ground. Fake grass is amazing to play on. Also a short distance away is Jerseys Sports Bar for after game nacho's & beers.

It's nice because you put your paddles up, wait like five min, then you play a game and only have to wait another five min or so before you play again. It's nice to keep playing with a random selection of people. Typically my wife and I will split up the teams since we're not as good as the average player here. The only downside to shoreline is that you can't indicate your level, so it's kind of luck of the draw unless you coordinate who you want to play with. Technically they do have these magnets you can put down to show the level but no one uses it. Whenever I go elsewhere I try to find another court like shoreline. Most pickleball courts have the problem of being either too crowded, or not crowded enough (people are only playing with their friends, no rotation). For example green lake is ridiculously crowded.

Following the finishing of the tearing down of Shoreline Pool in 2022, the parking that was previously designated for the pool has opened up to those using the park. There are trails through the woods with benches speckled throughout the trees, a small play area, and trails behind the fence above the soccer fields. In addition to soccer fields there are tennis/pickle ball courts. A restroom building with an exterior water fountain is located towards the end of one of the soccer fields. During the summer months and the autumn the fields can be in high use. When I ran track and field for Shorewood High School in the Spring of 2007, some of the more adventurous runners would run some of the trails for warm-up. The Springs of 2009 and 2010 we used the fields for dryland training in water polo in addition to our in-the-water training at the pool. All three years, the park was quieter in the spring than the summer/autumn seasons.

There are also amenities for playing baseball and a water fountain near one of the fences on the field. One thing to be careful about if you play ball sports such as soccer on the field is the ball not going onto the Einstein Middle School field/track. The parking lot is large and one side looks out over the grass playing field, making it convenient if it is your snack week and you need to get the snacks from the car. A small restroom building is open depending on the season. A port-a-potti restroom was stationed near the parking lot, that one was open. When I visited on Sunday the 17th of May 2020 the playground was roped off, I am guessing this is related to COVID-19. Picnic tables are interspersed throughout the park and have a variety of views. A portion of the park is dedicated to the Hillwood Park Wetland and a few signs provide information about the water flow, plants, and wildlife in the area. A fun place to explore be it to learn about the ecology of the area and/or for sporting activities.

First off, it's indoors, which means swimming all year round. It's huge, has diving boards, a few bleachers to sit, and is freaking cold. Sign up early for lessons and classes. Always call ahead to check for closures due to cleaning and maintenance. These people really need to heat their pool better. Especially for all the kids swimming in it. We've done the baby class here and it's terrible for children and infants to have to brave cold water. I've seen plenty of people having to leave early because their infant can't handle the cold. I know they've been informed of the problem, but they don't seem to care. And honestly, it is a tad cold even for me and I'm a god damn Polar Bear Plunge member! I love to cold water swim but not when I'm in a pool. The locker rooms are decent. Clean. Enough benches, only one changing table though. Plenty of hooks, lockers, showers and toilets. Even some crazy-spiny-dry-your-wet-stuff thing. Strangely enough, Seattle sure has some body issues. It's just silly to see grown women nervously and dangerously stumbling under a towel so no one can see their "goodies" while trying to carol their children. Maybe I've just been in the medical world too long or I just have no shame. Either way, prepare to get looked at like a leper if you get naked without reservation. The parking is ample, though you get plenty of Lake City spill off and slack-jawed yokel teens running around. So watch your belongings and lock the doors. Vandalism and break-ins are normal.
