I have come to Shoreview Park throughout my life for a variety of active purposes, be it as part of…read moremy soccer team, track and field practice, taking the dog for a walk/run on-leash, getting in running shape, and taking/doing biodiversity plots as part of my Environmental Science class at Shoreline Community College. There are a number of play fields, two set-up for baseball/softball and one we used for soccer games. The grassy unfenced baseball field serves as a good place for running drills and soccer warm-up. Prior to the addition of the playground by the soccer field there used to be a grassy area where we could stretch and do some warm-up exercises. There is a trail/path around the outside of the soccer field that I have paced and is approximately 0.2 miles (without cutting corners) so five laps makes a mile. I find this field to be a perfect place to get back into running shape. It is tucked away from the road, so it does not feel like one is running on display for the roadway. Trails to the North/Northeast take you to Boeing Creek Park, and trails to the East/Northeast take you to the Shoreline Community College Off-Leash Dog Park (also called the Shoreview Off-Leash Dog Park). Trails to the North/Northwest/West of the athletic fields take you past Hidden Lake. I came here recently, this past Saturday the 30th of May 2020, and today, the 1st of June 2020. On Saturday it was raining and I brought the dog, Schatzi the Münsterländer, along with me to walk a little ways on the trails, do some exploring, and run a few laps together. Schazti was soaking wet by the end and when I went to grab a towel from the trunk of the car she was so excited to get someplace dry she jumped right in. I got her to go to the back seat, and had the towels to wipe her down. None of the fields get particularly muddy, so it was mostly plant and grass that stuck to her fur and some dirt that I had to worry about when she got in the car. Today I came to run a few laps on my own and explore the park a little more as it has been a while since I had last done that. I arrived around 9:40 a.m. and left around 10:10 a.m. By the time I was leaving the parking lots were starting to fill up. Busy place on a clear day and a healthy reminder that summer is coming! A fun park with a variety of offerings that change with the seasons so there is always something to do or explore no matter the time of year.

It's definitely underappreciated, which…read moreis good for me to avoid crowds, etc. There's tennis and pickleball courts, a dog park, athletic fields, trails, and even a (gross) lake nearby. Shoreview is probably the same size as Magnuson, but shadier, so it provides much needed relief on sunnier and/or hotter days. Since it's so big, there's always parking available in multiple places throughout. If you want flat trails, there's those. If you want elevation, there's trails that go up higher, too.

Most of the time, I'm playing softball, but occasionally I'll play a game of kickball. The fields are definitely the best Underdog fields in the city; well maintained, lights at night, and pretty deep fences for smackin' some HRs. There's always a game or 4 going on, so if you're waiting to play yours, have a sit and be entertained by the kickball, softball, baseball, or soccer games on any of the fields. The bathrooms are always well maintained and on busy summer days, there's concessions. If you're gonna play sports in this city, this is where you're gonna want to do it.

My biggest complaint is that it is a little difficult to figure out what # the fields are. The parking lot can also be a little tight and crowded. Additional parking can be found up near the tennis courts, if you are not familiar. Its also nice to have some real bathrooms here, which many soccer fields do not have.

Serene little park that offers a shady respite for people & their littles, including fur babies…read more I've not mastered the ins & outs of the trails bc I'm admittedly directionally challenged, but there's basically a corridor path that runs down the middle, and meandering paths on either side. It's peaceful & shaded- usually quiet. We appreciate having such a great park minutes from home.

Hamlin Park is a lovely place to go on a walk and enjoy the tall trees and wildlife. Trails run…read morethroughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. The morning sun and cool air was very refreshing for a forecasted hot day.

It was just available for workers, and a regular guy went into it and started harassing us while my kid was playing in the playground. It didn't feel safe. Anyone can get into. I am glad it is fenced. I told an elderly lady about it and she was nice to me although other people felt used to it :( Be aware of your kids around, please! It also wasn't that pretty on summer with machinery around. But kids lived watching it!! There is always someone by the pool making sure it is clean, and I am thankful for them. We always say hello because they help us. I wish they could help us also reporting previous kind of situations. Courtyards are next to the pool, too. They get busy with pickle boarders fun to watch :) I believe courtyards could get a little revamp. Weird there were various adults, but just 2 toddlers using the wading pool.

I play a lot of pickleball and appreciate that these courts have 8 courts lined for pickleball and…read more8 semi-permanent nets. Nice to have a bathroom in the community center. I usually park in the residential areas around the court. Everyone drives too fast on 130th, lots of loud cars and fire trucks, the area usually reeks of marijuana, and there are definitely a lot of sketchy people around, but it's one of the best courts for pickleball so one just deals with the craziness around.

Wonder how many really were parked for baseball vs touring wineries? Location- waze was a bit confusing but its in the loop right next to chateu st michelle and purple. As in, in the loop. Large gravel lot for parking Pay at gate for entry ($5 adult, kids under 7 free) Concession had lots of options including ice cream man ice cream,burgers, etc. Real bathrooms and sinks were clean. No playground meant my 3 yr old was grumpy. And not really an area for him to run and play except the main path where there was constant foot traffic. The fields were very well maintained. Not much space between fields so it seemed more crowded than it was. Bleacher seating but lots of parents brought their own chairs.

The road around the outskirts of the park isn't the best for running, as the road has rocks and encounters traffic lights. I recommend running inside the park instead. This is a very nice with tons of play equipment for the kids. There is also a rope tow thing way…read morein the back woods that kids can transport themselves (like a zip line but not exactly a zip line) back and forth in a straight line. Additionally, there are two off leashed fenced arenas. One for big dogs and the other for little dogs. Pretty good boundaries for humans also. The park itself is well kept and maintained on a very good schedule. The people who go to the park are 85% really good folks. The other 15% of the people are rude and racist. Still, that doesn't change that the VENUE is a NICE ONE.

The biggest zipline swing I have seen thus far at a park... I arrived at Esperance Park this…read moreevening, Wednesday 21 June 2023, at about 7:50 p.m. I had not been to the park before, so I started walking the gravel path past the off-leash dog areas and a large grassy area. As the gravel path neared some tall trees I noticed a dirt path into the woods. Following the path into the woods I heard different birds calling. Then I spotted a neon green structure with steps and a ramp and I went closer to figure out what it was. It was a large zipline swing, the largest I have encountered in a park thus far. I tried it out and found I got traveling pretty quick. A fun treat tucked in the wooded area of the park. Parking was abundant and the driving entrance easy to find. Signs with the park name were located both at the driving entrance and on a fence on the opposite side of the park. In addition to the aforementioned features, there was a large playground, grass baseball field, and a basketball hoop area with a fence and smooth ground.
