It's one of my favorite parks in the Greater Seattle Area. One loop is about 5 km, making it great for both runners and walkers. There's also a bike route along the outer loop. The park is beautiful in every season and enjoyable in any weather.

Our stunning public parks are one reason I love this city so much - beautiful in every season. It's a place where people can gather for outdoor activities any time of the year. A well-groomed walking and biking path spans the perimeter of the lake, along with shops, businesses, eateries, community centers, beautiful homes, and sports courts (tennis, pickleball, etc.). Green Lake is an amazing place to spend a few hours - whether it be grabbing a bite, working at a coffee shop, or taking a brisk walk with a fluffy friend.

Plenty of fun for every kid. Play structure, slides, swings and sand box. Located right by green lake, you can walk the lake as well. Plenty of trees for shade and grass for picnics. Great park with something for everyone!

Green Lake may have been my favorite place to visit in Seattle... The lake is lovely spot to swim and paddleboard right now in the summer while it's warm. There are no motor boats allowed, so it's much more peaceful than Union Lake. You can spot duckies. This is also a great spot for a picnic. No matter where you set up, you're in for a great view. There is a paved big loop trail around the perimeter with lots of people walking, running, biking, and rollerblading. There are plenty of benches with scenic views and I saw a few people with hammocks set up in between trees. There is a designated swim area with a lifeguard and plank, but you can swim anywhere in the lake. There are two or three docks as well. There's a coffee shop and boat rental shop along the trail too. I wouldn't recommend using the bathrooms here... they're not very nice.

Such a blast paddleboarding and kayaking at Green Lake Park. There's also a circular trail for running, biking, walking, and roller skating. The vibes are great year-round, but cherry blossom season is my favorite. Plenty of spots nearby to grab a quick bite, too. Walking our dogs here is one of my favorite pastimes! It feels like a smaller version of Central Park in the PNW!

Stack rackets to get in line

They have really well-organized pickleball here. They stack rackets (to get in line) by level so you can play beginner, intermediate, or advanced. Beginner is for people who've never played so if you've played before the recommendation is to do intermediate. We came up via bus on a Thursday evening around 8pm and though there's a lot of courts, there was also a lot of people. But the line moves steadily so we managed to get a few games in. On Google Maps there looks to be bathroom nearby but I didn't go to it so don't know the state of that.

Greenlake is a wonderful spot to go on a walk. You can do water activities like paddle board or kayak or simply take a stroll. It's paved so it's accessible and there are various parking spaces around the lake.

Living so close to here it was about time that I reviewed this park. When looking up information about Green Lake I found that it was formed by the Vashon Glacial Ice Sheet thousands of years ago which was fascinating. There are a couple of lots for parking as well as parking around the lake and the neighborhood. It can definitely get super busy especially during the summer. Activities at the park include tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, kayaking, and fishing. There are also a lot of grassy areas for picnics. There are toilets and porta potties throughout the park which aren't great but they're better than nothing. The distance around the lake itself is 2.8 miles with no elevation which makes it perfect for a jog or even just a stroll. It's a great park during the day for all types of activities and it's nice for sunsets as well.

Went for a nice walk around Green Lake Park on a very sunny day. What a pleasant park it is. Very spaced out and well accommodated. If you want activities while in the park there all here - swimming, paddle boat rental, picnicking, open fields, tennis courts, volleyball and more I'm probably missing things to do. Of course, you can simply enjoy the nice walk around the around the path which I'm told is about 4 miles. I'm not sure if that's a fully accurate length but it is a decent walk/run, especially if you go around, it a few times What is also nice about this park is the number of bathrooms provided. I completed the loop around the park and counted about 4, open and ready bathrooms along with water fountains. Benches are available but not quite as plentiful. Green Lake Park is a nice sized park and seems to be cared for and favored. I can see why someone want to live in the area. It is a great place to come after a meal like I did, it's a nice park with quite a bit to offer.

My favorite park in Seattle! I love the location, beauty, and active community of Green Lake. I even proposed to my now wife on the dock at Green Lake, we love it here.

5 stars for Green Lake Park, one of the nicest parks I've been to!!! I was looking for a nice place to get a run in while in Seattle and this place always came up, rather on line or from friends. Driving around the lake, they had 3 decent sized parking lots to choose from. They also had very clean restrooms here, I think I counted 3 of those also. I wasn't sure how far it was around the lake, I think my Garmin clocked in around 2.8 miles, I would have went around twice if I had more time, but I just added on extra to get to 4 miles. The paved path around the lake was plenty wide enough for everyone, lots of benches sprinkled throughout also. It was windy when I was there, and there were still plenty of active people out doing their thing. Seems like a very popular park in a very nice area of Seattle!!

Ask the Community - Green Lake Park

Are there any Bocce courts in any of your public parks? If so, are reservations needed?

Woodland Park has a club. You can become a member and play when you want or they have open days to the public at a set time.

Are there any areas of Greenlake that are clothing optional by custom? I know there are a couple of other Seattle parks for which that is true. Thanks.

No, there are no designated nude beaches at Green Lake or any other public park in Seattle.

What kind of fish in green lake?

The viewpoint is thoughtfully designed so many people can line up against the railings without too much trouble instead of photographers trying to jockey for space. If you didn't bring binoculars, there's a few coin operated telescopes to help you look at things in the distance. There's also a cool statue here if you're interested, and if you go down the steps there's a small playground. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone use the playground though, since there are no bathrooms associated with the park and small kids can have bathroom emergencies. There are businesses nearby where I guess you could technically ask to use the washrooms, but it's just another hassle. Note: street parking only.

From an urban park perspective, the only other experience that comes close for me is when I moved to the Old Town Manchester neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia, and had Belle Isle in my backyard, which offers access to hiking, large flat rocks for sunbathing, and whitewater rafting on Class II, III, and IV rapids on the James River right in the middle of downtown. Okay, back to Discovery Park. I spent an entire day exploring the park. I started by ordering a carryout lunch at Damoori Kitchen, which is now closed according to Yelp. I then walked to Discovery Park and hiked the 4.4-mile Discovery Park and Lighthouse Loop. A map for that trail can be accessed using a trail app. The loop trail took me through several ecosystems such as coastal meadows, tidal beaches, forest groves, sand dunes, and vast stretches of thickets with wild berries. Once I finished hiking the loop, I walked back to Damoori Kitchen and caught a rideshare back to downtown Seattle. Highlights from my Discovery Park adventure included eating lunch at the tidal beach, exploring sea cliffs, seeing jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, hiking past the West Point Lighthouse, and experiencing the sights, sounds, flora, and fauna of the park's majestic landscape.
