With the foggy weather and trees with moss, the park gave an exotic feeling. I loved that I felt like I was in the wild out of the city. The road around the outskirts of the park isn't the best for running, as the road has rocks and encounters traffic lights. I recommend running inside the park instead. This is a beautiful, shady park. Good for a walk on a hot day. The creek running through it adds wonderful, calming sounds and a place for people and dogs to cool their feet. I hope someonevis planning to decrease the spread of invasive plants here soon. read more

I never realized that the Ravenna Park bridge that I would frequently drive over was right above Ravenna Park and the ravine. Ravenna Park is connected to Cowen Park and is located near Green Lake and University of Washington. It's bigger than Cowen Park but they are connected by a trail that spans the length of the park, popular by joggers and bikers alike. Multiple small paths are broken off from the main trail that are covered making it very hidden and peaceful. However, because of that I wouldn't come here when it's completely dark. On the southeastern part of the park there are more parking lots with a kids playground and tennis courts. It's a peaceful park if you want to get away from the noise and venture into its nearly 50 acres of nature. read more

Ravenna Park is a big park. The ravines are deep and there are a number of different trails you can explore as well as a service road you can walk along. The trails are well labeled and maintained. It is good to remember where you entered the park as some sign posts are marked with arrows for certain streets. This makes it easy when trying to find your way out of the park/back to your car. Parking was street parking, we parked on NE 61st Street across the road from a trail entrance to the park. I could see parking getting hard to find when classes are in session as the park is not too far from the University of Washington, however that was not the case for us today. I visited the park today, the 3rd of June 2020, with my mom for an outdoors adventure. We were impressed with the foot bridges forming part of the trail system as well as the water flow through the ravines. Some of the trails bordered steep drop-offs which is useful to know for those who are afraid of heights and don't want to get too close to the edge. There were a number of runners, walkers, and people with their dog when we visited in the late morning. Fun outdoors park to explore in close to the University of Washington in the Seattle area. read more

Love it most on autumn. There's fog in the morning. You will get some beautiful pics. Such a magical park. There are trails under a bridge and through a forest in the middle of the city :) You can always start on the park's lawn part and go through the trail down to the center of the park. Such a lovely walk even when raining. There are plenty of races you can join too :) what I would change is the fact that some people leave bikes in the middle of the trail. Not cool because who would rent a city bike in the middle of a park if it is not carpeted? read more

I love this park -- definitely one of my faves in Seattle!! This park is right in the neighborhood of Ravenna and it has a little bit something for everyone - joggers, tennis court, children playground, BBQ place, etc. I often come here for some fun times with friends on the playground throwing freesebee, jogging and BBQ parties. It is connected to the Cowen Park so you can get a good jog from Ravenna park to Cowen park. It is definitely a good setting for family fun times! I would recommend you jog with friends or be aware of your surroundings because a close friend's friend who was jogging alone from Cowen to Ravenna got punched by a guy who stole her iPod. Great place for a hike with your dog! Olive and I went here on a Saturday morning and met up with other people friends and their dogs. We had a great walk, the trails are very nice with little brooks and streams running through them. It's easy to forget that we're in the middle of a large city. This was so beautiful in February, I can't imagine how nice it will be when spring has sprung - I can't wait! read more

I love this park! Well, mostly the part where it's trails and ravines. The playground and field are good for some, but not generally where I prefer to be. I live over on the Ravenna/Wedgwood border and LOVE walking over to the park from NE 65th st and feeling like I've stepped out of the city. The main reason I've enjoyed the grassy fields is because they are a good spot to throw a Frisbee with some friends (oh the easily amused...) but I'm sure they're also good for random picnics/reading/kids/dog walking/etc. I've volunteered with EarthCorps in this park and done some slope restoration, which helped me feel more connected to the park. I recommend checking out their website and signing up for an event... if you don't mind getting a little dirty! read more

This is my favorite Seattle park. It's the perfect place to take an active dog that wants to climb on things, play in the mud and splash around in the water. The trails are awesome and if one route feels a little crowded, you can always veer off in a different direction. The other dog owners we encountered were super polite and kept their dogs in check (which is not common around here) and it was super appreciated by this dog Mom with a fearful pup. The trees are beautiful and you can easily forget that you're in the middle of a busy city. Highly recommend if you want to take your dog on an adventure but don't like the hectic vibe of a dog park. read more

Start at Ravenna Park and make your way to Cowen Park or vice versa. Once you're in the woods, you forget that you're in the city. There's an awesome play structure, but not toddler friendly - it does state that the play structure is for kids 5 to 12. BUT there is plenty of green space for the little ones to run around. There is a small wading pool; however, the wading pool is closed due to budget cuts - come on people, increase funding for our maintenance & operation of our Seattle Parks! The Scoop When I run (hopefully more than once a week!) my route goes straight through Ravenna park. You can expect a very serene setting, given its location in Seattle. It's sort of a hidden treat, both because its a ravine and the access roads don't show it off to passer byes. I think most people that drive over the bridge on 15th, wouldn't think there are great trails winding below. Anyway, this would be a wonderful place to bring your children, a lot of sweet places to explore. Almost every time I run through I see friendly Seattlelites walking their dogs, jogging, etc. Certainly a great place to check out if you want to get out of your Green Lake rut. read more

Small forested park in the city! There are several trails, grassy areas, picnic tables, and some bridges. Great for walking the dog. Grab your coffee someplace (Third Place?) and continue into the park and be reminded why you live in the PNW. Just don't go at night. But that's just common sense, right? read more

I spent the day with friends playing a few games of kickball. Some random people came and watched the hilarious hijinks. Others joined. We loved this park. It feels somewhat secluded despite being next door to Seattle residential neighborhoods. It was our favorite out of the 5-6 city parks we walked through - more charming, private, and woodsy (with lots of trails) than the others. All the way from the kickball/softball field in the Southeast, to the zip-line and big swings in the Northwest, I very much appreciate all that Ravenna Park and Cowen Park have to offer. Along with the great kid- and family-friendly facilities, my favorite pastime is to walk in the cool shade of the ravine with my dog. There are many different trails to choose from, and each has its own advantages. Although I really like the little "waterfall" and two wooden pedestrian bridges, no visit of mine is complete without taking in the view from the big 20th Avenue bridge, which I think is a hidden gem amongst Seattle's park system. read more

This review is verbatim to the review for Cowen park. I learned about this park talking with someone who enjoys walking their dog like I do!! :-) You can park at either Cowen or Ravenna park. You can walk from one park to the other park. This park is a real treat! There is a service road with garbage cans along the way. There are narrow trails along either side of the service road. My dog and I spotted many squirrels and birds! It was also relaxing since you can hear the water tricking from several different waterfalls! According to the park website, all the trails equals to about 4 1/2 miles. The service roads feels like its about a mile from one park to the other. If you live in the city and need some time with nature but can't leave Seattle- this may be the closest you can get! read more

I am surprised by the space of thi sone.. one moment in the UW district people buzzing around and then an idyllic pass by a park larger than you would imagine. It's good. It's healthy. When I went to UW I lived right across the street from this park. I'd run through it on my way to Greenlake at least twice a week during the summer months. This park has great walking paths through lush forests and significantly less bums than Seattle's other parks. If you're into sports (e.g. baseball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, tag football, ect...), this park has decent fields that are usually opened. Also, be sure to check out the views from the 15th and 20th avenue bridges...unless you're scared of heights... ;) read more

A bit strange to step into what appears as a tropical rain forest in the middle of the U-District. If you came here late enough and in a certain frame of mind it appears as an alien landscape. But of course you shouldn't come here too late...who knows what kind of questionable characters lurk about the paths and cross cuts. read more

Through the years I've watched the changes coincide with those of my daughters. It really is a part of me. I've been in Arizona for 2+ years now, but am coming up for a visit next week. I came here with the boy today on a whim and it was an absolutely LOVELY experience. We spent our time on the playground (tamest. date. EVER) and I swear, this place is the ticket back to youth for anybody. The jungle gym has a gigantic rope bridge that just begs to be traversed and a swingy rope-hammock (my personal favourite). There are three different types of swings: normal, toddler, and fancy! The "fancy" swings are plastic blue backed seats which are pretty much AMAZING (except they get ridiculously hot and will burn the bottoms of your legs on a hot summer's afternoon). There are also crooked spinning cup contraptions that seem to exist for the sole purpose of making you 360-degree-projectile-vomit. So much fun! I love this park. :D read more

It's a green oasis in the city and when you're deep in the trails it's easy to forget you're in a city. I used to mountain bike the trail from bottom to top of the park - if you do, don't look down into the ravine if you're a scaredy-cat like me. Very peaceful, and enough lawn to lounge. Love the ravine trails that runs from Cowen to Ravenna. I'm bummed that they fenced off a bunch of the park area near the baseball field but I understand the reasoning, and the little foot bridges are great. The baseball diamond is oddly placed - I assume it's only for Little League as any home run would end up with a baseball lost in the brush or stream. It looks like they are currently revamping the kid's play area; right now you can still get into th area but several of the paths leading to it are fenced off. read more

I love this little hidden little jewel in Seattle. There are trails a plenty and little feilds to romp and play. Threre is one bathroom although not always clean at least there in one in the park. Even though it is close to the roads the sounds seem to wash away whe you are walking amoung streams and trees. There is even a rope swing someone has made under the bride!! read more

Revenna is a great little park in the middle of the city. Birding is so-so here so don't bank on it for a big-day or anything. I imagine if it got more coverage some rarities might appear from time to time. So if you are in the area glass the area. read more
