Wallingford Playfield is the main park in the namesake neighborhood where mostly families take their children for some play time. There are also some areas for Basketball & Tennis. Wallingford Playfield is mostly a wide-open field where students from the nearby high school are often practicing field games, usually Frisbee and Soccer. When these activities aren't taking place, it's often a unofficial off leash park for dogs of the neighborhood to run and play through the park. There is a playground that looks fairly new and well-kept that children are often on. On the back side of the park are some tables where folks can sit and maybe have a picnic. Presently there is a petition posted around the neighborhood to save the park as it's at risk of being redone as an official field for the schools. The biggest issue is that the field will be changed to artificial turf. There is a website that goes into all the details and hopes to preserve the park. Personally, I think the Park is fine as is but have not strong opinion on the matter. As it stands Wallingford Playfield is a nice park that I enjoy walking through occasionally. read more

What a lovely neighborhood wading pool. What I lived from here is that everybody knows each other from preeschol or Kindergarten making it super fun for little ones when they find each other at the park. Big parties enjoy the swing at the playground. It also has a great drum station. Very attractive for toddlers. Kids will also hang out by the climbing net. A lot of movement for sure. Lots of kids. Some of them were in summer camps with their guides :) Restrooms just steps aside the pool. Loved that there is a "deeper" part so todds can swim. Everyone is friendly. Benches around to sit and watch. But it can be tricky to find shade sometimes. Just 2 sits :S It also has a kind of beach for babies. There is plenty of room to run down the park. Green grass makes it nice :) Street next to the park can be closed for neighbors only. Parking was no problem though. read more

What a lovely, newly renovated park and playground. The playground is wonderful, offering structures for littles and biggers, and includes a musical area with drums and bells! A large field, with slopes to roll or run down and climb back up. Trees offer shade along some of the perimeter, and paths are available to circumambulate the park. This park has my favorite tennis courts around in the area. The reason I say this is because the tennis courts are separate and private. This keeps me at ease since I don't have to worry about hitting balls into other's courts. The courts are also in decent conditions and I don't notice any rips in the nets or anything. The outside fences are slipping a little bit, but nothing note worthy that would affect game play. One downside is there are only 2 courts and people usually are waiting for courts during peak hours. read more

This is such a fantastic, beautifully maintained, and serene park. As a mom of a very active toddler, I am always on the look out for new playgrounds. I live in the Greenwood area now, so this is just a bit of a drive for me but totally worth it. My toddler LOVED it here. They have not only a bigger kid playground area but also one dedicated to the little ones. His favorite thing to do was play with the excavator in the dirty rain water. Make sure you put your little ones in rain boots! I noticed a sign that no dogs are allowed here, although I did see a couple people taking their dogs on walks through here, which honestly didn't bother me at all. I'm so glad to live in a city that is so rich in parks, especially ones that are fun for the little people in our lives as well. read more

This is one of my favorite parks simply because of it's location proximity to Trophy Cupcakes! It's easy to grab a delicious creation and walk over to enjoy the scenery. This is one of the funnest parks for kids too. Not only do they get to indulge in cupcake goodness, but there is great equipment in this park. They have a tire swing, regular swings, a huge variety of slides, toddler play area, little merry-go-round (not the horse kind) and even a wadding pool! I would have never knew this park existed until I attended a Meet Up here. I don't have children to visit the playground area, but it's far enough from the picnic table areas that they aren't a bother if you're just trying to enjoy some sun at your local neighborhood park. Glad to see that our hardworking tax money is going toward something reasonable in our community. Parking was easy, plenty of neighborhood street parking. There's a tennis court that you can reserve. Like many of others mentioned on here, there is no shade at all here so make sure you bring sunglasses and wear sun lotion. Other than that, lovely low key spot. The last time I walked past this park, the medics were coming to collect someone who, I was told, fell down and thrashed her ankle. Sux. I ended up having a rather long chat with one of the old women who was observing from her stoop. She told me about how this used to be a quiet neighborhood, but now the teenz from the high school are out in the park all night doing illicit high school activitiez. The Wallingford area seems to be in a bit of a time of change. Super nice updated houses next to dilapidated crappy rentals. The schools developing their property. The parks have some weirdos in it, but nothing apparently dangerous. In the day there are kiddies on the playgrounds, people laying around on the grass, and working class dudes getting blown in their trucks. Wait. What was that last thing? I have no idea why I needed to see that, but apparently this is a bit of a gaystyle rendezvous location. Just things to be aware of. It's still a nice park. ... I've walked past this park many times now in the middle of the night when I go for some of my walks, and usually it's just teenage kids talking at the picnic tables or a bum sleeping in the weeds. Haven't seen any problems here or signs of such. read more

This is one of our favorite parks to go to. It has a large playground area complete with a digger, a merry go round, a couple swings and a wading pool area. We have never been here when the wading pol was filled so I can't speak to that. my kids have loved playing on the equipment and one of my favorite parts is that it is gated in. That is nice because the kids can run around all over the park. The bathrooms are pretty clean too. We will definitely be coming back again and again. read more

This is a great park to bring the kids to with lots of fun things to do. My kids seemed to enjoy running up the hill and pretend they were hiking. Hmmmm...with all the toys they spend their time running rocky hills. The park equipment is nice with minimal graffiti, considering it is right next door to a middle school. My only complaint was all the middle school kids hanging out on the playground in the way of the little kids but I must say they were on very good behavior. read more

This is a great local Wallingford park. I frequently take walks here just to sit and relax for a bit. There are frequently people running around the perimeter, playing tennis, throwing frisbee or playing with their dogs. Also, you often will see kids playing pick up games or school-sponsored games of flag football or soccer. There is a large playground and bathrooms on site. I recommend stopping at Fuel, grabbing yourself some coffee, and going for a nice walk through Wallingford Park! read more

I worked in Wallingford for the better portion of the past four years as a nanny, and took my twinsies to the Wallingford playground. Even more frequently when they renovated the play equipment and made it more enticing. My twins call the big play structure their "ferry boat" and don't even have to take turns driving because there are Two (yes! TWO!) steering wheels. Three slides and all sorts of contraptions meant for little hands and feet to traverse. A few things that concerned me were the heights... No challenge for kids about 6+, but when you're chasing two three-year-olds in separate directions, the gaps in the safety fence at the top of the structures causes even the most even nanny to flip a little. The recurring graffiti was also of some concern when it turned from harmless stick-figures to foul language and graphic illustration. It's hard to explain that one to a couple toddlers when you're trying to impose the "no coloring on the walls PLEASE!!" rule. All in all Totally fun park, low sketch factor, it's off the main 45th st. drag enough that the vagrants and ne'er do wells are not wandering through. They mounted some flags in the cross walks nearby that are totally fun for the kids to use for learning some street-side safety. I love this park! read more

Great playground but there's no shade or sand (sandals are also not recommended because of the wood chips.) We came on a Monday mid morning and there were tons of kids from preschools so it's a good place to be to scope out schools and talk to parents. I will definitely go back when the wading pool opens in summer! read more

I think we were playing here until the restaurant opened in this neighborhood. It was a Trinidadian restaurant. The play area was okay and not off a main road. I enjoyed it but wished it wasn't so cold for January/February. read more

This park is great. I love the varying terrain. It's great for kids to climb around on and under and was a super creative way to utilize the space under the playground equipment that usually gets trashy and even sometimes vandalized. The big swing is great too. My only complaint is that there is literally NO shade. Image walked here the other day when it was around 90 degrees out and the kids were so hot they wanted to leave after an hour. Also, for those adults who want to sit and watch kids play, you kinda just have to sit outside and bake because there are no shady options hear by. Overall it's a great place, but I think I'll save it for slightly cloudier days. read more

Wallingford Park is by far one of the best in this city, mainly if you have children in tow. Luckily I had two perfect for the snatching yesterday, and away we went! This is definitely the most child-friendly and focused park that I have found, and the two year old I care for agrees. The main, enormous play area has more to do than most of the children can imagine, and crosses into many different age ranges as well. More than enough to expend their energy on if you're hoping for a long nap in the near future: multiple slides, a variety of walls, equipment, and stairs to climb up or through, a large wading pool for the summer months, an enormous play field that is always well maintained & green, a swing set with two baby/toddler swings, a merry-go-round, and large boulders or picnic tables to have a snack upon. There is even a decent sized toddler area that is more 'little person' appropriate & safe, and is surrounded by sand as an added safety measure. Sand toys and digger always on site! Even the walkways surrounding both playground areas are made of a rubber-like foam that cushions your every step-- they seriously thought of everything when constructing this park with the children's safety a top priority. I couldn't bear to knock it down a whole star for this one reason, but maybe half if I could. The bathrooms are bare bones and pretty atrocious for a public facility-- (this is the Women's, FYI) only one stall out of two had a door, one missing toilet paper, and the sink for washing your hands had no soap dispenser or paper towels. Lucky for me, I tend to carry hand sanitizer with me, but I know most others aren't so prepared. So if you must 'go' you can always hit up the parents/caregivers at the park for some sanitizer-- they always carry it on them! Other than the restroom ooginess, this park is truly a gem. Thankfully the rainy season seems to have passed and Wallingford Park can again be a weekly stop for us diaper changers! read more

This park is a convenient respite with pullup monkeybars and a nice field area. Dogs are not allowed but people bring them anyway.

A really nice play ground with a fun little wading pool. The park area is huge so you can bring a blanket and picnic stuff and relax. There is an area to unleash your dogs if you want to play with them and give them some extra room to stretch those legs. The park is conveniently located in Wallingford, close to a lot of little shops and restaurants. read more

Top park. One of the best in Seattle. My daughter cries her eyes out when we leave so she must love it. If she could talk I would ask her why but her reaction when we arrive and when we leave is enough to tell me how good it is. read more
