We love this park, it has great views of the water and downtown Seattle skyline. A lot of area for kids to run around, or to have a picnic.

Very small park but it was nice and had a pretty view of the water. We seen lots of people out enjoying it, on the day we was here. It would be better if we would've went on a warmer day. I'd love to be able to go back and have a picnic on a warm day.

Fun Fact: The Magnolia neighborhood and park were misnamed by a Navy geographer who wrongly identified the area's madrona trees as magnolias. The city bought the park in 1910. "Madrona" Park is a fantastic place to do a couple of my favorite things: 1) Play tennis. 2) Take a nice walk after playing tennis. If there were a no vacancy sign hanging from the fence, it would hardly be on as I have almost never had to wait more than a few minutes for an open court. Definitely a welcomed change when compared to the other courts at West Magnolia Playfield - where you can barely swing your racket without hitting a newbie attempting a volley. The courts here are fantastic, the view is fantastic, and absence of tourist herds is especially fantastic.

When people think of Magnolia parks, usually they're thinking of Discovery Park. But the self-titled Magnolia Park is a pretty nice option also. While not as large as Discovery Park and without the benefit of a lighthouse, Magnolia Park boasts gorgeous views of the Sound, an abundance of picnic tables, swings and some tennis courts. There's a small path along the park that takes you to the cliff views out across the Sound. There's also a number of smaller Magnolia viewing stations that are situated nearby on Magnolia Blvd. If you feel that Kerry Park is too played out ("Pfftt. Kerry Park is so last year"), these areas have equivalently spectacular views of Seattle and Mt. Rainier. As a side note, I disapprove of calling these areas "viewpoints" or "viewing stations." These terms sound like the place you would monotonously drive to, take a requisite picture and sullenly drive away. The views are too beautiful for a term such as this. So I would like to propose changing the name to the "Magnolia Park Panorgasm." I think that's much more suitable.

A view of the park beyond a very comfy bench

I love Magnolia Park! I walk through it almost every day. There's something uniquely honest about Magnolia Park. I can't say what it is. The view, the size, the benches. You just feel calm and like you've arrived at a destination that makes you happy. I've had some wonderful, serene moments at the park. Standing at the cliff, looking out at the view, or sitting on a park bench and just focusing. I love this little park.

Nice little get away in my neighborhood. I brought my roommates dog here this past weekend and he enjoyed it as did I. Very beautiful view of the sound that's also peaceful. It's not the biggest park in the world but that to me is a good thing. Most of the people here were doing exactly what I was doing which was giving their dog a nice place to stretch their legs. I'll definitely be bringing the little pupper here more often.

    Beautiful view from the park!

I enjoyed a nice walk through Magnolia Park yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the stunning views of the sound! This is a quiet park, which makes it a great place to relax and/or enjoy a nice walk. The homes in the area are also quite beautiful, and I found myself enjoying looking at the houses almost as much as looking at the sun setting. This is a great park!

Great park to just sit and relax and enjoy the sunshine or any type of weather. Never a lot of people there when I went.

It also has a great view of the sound, and it's really beautiful on a clear day, especially with the ferries and boats going in and out.

A Seattle Gem with Breathtaking Views!…read more Discovery Park is hands down one of the most beautiful spots in Seattle. My husband grew up in Magnolia, so he took me here for a hike last weekend, and I was completely blown away. We explored the south side and walked the Loop Trail. The path is well-maintained and offers stunning panoramic views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It's hard to believe you're still within the city limits! It's the largest park in the city, so there is plenty of space to enjoy nature. Whether you want a serious hike or just a peaceful stroll to see the water, this is the place to go. Don't forget your camera--the scenery is post-card perfect!

From an urban park perspective, the only other experience that comes close for me is when I moved to the Old Town Manchester neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia, and had Belle Isle in my backyard, which offers access to hiking, large flat rocks for sunbathing, and whitewater rafting on Class II, III, and IV rapids on the James River right in the middle of downtown. Okay, back to Discovery Park. I spent an entire day exploring the park. I started by ordering a carryout lunch at Damoori Kitchen, which is now closed according to Yelp. I then walked to Discovery Park and hiked the 4.4-mile Discovery Park and Lighthouse Loop. A map for that trail can be accessed using a trail app. The loop trail took me through several ecosystems such as coastal meadows, tidal beaches, forest groves, sand dunes, and vast stretches of thickets with wild berries. Once I finished hiking the loop, I walked back to Damoori Kitchen and caught a rideshare back to downtown Seattle. Highlights from my Discovery Park adventure included eating lunch at the tidal beach, exploring sea cliffs, seeing jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, hiking past the West Point Lighthouse, and experiencing the sights, sounds, flora, and fauna of the park's majestic landscape.

It keeps people away from the tunnel traffic along that road. It's still a work in progress with many developments planned in the future. There's still a lot of construction near Belltown as of June 2025. We stayed in a hotel near the park. It's super close to Pier 66. The park currently connects Pioneer Square with Pier 62, and has great views of Elliott Bay. We took the elevator up to the Overlook Walk so that we could gain access to Pike Place Market. There are also stairs that take you there from each side of the walkway. I don't remember it being this easy back in 2011. Heck, I don't even remember seeing the ferris wheel at Pier 57. When did that happen? It's a large and beautiful greenspace that's perfect for locals & tourists alike. We kind of lost our bearings for a bit, but then it became all clear that we were headed the right way to the market. I really like what they have done here. It will be cool to see it again once it's all done, and there's no more construction. It was a nice walk along the bay.
