Our experience was a good one. It was a bright and sunny day with minimal wind. We saw over 6 sets of homeless people and they didn't bother us one bit. Our hotel overlooked the park and we saw people in it with their dogs all the time, even when it was raining.

I felt all warm hearted knowing someone could walk in here and practice safe sex in a toilet. I'm not sure whom I would have Carnal Knowledge in this restroom but it's appears many do. Well, as I gagged at the aromatic smells I did take the time to get a photo prior to my escape. An no I don't not make a purchase. Back to the fields, both are newer turf but it's kinda beat up. But at least it's not dirt fields. Lights aluminate the field for night games so no worry's about playing at night. Well, if your cruising in the valley and need to glove up now you have a late night location to purchase some live gloves for your date.

On a weekend in the fall, it only seemed to be used for locals to ride their dirt bikes on and was otherwise generally empty. My main "eh" was that it doesn't seem to be a safe area as Rainier Ave seemed fairly dicey and while they do have a playset, it's the most remarkable thing about the space. If you're in the area, Seward Park is a much better bet, and overall I'd skip this park unless you're here for soccer with a group.

When I think of Colman Park, I think of the underpasses…read more I'm a Californian, we don't really do fun underpasses like Seattle does, especially not ones like these which look to be mostly from the 1900s. The honey and I decided on one of our walks to start at the Colman P-Patch Community Gardens (which is easily one of the most gorgeous sounding parks we've been to) and walk down under the these smaller tunnels to Colman Beach. The tunnels at first glance look barely big enough for someone to pass under, and someone larger than 6 feet might struggle, but it's so much fun to walk through the woods from the P-Patch and see that these adorable tunnels lead to a beach. Colman Park is very woodsy, but there are so many paths and levels to it that you could probably explore for an hour and not see everything. All in all beyond Streissguth Gardens, the Colman P-Patch and adjoining Colman Park and Colman Beach would be the absolute must see for free Seattle green spaces in my opinion, and if you're in the area, you should definitely drop by.

There's a basketball court and a skate park. There's a splash pad, picnic tables, restrooms and kids playground. With COVID I have seen a lot of people wear mask as they do the above activities. Not everyone complies and the skate park and basketball court is frequently crowded. However, going for a walk on the walking path or a bike ride, most people are following suggested social distancing guidelines. Judkins feels like a neighborhood park. The kind of park where you see familiar faces and as a member of the neighborhood, I definitely can attest to that.

You can enter the park in a couple different ways; I enter on the Mountain View Ln entrance. It's very short, but it's nice and steep--enough to burn off your dog's energy without committing to a giant walkaround. It's also great to run it and break in your new trail runners. Maintaining its greenspaciness, there are not lights on the trails to distract you which lets you take in the smell of green and feel the lushness. It's a nice calming pause if you're walking around the neighborhood.

This space is a connection to culture and heritage. If someone from the Philippines is feeling homesick, they should be able to come to this space as a place of comfort. Unfortunately, it's a park that has been left unchecked for the past 10 years. The time capsule and metal plaques were stolen. I know the elders and descendants are frustrated with these disgraceful and disrespectful acts. I hope this park will be restored to a welcoming, clean, and safe environment again. I know the Filipino and Beacon Hill communities would want this. I know visitors from out of town would want this too. I took a direct flight from Sea-Tac Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport recently. Visiting Rizal Park in Manila was on my itinerary. Thousands of people were at the park. I had never experienced anything like it. The monument was guarded and barricaded. The open space was beautifully landscaped. If I can fly to Manila and feel good about visiting Rizal Park, I should feel good about visiting this park in my hometown too. This park has history with the Filipino community and I'm confident that with sincere investments and thoughtful attention it will flourish again.

You would never know it, but this spot used to be the site of the Hitt Brothers Fireworks Factory (founded in 1905). They provided the fireworks for the Seattle World's Fair in 1962 as well as the pyrotechnics for movies like Gone With the Wind. It's the local residents who really maintain this cute park. Hitt's Hill is not exactly worth going out of your way to go to, but if you're already in the area, are interested in Seattle's history, and enjoy wild blackberries, you should definitely check it out.
