Jefferson Park came highly recommended by several coworkers, since we're up pretty early on Saturday's we took advantage of the nice cool morning. I wasn't expecting this park to offer as much as it did skate boarding, wading pools, tennis courts, driving range, golf course, ample seating options, several playgrounds, outdoor basketball courts, and miles of walking paths paired views of downtown Seattle. Cleanliness & Safety I greatly appreciate how clean the park was, I didn't see any trash, needles, human (sad truth) or animal waste anywhere!! I also appreciate how open the park is, you can sit down and still see your children from afar! I would recommend visitors to stroll around Jefferson Park if they're looking for photo ops at a local park with a wonderful view of the Seattle skyline and Olympic mountains to the west. The minimally shaded park includes a shared walking/biking path, playground, tennis courts, skate park, sculptures and other amenities suitable for all ages. On the weekends or if the weather is cooperating, you will find private parties/gatherings held around the park barbecuing and just having a good time. Public bathrooms are available in the middle of the park as well as the community center. Complimentary parking is available along Beacon Ave or on the south side of the park. Bus route 36 takes you directly to the northeast side of the park. Perfect place to catch up with one another while getting our daily steps in. If you're lucky, you may encounter some attempting paragliders in the park especially if there is a nice breeze. read more

Jefferson Park, the sixth largest park in the city. This is a great family friendly park. I love the kids play area, the large grassy areas, tennis courts, basketball court, and wading pool. There is enough space to lay out and enjoy the weather. Parking is close if not a little limited. Monkey bars are the best because they are super exciting and you do not know when you are going to fall off! Slides are the best too because you go down faster than going down stairs. Ladders are the best because you can do lots of things on them. Like chin/ups, pull-ups and climb. The maze is the best because it is tricky to figure out how to do it. Activities for all ages. Great for walking and biking. Nice view of the city. Big wide open space is what this park is all about. read more

Jefferson Park used to be a reservoir on top of Beacon Hill when I was growing up. The City put a lid on it and extended the park from the Community Center and tennis courts. In the Summer of 2021, they provided music in the park. There are solar powered picnic shelters to reserve. There's a soccer field too. You can social distant from other people since there are plenty of room for walking. Kids can play in the huge playground or use the Skate park. On the West side of the park, there's a pea patch garden. The City also grows plants in the Greenhouses by Mercer Jr High. A Lawn Bowling Club meets during the warm season. Plus there are two Golf Courses and remodeled driving range. So come out and see one of the Gems of Seattle. read more

i'm embarrassed to publish how many decades i've been a seattle resident and not once ever been to jefferson park. i've driven by the north end on south spokane, off the east end of the beloved but now defunct west seattle bridge, i've passed by the driving range and tennis courts on beacon ave south and it wasn't until a colleague suggested we make this our potluck picnic destination in the middle of this crazy heatwave that i ever experienced how great this place is. shame on me. but i'm posting this review so you don't go nearly as long as i before you, too, discover this park's merits. first off: it's triple digit temps today and there's a tiny spray park north of the rec center/driving range! that's worth it right there. adults and kids were equally squealing with delight when the water would randomly pop up out of the holes on the ground, it was hot weather magic, trust me! there are tennis courts, a driving range for golfers, a skate park, a toddler play area, wide open spaces for people to walk or run and a covered picnic shelter on the north end right behind the iconic red sculpture you can see from east and westbound south spokane ave. for those not occupying the picnic area, i saw others seeking shade from small trees planted throughout the grounds and two guys had a bbq set up going on that was beyond impressive. basically, there was plenty of space for everyone! it was clean, not full of trash, well tended and a great place to hang out. i'm kicking myself that i've never before been to this park but i'll be back. it wasn't overpopulated today mostly because it's big enough to accommodate a large amount of people spread out over its entire area. what i liked was that it was clearly used by many and that there was a genuine level of diversity in terms of who had come to enjoy themselves on this record breaking seattle summer day. i don't live walking distance but i will keep this place in mind as a stopover location for future trips out of west seattle that see me using beacon hill as a transit locale or a final destination. go check this place out---it's great! read more

Jefferson Park is an amazingly fun environment for family outings and kids and adults of all ages. After my recent visit, I would recommend adult supervision for young children ( 5 and under) at play. However, if you are an active fun loving parent like me you wouldn't want to miss a day at this park. Every recreation amenity is available there. There is a flat walking trail for running, jogging, and other cardio. The park also includes a few playgrounds, water activities, swings, picnic shelters, zip lines, golf, a skatepark, and tennis. There is an open field for sports and lawn games. There is also ample parking for group gatherings as well. Jefferson Park is clearly the culmination of community support and lots of helping hands coming together to build a great recreational place for kids of the community to come together. I grew up 5 minutes from Jefferson Park. That being said I can totally appreciate the improvement. I would recommend including the community library or light rail trip at the facilities nearby for a full day of activities. read more

One of the best parks in Seattle. So much field space, lots of pokestops for Pokémon go players, and great jungle gym. The walking path is a great loop. It's also one of the prettiest parks. Jefferson Park butts up against their Lawnbowling club and the golf course clubhouse. Basically, this block is where it's at for outdoor entertainment on Beacon Hill. You've probably heard about those zip lines for the kids. Well. You should know that they don't go very fast when you're 140 pounds. And not a kid. But the rest of playground is great for appropriately aged and sized peoples. Right next to it is the water slide and ground sprinklers. Jogging through the park on a hot day, I have taken a little detour into the sprinklers before ^_^ In fact, I'll admit that I like to climb on their mutli-sided cubey-thing with the mountain climbing hand grips. And one of my Yelp pics is me being spun around so fast in the spinny cup, that I almost lost my lunch. Back to jogging, if you follow the outer path, it appears to be about a mile around. The paths are wide enough to accommodate bikes and the occasional unicycler. The grassy areas are also perfect for some frisbee golf--they have just the right amount of trees and other structures to make it fun! In fact, there's two cement landing pads by the skateboard park (yup, they have a skateboard park) where you can skip your frisbee! Tennis courts border the parking lot, there's a shiny clean bathroom building along the running path...I just love my park. Originally designed as one of Seattle's Olmsted parks, this neighborhood gem has gone through many changes over the years but it is emerging as one of Seattle's best parks. Am I being too proud to say that it is probably is Seattle's best park? With stunning views of downtown this newly remodeled park is well designed with usable space for everyone. The construction fences are finally down and the playgrounds, viewpoints and lots and lots of green spaces and walking trails are open, go check it out! Beacon Mountain is now open also with nice zip lines and a great water park for the kids and check out the skate park with one of the largest public bowls in Seattle even Tony Hawk came and skated here. p.s. the official address listed here is a bit misleading, it's probably easiest to enter the park along Beacon Ave near where it intersects Spokane St. There is plenty of parking. read more

Renovated in 2011, this playground offers a large variety of activities for people of all ages. Lovely to see elderly couples walking around...alongside toddlers exploring the taste of wood chips...alongside teens at the skate park...alongside kids going cray when they turn on the water during the summer. There are a lot if Asian people here. But don't worry, these kids watch the same TV programs and YouTube videos your kids have so they all seem to get along famously! You may have to walk a bit after parking, but there is a lot and the parking is free. read more

Gas park of the south!!! Amazing place south of Seattle Downtown. I came here on a sunset date and was not disappointed! You can see sun settling down behind mountain chain across the Puget Sound. You can see all of those amazing sunset lights reflecting from Seattle downtown sky rises. It is dog and family friendly park with lots of activities for both. There are also nice flower/plant patches in the park that might spark some creativity for the artist or the gardener. read more

Nice small park! There is a huge field and a trail around the outer edge. As you walk there are different art installations to see. Life can be rather predictable. The first time I witnessed someone riding a onewheel Halo board? In Seattle. Not home, in yesteryear Albuquerque. Seattle, of course. Now I know that these things exist. Thanks, Seattle. I saw the guy riding by the playground at Jefferson Park, and it looked like a pretty sweet ride. My kid, coincidentally, was having the ride of her life going from the ziplines to the slide apparati to the gyroscoping spinning doodads that honestly were her favorite aspect of this public gem. The play areas have a wide swatch of ages covered; I watched lil' itty bitty ones playing alongside those kids who obviously didn't fit on the equipment anymore and should've been stuck at home pestering their parents. One word about da crows. I left a bag of my kid's snacks on a table and walked away. A few minutes later I looked over and this raven-sized sucker was standing on the table, stabbing the bag with his hooked beak. He stood his ground for a minute when he saw me coming, too. While they're not as frightful or devilish as the grackles of Austin, da crows of Seattle are a force to be reckoned with. I didn't see that coming. read more

Well, this place has really come a long way, baby. The play area is top notch, both for the little kiddos and the bigger ones. The grassy areas, so grassy! Picnic tables and benches galore! There's parking, a tennis court, a water spray area, plenty of paths with running distances marked on them, a skate park, TWO ziplines. Holy WOW, what a fantastic discovery we have made in Jefferson Park. In our quest to find the best Seattle-area park for munchkins, I took the kids here one sunny afternoon, on a tip from a co-worker. This park is a testament to the idea that having more expansive parks within a city improves the quality of life for their residents. There's not much else I can say that would expand on what the previous reviewers have noted. What I can confirm is that you will be wowed when you come around the corner and see the stunning view in the background and the plethora of features that have been installed to keep the little ones busy. There is a lot of green space to run in (or lay that picnic blanket out on), the bathrooms are still fairly clean, and there's plenty of parking. The only thing that seemed lacking was picnic tables. There really aren't many - I can only assume they'll be installing more at a later date? A couple notes: * You can easily spend a couple hours here with even the youngest of kids. Pack some food, sunscreen (unfortunately there aren't many shade trees yet!), and an extra change of clothes in case they get soaked in the water area. * If you have more than one little one you may want to bring a stroller. There's plenty of parking but for the youngest set, they may be too tuckered after romping around here to walk back to the car. * Put tennis shoes on your kids, not sandals! Like many of the area parks they have woodchips in the playground. Totally fine, but those tend to find their way into sandals and poke those little feet like no other. One last thing - the directions from Yelp will get you close but not smack dab at the park. To be more accurate, look for the park and the adjacent parking lot on the southwest corner of Spokane Street and Beacon Ave. South. read more

This park is awesome! I came here this past summer and really enjoyed how nicely designed and clean everything was. We came here to play disc golf but also ended up running around, playing on the big toys and swings and just generally seeing everything this park has to offer. Had I known about this park earlier in the spring/summer I would have spent a lot more time here. There's so much space available here! There were a few different summer camps out doing activities, a few small groups of people out doing their thing and a lot of families or couples out enjoying the sun and a fantastic park. If you want a place to throw a frisbee or football, kick a soccer ball, jog, picnic, play on big toys and swings or just be outside while reading a book or your tablet... this is the spot right here. It's a beautiful park with a pretty nice view. I'm a huge fan! read more

The newly expanded Jefferson Park is truly spectacular. It's a gorgeous piece of land with phenomenal views of downtown Seattle and beautiful landscaping. The expansive park includes a nice community center, a golf course, tennis courts, basketball court, and lawn bowling. The new updates, which were officially launched at a jubilee celebration in early July 2012, include a new skatepark and playfield. The Skatepark is really special. It includes a deep bowl and several smaller bowls as well as an elevated dish and lots of texture. The project was designed with serious thought and intended for long-term use. I wish I could skateboard -- it's a beautiful space that feels cool and safe. The playfield is cutting edge, including: slides, several playareas with modern equpiment, ziplines, swingsets, and lots of mountains/boulders for climbing. They've separated a few areas by age group. The surfaces are primarily synthetic, including a rubberized running track, but the park has tons of natural grass expanses as well. Even includes an area with fun fountains that are ideal for splashing on a hot summer day. The Parks Dept got a special permit to install flood lighting, which feels really natural inside the landscaping decisions and makes the park safer for playing and exploring after dusk. read more

It's all about the Views! Superb views of downtown Seattle from the south, Elliot Bay, the Olympic mountains, First Hill and even a glimpse of Bellevue. Well laid out walking paths here are complete with mile markers and elevation plaques. A few water features and room for expansion (concerts on the green anyone?). "Hey dad, can we launch my rocket today?" "Well, sure, I guess, but we don't have a lot of time, and Magnuson park is a ways away." "What about the park near our house?" "Umm, sure." And that is how I learned the first lesson that I will impart to you here: Jefferson Park is windy. Very windy. Hella windy. Unpredictably, blowing-lots-of-directions-at-random-and-sometimes-at-once, drop-a-handfull-of-grass-and-your-rocket-drifts-off-in-the-opposite-direction-as-it-parachutes windy. "Jefferson park" used to be a small swing and climbing set next to a grassy slope next to a city reservoir. Then they installed a deck over the reservoir (How freaking cool is that? Way to go, Seattle!) and now this park is amazing and expansive. There is a play gym and equipment in different sections for various age ranges, although all bordering one another so you can send kiddos off in different directions and still keep an eye on them all. There are a couple ziplines, a big loop trail, an overlook with a great view of the harbor and downtown, and even some soccer fields that crazies occasionally launch model rockets from. There is also a big hill that runs down to 15th on the West side of the park, a parking lot towards the VA hospital to the South, a couple fenced off areas, a nearby driving range, and various power lines, just in case you bought the biggest engine your model rocket can take and have a desire to run a half mile to fetch your rocket on every launch. The only things missing are more shade trees (can't ding them for that; it's a new park) and water. Yes, water. Hey, Jefferson Park planners - you're on top of a freaking WATER RESERVOIR. Is there no way to have done more in the way of potable water than a couple fountains by the play sets? Maybe some near the bathroom (which, I might add, have running water) adjacent to the soccer fields? Or down by the tennis courts? That aside, the place is about perfect. Kiddo and I have been there a bunch, and we'll keep going back. Next time, we're bringing a damn kite, is all. read more

This was my favorite park in Seattle because there is literally something for everyone here. As many others have said. Playground, tennis courts, skate park, driving range. Picnic tables with pavilions (I'm assuming you need a permit to rent those spaces for private events). TONS of open green space for picnics along with picnic tables. Walking trails and even at the top, there is a nice view of downtown Seattle. I was amazed at how "clean" everything was. The groundskeepers and staff do an excellent job here. read more

We recently spent an entire (hot) Saturday here, and our whole family had a blast. We are frequently at playgrounds and spray parks and I think this one is going to be a new regular for us. All 3 of our children (ages 5, 3, and 11 months) could use and enjoy the spray park, and it wasn't so crowded that the little one got run over, like we have experienced before. The playground is awesome as well it has two zip lines, and a hill they can climb to a huge slide as well as the play area for the little ones and a separate one for bigger kids. It seems like a popular park for birthday parties as there were 5 there the day we were there. There are also tennis courts and driving range, so the whole family can stay busy and entertained. read more

If you're a tennis player and live in the area, this park has awesome courts! They just recently resurfaced them and add 2 more (4 total). The lights also stay on pretty late (10pm I think). There's also a basketball court and I heard they have volleyball some nights inside the center. If you have little ones, the playground is pretty large and has a lot of toys to wear them out for a nap. If you're a golfer, there is a driving range, Par 3 and full course for you to practice your skills on. So whatever you're looking for, this place has it all to get in some exercise. Reopening just in time to catch the last days of summer this year, Jefferson Park playground, in its current updated state was worth the wait! It is so welcoming, play structures are modern, new, and has everything for kids of all ages to do (including their parents!). Super super nice. The grounds surrounding the play area were remade too -- perfectly manicured and landscaped. And the geese are there, providing an extra attraction for parkgoers. I used to frequent the MLK playground that figured as the best playground in Seattle because of the nice structures, but this one is the best playground I've seen by far. Being there today made me want to move to Beacon Hill! Thank you Seattle Parks and Recreation for a job well done! We love, love, love the remodelled Jefferson Park Playground! read more

Great Views of the City, lots of services, and not too many crazies wandering around. This park is often my lunchtime Zen location. I run up the hill from Sodo and enjoy the fresh air and panoramic views of Seattle. Tennis, Basketball, Skate Park, Large fields, and a great playground make this a really top notch family stop too. The only downfall I can see to the park is the limited parking .. but most of the time I jog there. Oh... and occasionally there are a few crazies there. Today a gentleman asked me if I wanted to do some Kung Fu, I politely declined. Some days there is a woman that will shout things at me in a foreign language, in general though they seem harmless. read more

My son, who had an appointment at the VA HOSPITAL on this beautiful sunny 90 degree day suggested i check out this park while i wait for him. Im so glad i did. My grandson LOVED LOVED LOVED THE SPRAY PARK. Its not a huge area and doesnt have a huge variety of water fountain spray faucets, but for my 22 month old grandson it was PERFECT. IM SO GLAD TO HAVE THIS PARK to go to on appointment days...i will even make the drive from home (auburn) just to go hang out on nice days with my family. This park is super fantastic. read more

This is a beautiful large park with many amenities that is freeway close and yet offers a sense of nature. Especially good park if you have grade school age kids as it has a mini zip line, slide, and nice play area. There is also a recreation center on site that is operated by City of Seattle. read more
