We visit quite a bit and we always have to order Hibachio while we're here. The food is always great and the portions are plentiful!

Fried rice was not like any I have ever tasted, in a bad way. Sushi was a little funky. Not impressed.

Bland food. Always takes longer than the given timeframe. Nice change of pace for the area but nothing special

Came here with my husband, just wanting to get out of our routine date nights. We got the hibachi for 2; the price for that amount of food was a Great Deal. I really like the set up, and the simplicity of the selection of food. We will definitely be returning. I didn't do 5 stars only because the parking is so cramped, and this is apparently the high school hang out, but after they left it was a nicer environment. So, it was very good, and definitely fits a Midlothian need. We loved the California and Tempura rolls, and if you go, get the "yum yum" sauce (shrimp sauce). I used it for everything. The teriyaki sauce is not as sweet as I like, but the Teriyaki chicken was still very good. The only recommendation I would give the owner would be to add a tempura entree. The only tempura in sight was the sushi roll we got, and it's not even on the menu. I think it was a chef special. If they had a tempura entree, I would probably eat here twice a week, and it would earn the fifth star. The ambiance is a bit like a Chipotle, where you order at the counter. But they still bring you your meal after you sit down. Long story short, definitely worth going, and the price can't be beat. read more

Definitely enjoyed the different types of sushi they had here. Did take about 45 minutes to prepare. Most of all my younger kids enjoyed it as well. Not sure if that's a good thing since sushi is more expensive than fried rice. read more

Loved it. I was honestly skeptical of decent Asian food in Midlothian, especially some in an old DQ, but I decided to give it a go after seeing positive yelp reviews. I ordered the hibachi vegetables and added some chicken. I think I found something to come back soon for. Really excellent plate of food. The chicken was a little dry, but not terribly so. Pop it into some of the yum yum sauce there and it's gold. The veggies were great and were seasoned well. I really didn't have to add much to it. The one thing they may want to watch is portion size. I know I got tons more than I could eat (for which i am very grateful), but it wasn't just me. Everybody was walking out of there full with to go boxes. Also who knew you could make an old DQ look so good? Anyways I know I'll be back again. Maybe next time I'll grab some sushi. read more

So disappointing. Quality and quantity have declined lately. Chicken Fried Rice takeout: quantity was at least 1/3 less than has been the last 7-8 years we have been eating there. We come as a family once a week and they never disappoint. Great service, great food always aiming to please. I have a 11 & 8 yr old and they insist on the steak teriyaki. The steak is always tender and my girls devour it. I go for my Midlothian Tower and love the freshness and quality when it comes to the table. Rising Sun is consistently good. There is something for everyone. Veggiesaurus, Vegansaurus, Meatasaurus? No problem! They even have gluten free options. Teriyaki isn't overly sweet and Hibachi is savory. They will mix and match any veggies with any entreé upon request. Want Teriyaki Chicken but don't like broccoli? They got you covered with mixed veggies. Like your Dragon(fly) roll sans cuke? They make it like you want it. Craving something fried? The spring rolls are to die for. Decent size sushi for a decent price. Not a lot of good restaurants in Midlothian in my opinion and this is one of the gems you can find here in Midlothian. I've had the seaweed salad and they give a hefty portion than most places that I've been to and I'm not complaining. Went there for the first time last night, and this place far exceeded expectations! It looks like a repurposed Dairy Queen, but the food and service are just spectacular! I ordered the Teryaki Sirloin Steak with veggies and brown rice. My wife ordered the Hibachi Tilapia with veggies, and both of us were very pleased. Portions were perfect, especially when my wife got extra veggies, since she did not order rice. Teryaki sauce was just right, light and flavorful, and not drenched on like syrup. Prices were amazing, including a glass of wine for less than 5 bucks! It's a little out of the way for us, but we will be back! Several years later, after many incredible visits, all of which have been fantastic, we just tried a new menu item, the Jalapeño Poppers! I simply must tell the world how incredible these things are! They must be partially cooked first, either parboiled or something, because though they are not pickled, a lot of the heat is gone, leaving just the fresh jalapeño flavor. Stuffed with a variation on cream cheese, lightly battered in tempura, then deep fried very briefly, they are just perfect! Highly recommended! We finally added that fifth star!!! read more

Wife and I enjoyed dinner at Rising Sun tonight. Their bar is now set-up and fully stocked and they seem to be building something on the back side, perhaps another walk-in refrigeration room? Anyway ... We arrived in the door and was greeted by A.J., who was behind the bar. He asked if we had ever tried Sake. We had tried it previously (elsewhere), but he offered a sample of a few different types and so we acquiesced. We tried three samples, all were good, but one we clearly liked - a Nigiri Sake (unfiltered). We both ordered a glass of wine ($4) to go with dinner, a nice Moscato form Chile as well as iced tea. For appetizers we ordered the Edamame and Sashimi Yellow Fin Tuna. The entrées we ordered were the Hibachi Shrimp, sub fried rice (mine, as usual) and my wife had the (NEW) Hibachi Tilapia with broccoli, instead of the rice. Our Edamame arrived 1st and was obviously cooked fresh and salted just right. Shortly thereafter our YF Tuna arrived, wonderfully presented as a rose on ice with some fresh flower petals. Dang it - I forgot to take a picture. Need to do that because the presentation is spectacular . The YF Tuna tasted perfect, obviously very fresh and sliced well. It was gone quickly as we both devoured it. I asked for a little wasabi and dipped it in soy sauce; my wife had a few pieces with a little fresh ginger. The entrées came and were again well presented. My wife's Tilapia was grilled very nice - she asked for one filet ($9), we understand there is a option for two. One filet with the broccoli was just the right size for her. She loved it. My Hibachi Shrimp was as great as ever - one thing I really like is the small amount of b/w sesame seeds they always sprinkle on the top of the rice for decorative purposes - nice touch. We were almost finished with our wine and entrees when my sister and her husband came in - what a nice surprise. They ordered the Hibachi Shrimp, sub Zucchini instead of Mushrooms and the Hibachi Scallops and a appetizer of the "Peppered" WF Tuna. The appetizer came out 1st and I sampled a bit - wonderful ... slightly seared with pepper crust, then sliced - served with an avocado slice and a sauce that I believe had just a hint of sage in it. Very good, see picture. I also had a scallop from my brother-in-laws' plate and it was cooked perfectly. Scallops can often be rubbery, undercooked, and chewy - these were perfect. Although I don't often eat scallops, just because of the cooking challenges. They both finished their plates as well and we all left about the same time. It was nice to have dinner with them and unexpectedly. We've been continuing to dine at Rising Sun, perhaps every other week since they opened and they continue to impress with their professionalism, creativity, and excellent food. A.J. and others have come to learn our names (and other customers as well) and at times will ensure to give us a personal thanks on our way out. We really enjoy the place. Still hard for us to believe it was the DQ all these years. Great addition to Midlothian and now in business for a little over one year as well. Congrats - we heard their 1st anniversary party was very nice. Today, when we were sampling the Sake, A.J. did say he was thinking of having a Sake tasting event on the patio in a few weeks, when it warms up for more than a few days at a time. HIGHLIGHTS: Greatly improved since opening, which is a good thing. Sashimi tastes fresh, rolls are made well and with proportionate amount of sauces and fried rice dishes are excellent and come loaded with meats and veggies that are also cooked well. The dish is definitely large enough to share if you want to grab some sashimi as well. My first trip to Rising Sun, around the time it opened, was not a pleasant one. I have to admit, I am a sushi-holic so was very excited to see that Midlothian was finally getting a restaurant that served sushi rolls and sashimi. My first experience was tempered by a rude sushi chef (not to me, but to the staff) and way to much spicy mayo sauce on my roll. My wife also wasn't a huge fan of their fried rice, as it didn't taste fresh. We waited a while but my wife and I decided to try it again. We were pleasantly surprised to see that a lot of the things we didn't care for at our first trip had been "fleshed out". I tried the special roll (Can't remember the name, but it was basically a California Roll topped with Salmon and covered in Spicy Mayo) which was pretty good. I also got Sashimi (Salmon and Tuna). Both were very good quality, especially for Midlothian. Look, this place isn't Benihana or even Sake (in Mansfield) but for the price, the Asian dishes and sushi are good. It is worth the trip and return trips. read more

The steak and shrimp were delicious but the rice tasted a bit dry. I've tasted different white rice and seem to notice a big difference in taste and texture. I also ordered sushi which tasted juicy and delicious. read more

I'm a big fan of Hibachi restaurants. The food here isn't bad at all. I usually get the chicken and steak hibachi plate. It's not up the quality of most hibachi restaurants which is expected, but it's a good place to scratch the itch if you're craving it but don't want to pay hibachi prices. read more

I've had the worst experiences at Hibachio in Midlothian. I've had my food free multiple times, (which I'm not a fan of. I love to support my local businesses) I have been back multiple times but every single time they have let me down! My order has been the same every single time. Spending more that $80 every time I go, just to get my order wrong! I emailed the email on the website and have gotten no response from anyone about this location and my issues with it. Though this spot has done me wrong multiple times, yet I still have gone back for the food. But now unfortunately, my family and I haven't been back all year. I wish things would change cause I miss it. I want to bring new friends to this place but I'm afraid the service will be horrid and the order will be wrong. read more

There was 6 steak pieces and 4 shrimp along with the box being flooded with zucchini. For $13 there needs to be a healthy portion of proteins. Never again this was a rip off. read more
