Last night the waitress actually remembered my drink order from 3 weeks ago. That amazed me. My only issue I think is on the special sushi rolls- sometimes they are so big- you struggle to eat it. I prefer the smaller tighter ones. But yes- give this place a shot!! It is a regular place for our group for a reason.

The staff were friendly and always had a smile. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with soy broth, pork belly, scallions, bamboo, diced onions, and an egg. The broth was the star for me. It had this deep, savory flavor with a little sweetness underneath, almost like the soy had been cooked down into something richer. Warm, comforting, and full of umami without tasting too salty. Every sip had that roasted, almost earthy depth that made me want to keep drinking it. The pork belly was ridiculously tender. Soft, juicy, and rich, with just enough fat to make it melt in my mouth. The egg was creamy and silky in the middle, and the bamboo and onions added some crunch and freshness to break everything up. Simple, warm, and really satisfying. This was exactly what I wanted from a bowl of ramen.

Instead, one came sickeningly sweet with an unlisted cinnamon syrup, and the other still had a strong cinnamon taste. When we questioned this, the server casually mentioned the cinnamon syrup--something not disclosed on the menu. I had to specifically ask her to take one back rather than her responding promptly. Next, they brought our sushi rolls, but no plates, no soy sauce, and not even dishes for dipping. We had to ask for all those basics. I specifically chose two rolls without cream cheese--because I don't want cream cheese in my sushi--and yet one still had it. The server's response was to chat with a manager but not to offer any solution, compensation, or correction. Overall, if a menu lists certain ingredients, that's what should arrive. Adding things like cinnamon in a drink or cream cheese in a roll--especially when people might have dietary needs--is careless. They need to be more attentive to both the menu and the customer's feedback.

I was very excited to try this place because their website mentioned that they offer fresh kizami…read morewasabi (I included a photo from the internet of the type of wasabi I've received when ordering this at other locations). I was pumped because not many places around Mansfield/Arlington seem to offer it and it really enhanced the experience of sushi. Unfortunately, I paid 1.99 for the fresh wasabi and received the regular wasabi paste.. which was fine, but usually that's standard at sushi places and not extra. I really was set to enjoy the rougher cut wasabi. Otherwise, I did order two California rolls for my kid and I, garlic Cajun edamame, pork gyoza and another roll (it had shrimp tempura and eel, but I can't remember the name). It was my first time trying the eel roll and I thought it was good. The California rolls were solid and my son enjoyed the gyoza potstickers. We came in on a Saturday around 3pm and the place was totally empty, but the staff was very nice and courteous when we entered to pick up our order. It took no time to put together and we enjoyed our sushi at home minus the fresh wasabi. It was also very clean in there. The quest is still on to find a place with the wasabi, but this was a nice place to stop! Thank you to the staff for the kindness.

Everything came out pretty quickly, especially the drink, which I appreciated. The calamari was good and the sushi was fresh and enjoyable, definitely some of the better sushi I've had south of downtown Dallas. Service was also pretty good. I had a few questions and they were all answered without any issues, and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. It wasn't too packed when I went, almost on the slower side for lunch, which honestly made the experience feel very relaxed. It's a really family-oriented, community-run type of place, and I'd actually love to see them get a little more lunch traffic because the quality is there. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. Any chance we get eat sushi, we are here to order takeout or dine in. The tuna and salmon sushi are some of the finest around. The incredible roll (minus cream cheese) is fantastic. A runner up is always the emperor roll. Kiddos enjoy the spicy tuna roll, spicy california, and regular smoked eel with teriyaki sauce. Trust, only hubby eats this eel thingy. LOL! Service is always great. However Friday nights are always busy. Service can be slightly slower than usual on Fridays but so worth the wait in my opinion. I have never made reservations nor have we attempted to do so. We love coming here; never disappointed. But here is rated close to the infamous Wycliff location; wonderful sushi spot too. If you know, you know!!! Because I am definitely a sushi snob. Happy eating! And tell Chef Benny hello!

So my husband and I decided to go get some hibachi for a date night. We have been here before and…read morethe food was good. This time, it was HORRIBLE. To pay $80 plus for hibachi that was nasty is crazy. 1st the customer service by the waitress was good. She did get our order wrong but she was nice. The cook came out with everyone's order wrong but ours because I went to her and got her to fix ours for before the cook came out. He checked everyone's order and that was the only time he interacted with us. He never even asked if anyone had an allergy . He then proceeded with cooking. He did his thing with the knife and spatula. Then, he spun an egg and put oil around it and lit it. That's where we felt heat. He then proceeded to cook the rice and vegetables. Then, he cooked 1 steak at a time. There were like six orders of steaks, but he cooked them one at time. He used the same knife and spatula to cook every piece of food on the burner. He used the same spatula and knife to dip it in the butter and to serve everyone their food. He cooked steak, chicken, shrimp, rice, and vegetables with the same one. He never wiped it off and never changed his spatula or knife for a different one. The only other trick that he did was stacked two pieces of onions together, put water in it, and it was supposed to be the train that they do... But he allowed it to go for 2.5 seconds then cut it and continued cooking. Everyone at our table were not pleased with the show nor the food. I spoke with the manager and he gave me some food from the back and that was horrible as well. My husband did pay for our food and we gave a tip to our waitress to then come home, and my husband has been sick since then. I did inform the manager of what happened and how disappointed we was with the service of the Cook. Now, I am at home trying to ensure that my husband recovers from what I believe is food poisoning. That was the only thing that we ate that day and he has been sick since then. I hope they can get it together so no one else can experience what we did, but we will never go back to this establishment.

Good thing the lighting was dim. The air was stagnant. Box fans on floor need to be cleaned and put to use. Also, using dining area to store overflow supplies (see pic). If this place is upscale, Waxahachie is in trouble. Secondly, I requested the combo fried rice ($13), which I was told included steak, chicken and shrimp, but was instead served the Hibachi combo dinner ($36), which included the same proteins and less fried rice. I suppose I should have noticed when the waitress asked if I wanted the soup and salad (which I never received, contributing to my confusion), but I dove right in when the food arrived. The food, especially the appetizers of vegetable tempura and gyoza (pan-fried) were tasty and well-prepared, that's why I 'm rating a 2 and not 1. When I received the bill and reported the misunderstanding, as well as the absence of soup/salad, I was merely offered soup/salad to go but chose instead tempura cheesecake (gross). Overall, food was decent, but service and ambiance were horrible. My advice: go to Hibachio down the street, see if you can pay an extra $20 to watch them cook your food, and you'll still come out way ahead.
