Yeah, it's ok as far as Poké bowl places go.... I tried them first years ago when they first opened (ordered lunch at while at work nearby) and I think they were better back then. I've noticed a trend with restaurant establishments on base (I've been here for almost 20 years now, so I think I can say something about it!), they open up, become popular and then probably know that they are "elite" in the limited choices for people who live on base (especially those in the barracks w/limited transportation)-there is definitely not much to choose from. Then, it seems the quality and service just start to derail, sadly, because again, like I said it seems they probably think they are in a "secure" spot to have the business. Anyway, this time around I got a regular bowl with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and mixed greens only. There are only three sauces to choose from so, went with the two 2 out the 3, which were tasty enough. The fish did taste fresh but for 17 bucks for a regular bowl, I would expect serving size to be more. I don't know if I can bring myself to spend 16 bucks on a smaller portion than most other Poké bowl places off base that have a bigger portion size for about the same price, or even just for a dollar more. Also, the girl that was putting my bowl together was definitely rushing me (note: there was not a huge line behind me). 10/10-one of the best food options on base. It's my favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat, and it's always tasting so yummy. I normally get half white rice, half brown rice and then tri-tip, kimchi shrimp, the other limited edition shrimp, and/or the raw scallops. You have to get the avocado, fried onions, spicy mayo, corn, and edamame, as toppings. I really hope they open more locations on and off base, although I doubt that's ever happening. I was there at lunchtime and there were several Marines dining there so the portions must be large enough for them. Many were there to pick up orders and left with 5 or 6 takeout orders. Really delicious food. I came here about an hour before closing and the employees were very courteous. I hadn't actually been there before so they explained the menu to me. I also believe the price was good for the amount of food that I got. I got a 3 entree regular bowl with white rice, tri tip,chicken, and shrimp tempura. What a waste of money. The amount of food you get for the price is absurd for a fast food type of place. You have two options: 2 proteins or 3 proteins. Example of a 2 protein bowl is in picture (maybe a 1/4 cup of steak and a 1/4" slice of spam) over "sushi rice" (white rice), brown rice, or salad. And up to three scoops of toppings which are the size of a melon baller. The 2 protein bowl is over $8. The 3 protein bowl is over $9. I'm not a very big person, nor do I have a giant appetite but that is not enough meat for any adult. I know Americans are basically fat, gluttonous pigs, but let me be me, give me my food. In the same way I call all these pop up Poke spots Chipoke this too is in the build your own bowl sort of fast food eating. Camp Pendleton has never really been a destination for food, so people living on base can come and go freely, but those without access have really never been left wanting as the selection off base is 100X's better than off base. With that selection you are also going to get the same quality scale bell curve you find anywhere. It's a bit of a cross between a Yoshinoya and a poke spot, L&L with sashimi bowls. Obviously one of the biggest criticisms in the poke bowl craze is that the rice is plain white, there is not vinegar preparation, no sushi rice. Well they went too far and over vinegar some of their rice. The paddle technique is likely not used and certainly not the spray bottle technique and they for sure use way too much. It has it's place on fish bowls, but nothing else. I like the imitation crab meat because I actually prefer the Hawaiian over mayo style. You can't deny the Hawaiian influence with the spam on the menu as a hot protein. Some seaweed paper, some edamame, but severely lacking options. Their grab and go options sit somewhere between a sushi restaurant and grocery store sushi. They do not have the full menu like the Bonita location. Chicken tasted like it was just marinated in soy. The place is new and it's pretty clean in that sort of on base feel. Like how they basify things from how other franchises look off base. The staff is pretty friendly, but anytime you have a business on base they have some say on staff. You have to remember Military bases are like little islands unto themselves in certain ways. Seeing spam on the menu I asked if they had eggs and they did not. If I'm ever riding through base again I'll stop off, but it's not worth going on base just for this. read more

The menu was amazing with great proteins, fish poke and great toppings. I was pleasantly surprised. The place seemed slow but after I sat, tons of people starting flooding in, I'm sure it's was because of the good food. The cashiers and help were very professional and quick. Hibachi-San. Granted Poke is Japanese dish I was expecting more like a hibachi kitchen rather than a poke place. Driving by I had always heard good reviews and people raving about the food so I figured I'd try it on a Wednesday for lunch. The dining area and kitchen were clean, tons of space with an easy to access line. It was hard to see the standing menu behind the counter however the menu items are posted to the glass which makes it a bit easier. Between their meat and toppings it is pretty standard however their meat is very into basics and keeping it pretty user friendly, most of which I think because it's on Pendleton. I was surprised to see shrimp tempura and spam on the menu however, getting a white "sushi" rice with all toppings, spicy mayo, salmon and spam in a medium bowl. The bowls themselves are decently sized, the toppings being under filled and the rice being overfilled. The salmon itself was tasteless, the spam being just grilled and the toppings being somewhat less fresh. Honestly I was very underwhelmed with the meal, the rice being filling and the Thai tea being a bit too sweet for me. The staff was friendly though!
