Located on base, it seems to be a favored establishment because it serves healthier options consistently with smiles and no nonsense. For the price, you can get a large bowl of protein, salad, and rice combo. Service is friendly Everything is clean Restroom is available A couple televisions are playing Is it the best poke place? Probably not but it is considerably and consistently convenient and healthy. read more

Yeah, it's ok as far as Poké bowl places go.... I tried them first years ago when they first opened (ordered lunch at while at work nearby) and I think they were better back then. I've noticed a trend with restaurant establishments on base (I've been here for almost 20 years now, so I think I can say something about it!), they open up, become popular and then probably know that they are "elite" in the limited choices for people who live on base (especially those in the barracks w/limited transportation)-there is definitely not much to choose from. Then, it seems the quality and service just start to derail, sadly, because again, like I said it seems they probably think they are in a "secure" spot to have the business. Anyway, this time around I got a regular bowl with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and mixed greens only. There are only three sauces to choose from so, went with the two 2 out the 3, which were tasty enough. The fish did taste fresh but for 17 bucks for a regular bowl, I would expect serving size to be more. I don't know if I can bring myself to spend 16 bucks on a smaller portion than most other Poké bowl places off base that have a bigger portion size for about the same price, or even just for a dollar more. Also, the girl that was putting my bowl together was definitely rushing me (note: there was not a huge line behind me). It would've been nice of her to ask something like if I had ever been in before, so that maybe she could offer to help me along? Customer service goes a long way people. read more

For Poke, this place isn't that great. Every fish is covered in some type of sauce. And that's in addition to the globs of sauce they pour over the everything. I didn't feel it was fresh. However, the lemonade was good. The service was fast too. read more

FOOD was delicious, tonight as always. We were here at bout 8 pm. The sushi rice mixed with Poki, teriyaki chicken, and crab meat....theres just something special about this combination that is so flattering to the tastebuds. I added cucumber and fried onions and WOW! SERVICE Tonight we were greeted by the Hispanic manager who took really good care of us. We didn't feel rushed at all. Sometimes there's so much to choose from. The gal from Micronesia, was a delight to chat with. She laughs at everything. We love her. AMBIANCE We are retired and seldom in a hurry. We got caught up watching Biden and Harris on the news. It's clean in the diner and quiet. The Olympics was silently playing on another TV All in all, we love this place. $27 for 2 regular bowls that was very very filling. That's about the price of McDonald's when we go, so go here and get good healthier, food. 5 STARS FOR HIBACHI SAN! read more

10/10-one of the best food options on base. It's my favorite place to grab a quick bite to eat, and it's always tasting so yummy. I normally get half white rice, half brown rice and then tri-tip, kimchi shrimp, the other limited edition shrimp, and/or the raw scallops. You have to get the avocado, fried onions, spicy mayo, corn, and edamame, as toppings. I really hope they open more locations on and off base, although I doubt that's ever happening. They also don't really accept tip, which is sad. But the price is justifiable, and if you don't end up liking it, you have a bunch of fast food options within walking distance. read more

It's decent, I like the food, the options are a little limited. Don't bother getting the shrimp cause you'll get maybe three shrimp and the rest are tater tots. They will make sure you don't get a lot of shrimp but if you order anything else it's better portions. The workers are always really nice. read more

ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Parking-lots of shared lot parking, both directly out front and in the exchange and commissary parking lot. Seating-5-while there is it an over abundance of searing, there is always an available place to sit. Wait staff-5-the. Punter staff is helpful and polite. Speed of Service-5-your meal is prepared and you pick your protein, rice, veggies, and sauce. Food-3-this has always been my go to when I am by the beach, unfortunately the normally awesome chicken was not awesome. It seemed that my chicken was more fat than meat. The beef was so-so as well, but the pot stickers are always great. Always get extra teriyaki sauce!! Ambiance-4-Nothing special, but there are two large tv's on the wall for news as well as available bathrooms. Price-4-Better than average, and it's a good sized meal. Overall-4-Really like the food here, just wish that the chicken had been better. Shout out-Boba! read more

I rarely eat Japanese food so I may not be the best judge of their food. Maybe this is highly influenced by California tastes. I found the food very tasty and the portions were large enough for me. I was there at lunchtime and there were several Marines dining there so the portions must be large enough for them. Many were there to pick up orders and left with 5 or 6 takeout orders. The eating area is clean, well organized & comfortable. I highly recommend this place for lunch. read more

Food was okay. They douse the sauce, so ask the amount you want or expect everything to be overly covered in whatever sauce you request. The service from the lady who took my order was terrible, if it wasn't for the young lady showing kindness while I looked for chopsticks, I'd given 0 stars. When you're serving someone their food or handing it to them, don't toss it in the counter after you bag it or throw the chopsticks either. It was my first time and my last to ever go. read more

Really delicious food. I came here about an hour before closing and the employees were very courteous. I hadn't actually been there before so they explained the menu to me. I also believe the price was good for the amount of food that I got. I got a 3 entree regular bowl with white rice, tri tip, chicken, and shrimp tempura. The spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce were great compliments to the meat and rice and blended well. I will most definitely be returning. It was also very clean. read more

One of my families to go to places! Definitely not hibachi, more like bowls. But still delicious! I will say, do not go close to closing! You will be disappointed and sad lol :( The tempura shrimp with spam on white rice and your choice of sides with spicy Mayo, yum!!! 10/10 super yummy! read more

It's fast and the cold choices were better than I expected. However it's quite expensive! We had 4 regular and 2 single bowls and no drinks and it cost $60! Pretty expensive for a fast food place! But--the rice was perfectly cooked and the meat tasted pretty fresh. Customer service: ONE star. Rashelle is RUDE! She rushed each one of us, has monotone voice except when her friend was leaving for the day. She should be working in the back!!! No excuse for rudeness when you choose a job like this! What a waste of money. The amount of food you get for the price is absurd for a fast food type of place. You have two options: 2 proteins or 3 proteins. Example of a 2 protein bowl is in picture (maybe a 1/4 cup of steak and a 1/4" slice of spam) over "sushi rice" (white rice), brown rice, or salad. And up to three scoops of toppings which are the size of a melon baller. The 2 protein bowl is over $8. The 3 protein bowl is over $9. I'm not a very big person, nor do I have a giant appetite but that is not enough meat for any adult. I know Americans are basically fat, gluttonous pigs, but let me be me, give me my food. I will never return here. In fact, I let my 50 pound kid get a bowl and I abstained from the inevitable disappointment of remaining hungry after I eat a $9 bowl of bull$hit. read more

In the same way I call all these pop up Poke spots Chipoke this too is in the build your own bowl sort of fast food eating. Camp Pendleton has never really been a destination for food, so people living on base can come and go freely, but those without access have really never been left wanting as the selection off base is 100X's better than off base. With that selection you are also going to get the same quality scale bell curve you find anywhere. It's a bit of a cross between a Yoshinoya and a poke spot, L&L with sashimi bowls. Obviously one of the biggest criticisms in the poke bowl craze is that the rice is plain white, there is not vinegar preparation, no sushi rice. Well they went too far and over vinegar some of their rice. The paddle technique is likely not used and certainly not the spray bottle technique and they for sure use way too much. It has it's place on fish bowls, but nothing else. I like the imitation crab meat because I actually prefer the Hawaiian over mayo style. You can't deny the Hawaiian influence with the spam on the menu as a hot protein. Some seaweed paper, some edamame, but severely lacking options. Their grab and go options sit somewhere between a sushi restaurant and grocery store sushi. They do not have the full menu like the Bonita location. Chicken tasted like it was just marinated in soy. The place is new and it's pretty clean in that sort of on base feel. Like how they basify things from how other franchises look off base. The staff is pretty friendly, but anytime you have a business on base they have some say on staff. You have to remember Military bases are like little islands unto themselves in certain ways. Seeing spam on the menu I asked if they had eggs and they did not. If I'm ever riding through base again I'll stop off, but it's not worth going on base just for this. read more

Hibachi-San is one of the first poke places I've seen combine cold and hot options. I was skeptical about how it would taste at first but within my first few bites, I was sold. I ordered a small bowl which comes with your choice of white rice/brown rice/salad or a combination of two, and 2 selections of protein. I chose the salmon poke and the spam and asked them to pile up all the sides (including seaweed salad, edamame, garlic flakes). It was delicious! I never considered how tasty the unique mix of salmon poke and spam would taste. read more

I was driving through Camp Pendleton and found this Gem- Asian almost local Hawaiian style food. Japanese yes, but really local in nature and flavor. The menu was amazing with great proteins, fish poke and great toppings. I was pleasantly surprised. The place seemed slow but after I sat, tons of people starting flooding in, I'm sure it's was because of the good food. The cashiers and help were very professional and quick. The parking was ample and the restaurant looked very clean. The atmosphere was definitely chill and calm. The prices were very reasonable and fair. The portions very good, almost too much. Hibachi-San. Granted Poke is Japanese dish I was expecting more like a hibachi kitchen rather than a poke place. Driving by I had always heard good reviews and people raving about the food so I figured I'd try it on a Wednesday for lunch. The dining area and kitchen were clean, tons of space with an easy to access line. It was hard to see the standing menu behind the counter however the menu items are posted to the glass which makes it a bit easier. Between their meat and toppings it is pretty standard however their meat is very into basics and keeping it pretty user friendly, most of which I think because it's on Pendleton. I was surprised to see shrimp tempura and spam on the menu however, getting a white "sushi" rice with all toppings, spicy mayo, salmon and spam in a medium bowl. The bowls themselves are decently sized, the toppings being under filled and the rice being overfilled. The salmon itself was tasteless, the spam being just grilled and the toppings being somewhat less fresh. Honestly I was very underwhelmed with the meal, the rice being filling and the Thai tea being a bit too sweet for me. The staff was friendly though! Try it if you're on base, if not there are TONS of good poke off base and more northern! read more
