My husband and I have been going to Hibachi Buffet for many years (since they opened in 2010). It is one of our family's favorite Chinese food buffets in Minnesota. The quality of the food is great, the servers are friendly, and the restaurant is pretty spacious. No. However, this place has stayed consistent over their many years of operation, and the prices have not increased absurdly. A little-known fact is they were one of the many restaurants affected by ICE's presence, to the point where sales dropped by 70% (the owner gave me the stat). They have seafood- crab legs, fish, crawfish, shrimp, and more. I am writing this review solely based off of ordering food to go, not on the actual buffet part. I knew going into things that there was a chance that they simply pulled the food from the buffet, but I was hoping that was not the case and that they'd actually make the food fresh. I was wrong. It was evident that the spicy General Tso's combination special ($8.25) that I ordered came directly from the buffet, as it was cold by the time that I arrived to pick it up. Food didn't taste bad at all, but if you're in the mood for FRESH food, head elsewhere. Very good customer service and kind employees, normally at buffets you don't get such kind workers since other locations are normally more involved behind the scenes but everyone that works here is amazing. The food is also awesome and very good. I recommend the Mayo shrimp for shrimp lovers! Just by the looks of it and the area, it automatically gives you a shaking head vibe but it's actually not bad. It's a smaller buffet version of a Teppenyaki buffet. So I will say the best area of this buffet is the Sushi! It is made very beautifully and they don't use too much rice as you see in other buffets. And they make creative shapes and flavor wise is good! They offer raw rolls and fully cooked rolls. All other stuff is normal buffet foods. Something about that spinach dressed salad with mandarin oranges, I always get it and it's a nice somewhat healthy food compared to all the junk I eat there. Price is around $9/10 for lunch, can't remember but very cheap! The floors can get slippery so be careful. The servers are nice and remove your plates on time when you are finished. read more

I have no shame in loving this place- the food is fresh and hot( and if it isn't, you can tell and ask them to make fresh). I have eaten here a few times but recently discovered the to-go option- game changer! It's charged by weight, I filled my box so full I was scared it would be very expensive- it was 9 freaking bucks! If you spend $7 or more on a to-go order you get a free can of soda or tea! So awesome, and the staff are just great. The space is really clean, spacious and the service is friendly. I was very nervous about eating here but once I saw how clean the inside is I was at ease with the dining here. There is a nice broad selection at this establishment. There are five stations and a hibachi bar. I was impressed that the selection included baby octopus; these folks have covered all the bases. The food itself was just ok. As I've mentioned in other hibachi Buffett reviews, I suppose that it's hard for everything to be good when there is so much to make taste good. The ingredients that I had prepared over the hibachi grill were prepared well and tasted good. The value redeemed the quality of the food. The cost for two for dinner for the buffet was $25. Wow! It was just a pleasant surprise for me to dine there as a visitor in Minneapolis, Minnesota!! As a former resident of both Southern California, Orange County area and New York Queens borough, I was used to the HIGH PRICE LOW QUALITY kinds of food in any restaurant. Honestly speaking, it's mediocre but since it was the midwest/Minnesota, I can't have such high expectations as in California or New York. There was no soup which is a bummer. However, the "Volcano sushi" and "Hibachi sushi" were some of the best sushis I ate!!! All condiments are available to add(soy sauce, eel sauce, ginger slices, wasabi, etc). Then there's the section of the hot/cooked foods that range from American fries/fried shrimp or tempuras to baked potatoes(yam). Then Orange Chicken, green beans were all common for you to eat. The steamed Salmon was another one of my favors because like the the overcooked/hard salmon in LA(El Monte/Rosemead to be more specific), it was tender and soft whilest cooked at its finest~!! They are also very kind; they made quite a fuss over my mother and we celebrated her birthday here several times and even made a glorious little dessert for her 97th using ice cream, chocolate, and mandarin orange slices as flower petals...free. Hearing they had been targeted during the June riots made me sad, but I'm happy to say they're back in business for lunch and dinner. I'll tell you more later. read more

I've drove by this restaurant many times, but never had a chance to try it out. Today, I was craving hibachi so finally decided to give it a try. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet including a range of desserts, fruits, sushi, soups, hot and cold foods, both American and Chinese along with a hibachi grill. Upon walking in, the host was very friendly. He asked if we had ever been here before and when we said no, he told us we could walk around and look at the food before deciding if we really wanted to eat there. Since I love hibachi, this was my first stop. I piled up noodles along with various vegetables and meats. They offer three different sauce types, but I chose Mongolian and told the chef to make the dish medium spicy. The dish actually turned out being quite spicy, but I love spice so I didn't mind at all. However, I wasn't too impressed by the sauce seasoning. Other hibachi places that I've been to have richer, more flavorful seasonings to top off their food. I also tried their sushi which I didn't think was impressive at all. The fish seemed somewhat old and just didn't taste very fresh. The clams were also very sandy and the fried shrimp and fish seemed to be more batter than the seafood itself. However, overall, they had a large selection of foods and the rest of the dishes were pretty good. I didn't think the food was amazing, but for the price that you're paying, it's sufficient. Also to mention, you can find coupons for this buffet online, but the owner says you must physically print them out rather than showing it to him on your phone. read more

After driving past this place a million times, I finally tried it. The problem was I wasn't hungry at all, I know, who goes to an all you can eat buffet when your not hungry? Well I can only blame my BF for that one. I didn't try much besides the hibachi part of the buffet which reminded me of Mongolian BBQ where you pick all your meat and veg and the guys cook it up for you on the grill. My BF on the other hand was starving so he tried everything and was in heaven. He gave it top reviews and would come here every week if he could. They really do have a large variety of stuff here from Chinese cooked dishes, all you can eat sushi, salad bar, hibachi bar and a dessert and ice cream bar. My BF really enjoyed the shrimp and the Asian desserts and many of the numerous Chinese dishes he tried. He thought the food quality was very good. The atmosphere was interesting. I believe they have just been renovated but it was a winter day and salt was all over the floor so it was hard to tell. The buffets looked new and clean but the clientele left much to be desired. That comments for you buddy, the guy who sat behind me and kept pushing me every time you slammed into the booth! We were downtown because our daughter is in the hospital. We choose this place because it's a buffet and had decent reviews. Well that sucked... quantity over quality is the name of the game here. Tried two dishes at the hibachi grill, both looked wonderful but had zero flavor. Had to add more salt and soy sauce than I'm comfortable admitting. Food on the buffet was plentiful but bland and odd. The teriyaki chicken was more liked grilled rosemary chicken. Orange chicken was very slimy and tasted like the stuff you buy in the freezer from Walmart. Wife said the fried rice was pretty good though. That's worth one star. Hibachi is a mid-market Chinese buffet. I love authentic Chinese cuisine, but there are days when I crave to indulge in some Americanized versions of my beloved dishes. The buffet is affordable (think $12 for dinner - lunch is much more cheaper) and there is a wide range of dishes ranging from the salmon filet, spicy chicken, buffalo chicken, to a mediocre sushi selection (which is still pretty good!). The buffet offers everything to provide the breadth of options to meet the needs of most individuals. The staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs and concerns. This made the experience pleasant as typically buffets operate on more of an "up and out" mentality (a joke for any consultants reading this). Our host drew up conversations and even cracked jokes to help make the dining experience lively and memorable. From an interior perspective, the dining space is spacious, has good lighting, and fairly clean and organized. This is somewhat important as a clean eating area means the kitchen should be clean as well. Overall, this is a good buffet that gets the job done for those craving a once-in-a-while AYE extravaganza. This buffet goes slightly above what you would expect for a $10 chinese ayce lunch buffet. The overall selection is good and has decent depth. The sushi selection was okay nothing too special. The orange chicken was on point, as well as the egg rolls. The General Tso's chicken retained a nice crunch although it was coated with lots of sweet sauce. I really enjoyed the panko crusted fried butterfly shrimp, which I seldom see at these types of buffets. As for the fried scallop, that was a let down. They have a large selection of food a lot of variety and when we went on a Sunday night it was packed for dinner which is guaranteed that the food is fresh and always coming out. PLUS they serve beer which many asian buffets don't that was a first I've ever seen in MN to offer alcohol at a buffet. One thing I noticed was that though they did offer sole fish and crab legs they didn't bring it out often enough because every time I walked back up to the counters the trays were always empty which defeats the purpose of paying the extra pricing they have on Sundays for no crab legs. They offer sushi and while I was there always had plenty. I love the fact that they offer spicy mayo and eel sauce on the side with sauce cups for everyone to devour up for themselves.
