We were traveling from the bay area to Mount Lassen in our 2005 camper van when the engine light came on and we started having low power. We found a campground and looked for a place to get a repair. Luckily we were about 1/4 mile from High Tech and they turned out to be absolutely fantastic. Our 3500 2015 RAM was overheating on our return trip to Oregon from Bodega Bay,California . We made it to the Rolling Hills RV Park ( a great place ) This was Sunday evening ,Monday morning at 9 am I drive the truck to Hi-Tech ( after checking YELP) ...the service manager , I think Bryson , listened to my description of the problem ..he almost immediately had one of his techs on it . He started looking for obvious problems first ,visable leaks ,faulty thermostat and water pump . All those looked ok so they ran a pressure check . They were thinking either an EGR reservoir issue ( fairly reasonable fix ) or a head gasket issue ( very expensive fix )! Within 1/2 hour of me driving in they determined it was the EGR . Bryson ordered parts and promised me they'd be in by Wednesday...he was wrong ..he called me at 1130 on Tuesday ,.the part arrived that morning and they had installed and road tested and I could pick it up ( they had a driver pick me up at the RV Park We were on our way a day early and they were also a couple of hundred dollars under the estimate they'd given us We were treated with total respect the whole time . They also found a few problems that wouldn't affect our trip but should be looked at when we got home Too many shops would take advantage of travelers , charging extra for expedited work and shipping as well as trying to "upsell" services ! Don't go to Kupers especially if your a female by themselves they'll charge you extra hours for sure. After Kupers crapped out in me and then two other shops flat out denied business with me HI-TECH Automotive said bring her on down no problem. They're diesel engine tech is hands down really fast and smart as heck. Great bunch of folks the owner was super informative but also respectful and sympathetic to me getting my bastard of a truck good to go. I took it to Hi-Tech for a second opinion. I was educated. If i had only known what Hi-Tech told me about this engine, i would never have had it put in. I do not wrench on cars myself and It needs more work now. Not only did he educate me but he gave me realistic options. There are not enough good things to say. Ive been an auto tech for the better part of 10 years. My truck started leaking oil and smoking on our way to Alaska. We called 30 minutes before they closed and they cleared time to look at it and let us know if they had access to the part it would have been done on the spot. No run around, straight to the point and very heart felt professionalism, and care. Due to the delay they recommend a good hotel, picked up the part an hour away on the way in and had me back on the road before 10am.
