Had an appointment at 915am .asked for presmog and was willing to pay for a carburetor idel adjustment they said they cant do that.they cant adjust the air fuel mixture. Its needed to be able to make the motor run correctly and not pollute. Dont know what scam they did or are doing but the next shop said no problem we can do that. Took my car in for repair and used engine change the insurance paid for asked them to check the transmission and they didn't do any more than they had to. Couldn't repair a code on the engine. All the repair shops should know how to do that otherwise they can't repair the engine. What a joke they are. PLEASE take you vehicle some where else to be fixed. They didn't change the air filter or fix the broken motor mounts. They basicallty didn't do a good job or any kind of job. BAD work and not completed correctly. Great service. Got towed to this garage by local tow services after AAA left us stuck on the side of the freeway. Even though they don't work on RV's they helped us out as we were completely stranded hundreds of miles from home. They quickly diagnosed the problem, sourced a not easy to find part and had us back on the road within hours. Can't say enough good things about them. He insulted us in several ways on a very personal basis and all we were asking was for him to break down the price for us. I'm not a mechanic I don't know about cars when he extended the time it took on the car and raised the expense by 500 I thought I deserved to know why . I should have listened to the person about who said he would call names because he did !!! I called to try and resolve the issue after and he continues to be rude I wish I would have taken my car elsewhere . Traveling home from Portland and my " new " camper takes a crap on I-5 outside of Red Bluff. After a circle jerk with AAA I finally get towed to town and tracked down Antelope Auto. Frank went out of his way to get the part ordered ( had to spend the night) And first thing in the morning they got to work and had me and my piece of shit RV rolling down the road by 9am. When I lived in Red Bluff a few years ago, I trusted Antelope Auto for all of my car maintenance and repairs. I traveled back to Red Bluff recently, and my check engine light came on about 10 miles from Red Bluff. I took it to Antelope Auto the next morning and they got me in first thing. They quickly and thoroughly diagnosed my car almost immediately, and called me with an estimate. Once I approved the work, they had it done very quickly and thoroughly, with all of the same time, care, and quality I had always experienced years before. I also got an oil change at the same time...I did plan on that once I got to Red Bluff as they were my trusted mechanics from years ago! As usual the price was very reasonable and the staff were so helpful and friendly! It felt like I was back home! They treat you like you've been their best customer for years! Very happy!!! Won't go back. Customer service is terrible. If you just need a simple repair maybe .. anything hard they can't do. Frank is rude. Definitely looking for a better place to take our vehicles. $95.00 for a diagnostic only to be told they can't fix it. Last year they told me they could fix it and told me it needed a electrical harness because the truck would need jumped every so often as it wasn't being driven much. Now a year later they don't have a clue. They didn't charge me last year to tell me what it needed I had it in for a smog and oil change. But this time they charged me $95.00 to tell me i need to go to the dealer. Totally bs. Plus I asked them to change my wipers and fix the back wiper fluid hose. Because it was leaking and the wiper was on at one point on the way to drop it off as I was trying to get the washer fluid to stop. Frank tells me now me rear wiper doesn't work and says maybe it's the electrical. No frank your wrong it worked when I brought it to you. Unbelievable and doesn't even fix it. read more

I'm in Redding, but I take my company vehicles to Antelope Auto Repair in Red Bluff for repairs and major maintenance. They do a great job and always try to accommodate me when I need something done quick to get a rig back out in the field. I'm not much of a "car guy," so it's important to me to believe that my car mechanic is honest and straightforward. I always sense that Dale is giving me straight talk about what needs to be done to get on the road again. I've never been to an auto shop that makes me feel more confident than Black Rock Automotive in Sacramento regarding the need for the prescribed work, but Antelope Auto Repair is in the same league, and a lot closer to home. read more

He knew I couldn't afford much AND was pressed for time (I needed my car fixed or I would be late for work) so he cut me a deal financially as well as moving around his whole lunch schedule to accomodate me. He was friendly, straightforward, and literally had me in and out of there in fifteen minutes. The only reason I didn't give him five starts is that I'm really not sure if the price was fair or not, since I hadn't had time to shop around first. We were charged over $700.00 to have an Air Conditioning kit installed. The A/C kit cost $542.45. It was installed on our about June 30, 2015. Less than two years later, the A/C air is warm. We went back to Antelope Auto to bring this concern to their attention, and they said that the warranty is expired. We are not going to give them any further business. After taking it to a very qualified mechanic, we learn the COMPRESSOR is bad, and this mechanic will replace it with a LIFETIME WARRANTY! My research indicates the following: "A compressor warranty covers the compressor, which is the heartbeat of the Air conditioning system. Most Compressors come with a 10 year warranty. When a compressor fails 99% of the time it is from improper installation." It appears to us that Antelope Auto failed us in this transaction. When my husband brought this to their attention, they were unwilling to look into their work to see why it failed. They wanted to CHARGE us for MORE SERVICES. My husband declined. We will no longer come to Antelope Auto for their services because they are completely unreliable. read more

When my fuel pump quit on my full sized Ford Van Frank and the techs at Antelope Auto Repair replaced my defective pump and had me back on the road the same day and at a price that I was expecting to be much more. But the story doesn't stop there. The shop did something that no other repair or tire facility had done before and that was to adjust my emergency brake cable which was way out of adjustment and I didn't realize it. When your brakes fail it is your emergency brake system that you depend on to stop, most call it a parking brake but during an emergency it can save your life. 4/2012 Took my vehicle to them for ac issues and squeaky belt. When I left the AC appears to work and was told that they tightened and added freon. My unhappiness is they didn't listen to me about the problem and they tested the ac without a temp gauge to determine its working. and oh yes, while he refused to charge me, because I was not satisfied he had to have last word and call me anal. AS an afterthought for clarification, we have had the vehicle worked on and spent close to $700 in the past w/o it being repaired so my unhappiness is driven by fear that it is still broken. After talking to folks that understand the ASE program and what they may have done to effect the repair, I feel better, but the lack of trying to explain what was done and how stands in the way of my rating, and yes there are times you will walk away unhappy even if you were not charged and the whatever APPEARS to be repaired. I would give them a ZERO if I could. Absolute crooks! I took my car in for a standard smog test and it failed. No biggie, it happens. BUT, I was told that it failed immediately because the check engine light was on. I did some research because I was unaware this would happen. HOWEVER, the technician absolutely knew this and it was his duty (at the very least moral obligation) to come to me and tell me the check engine light would cause an immediate failure. Especially since the check engine light is the FIRST on the smog checklist and they NEVER should have done the test knowing the light was on and that it would fail because of this. Did they tell me? OF COURSE NOT. They charged me $50 anyway and said it failed but never even did the smog test. I shouldn't have paid but I didn't really get it until AFTER I did some research on this shady practice. Now, on top of all this, they wanted to charge me ANOTHER $90 just to plug their computer in and diagnose the problem and THEN charge me more on top of that to fix it. And, I think it's safe to assume that there would absolutely have been another up-charge given their already despicable trend of overcharging. So, we were already looking at $140 BEFORE ANYTHING WAS EVEN DIAGNOSED let alone fixed. I don't think so. So again, I did some research and found that I could go to Auto Zone and have them plug my car into their computer FOR FREE! So I did. Then I bought a hose for $1.50 and magically the check engine light turned off. I then took my car to The Smog Man (who by the way charged HALF the price including certificate for the smog) where my car passed with ease. Antelope Auto Repair is the EXACT type of place you always read about who take advantage of customers that trust them. This is unacceptable. Please take your business elsewhere and save yourself some money and stress. You WILL get ripped off here. read more

My A/C stopped working during a 4 hr drive in over 100 degree weather. I should also mention it was July 3rd at 2pm so I was not hopeful that it was something I could get fixed. I am 4 months preggie though and it was stinking miserably hot without A/C, so I stopped in Red Bluff out of desperation and called around. The guys at Antelope totally took pity on me and squeezed me in. They made me comfortable, even pointing their office fan at me, brought the car in and fixed the problem, all in under one hour for under $100. They rock!! They saw it was a problem that would happen again and even took steps to help me get it fixed when I returned by putting dye into the system so that my home mechanic could fix it. i was back on the road within an hour and the A/C worked beautifully the rest of the drive.
