The food is good. The customer service is nice. They are willing to put the spice on the side if you're unsure how you'll like it. But they give a good amount of heat for those who are into that. They have the usual Thai fare. Plenty of options for vegetarians. Good portion sizes. I have only ever had takeout. But the inside of the restaurant looks nice enough. It's a small place. So a small group or family could dine in, but it's not a space for a huge group. The biggest drawback is the lack of parking. My Oh My, Hi So Thai! Hungry randomn stop as I passed this thai restaurant. Even though the street parking for this lotless corner location was extremely difficult my hunger was pleasantly pleased. The customerless culturally decorated dining room is surprisingly spacious with the bar on one side and a more family oriented dining area on the other separated by arched entrances. I placed my order at the bar and waited about 10-15 for my takeout order. We ordered pad thai and pad see ew. Both dishes were almost a 5 star rating, IMO. The pad thai was light with minimal oil which I liked but it could have used a little more flavor. The pad see ew was flavorful but the noodles were sticking together. Both dishes lacked amount of noodles compared to order restaurants I have ordered from. I would give Hi So Thai another try when in the area. read more

The restaurant was really good. We got the pineapple fried rice with beef and some finger-licking chicken wings with sweet chili. Our server, Ttoob, was extremely pleasant, friendly, kind, warm-hearted, and very hospitable. The place was cozy, clean, and we were greeted right away when we walked in. I love the food at this location. They are really a takeout/delivery place, although they have plenty of tables at the restaurant. Parking is extremely difficult due to their location. You must park on the street behind the restaurant (up the hill). The food is consistently good, the curries, and the traditional Thai items as well. We love Thai foods and always placed a large TO GO order for our employees when we are here for work. Lots of comfort foods and flavor is good. The fact that the cook will cater to us and our request to adjust a few dish here and there bc we always place a huge order. The price is so inexpensive for the amount we get. Will order again once we are in town. None of us have actually sat inside the restaurant to eat but looks like an older establishment. Happy with the To Go portions and will continue to support them. They have 2 locations and some of the same dishes such as the garlic pork is better here, papaya salad a bit sweet, beef salad delis. Tom yum on the salty side and not sour enough for my taste. The food is consistent, delivery times are reasonable, the prices won't kill the wallet, and, overall, the restaurant hits the spot if you want Thai food in Weehawken. There are not many Thai restaurants in the area but thankfully the food is pretty decent. I've ordered a bunch of different dishes and I wouldn't classify the food as mind-blowingly amazing, but, because of the limited options, I'm grateful that Hi-So Thai scratches the itch when I've got a hankering for Thai food. Authentic Thai food with generous portion sizes? Sign me up! So happy to have finally found a good Thai place that delivers in Weehawken. The steamed chicken dumplings were delicious and surprisingly large for an appetizer. I'll definitely order them again! I order chicken pad thai pretty much anytime I get thai food, and Hi-So's dish was filled with plenty of chicken (nothing worse than a pad Thai dish that barely has any protein). I was ready for scarf food down, so alas no food pictures. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. I would say the flavors overall were very good with generous portion sizes. Our appetizers, the calamari and the duck spring rolls, were solid overall. The calamari could have used a lighter batter and perhaps just a bit less cooking. The duck spring rolls needed some extra flavor. The Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle were both very good. Came here and ordered duck spring rolls, green curry, and drunken noodles. Everything came hot and flavorful, good amount of spice. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning, which made for a rather warm dining experience on a hot summer day. Really great Thai option. We've always done take out from here but tonight we decided to dine in. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday night, which is most likely due to a lack of foot traffic. The food came out all at once and it was piping hot and delicious. Chicken Pad Thai was great and the Thai bamboo shrimp was perfectly cooked and fresh. Server came over multiple times to ensure we had everything we needed and filled our waters. This place was overall was okay. Nothing to write home about. We ordered wings ($8) and duck rolls ($9) to start with. The rolls were full of veggies rather than meat, just meh. The wings were actually really good. I would order those again. We then ordered phad see ew with pork ($14) and drunken noodles with shrimp ($15) Phad see ew was decent. I'm actually Thai. Ordered the Drunken Noodle as saw the many high ratings. Sadly regretted it as when it arrived - it was the most bland and probably worst Thai takeout I've ever ordered. Not authentic and had no flavor - did not continue eating after the first bite. I was really excited when I found a 4-star rated Thai restaurant in this area but was quickly disappointed when the food arrived. We ordered via GrubHub at 6:30 ish on a Thursday night, and it did come 20 minutes before its quoted time, so I'll give them that. I ordered the jungle chicken wings for an app, which were actually not bad. Salty, sweet, sour, garlicky - it was the perfect app. I was really craving some noodles and I haven't found a place in NJ that does a good Pad Thai so I decided to go with something safe like drunken noodles. What was not safe was my choice of protein. I decided to go rogue and get meatballs and they literally tasted like frozen meatballs from BJ's. I know because I bought a giant bag of them a few months ago, got really sick of it and only just recently finished them - so the moment I bit into one of those meatballs, I already knew what it was. Aside from the wholesale clubhouse meatballs, I felt the portion was kind of small, compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. There were barely any noodles. It was probably half veggies and half noodles, which I kind of appreciate but am also kind of mad at at the same time. Yes, I do need to eat more veggies, but if I'm ordering takeout, that is my chance to be unhealthy and I want all the noodles I can get. Also, the flavor was more like pad see ew (non spicy and on the sweeter side) so if you want something spicy, this ain't it. Maybe I didn't order the right dish but the meatball situation is unforgivable. If I do order from here again, I definitely know what I am not ordering. read more

This area is parched when it comes to food options. Bland carbs from every corner. From flimsy breakfast sandwiches at the gas station to bad steak house chains. Cue: Hi-So Thai. What a delicious beacon at a location in desperate need of fresh food not from a Whole Foods/Paycheck. So pleased to eat here!! We ordered pad sie ewe and padthai. The shrimp was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The noodles were cooked at the right texture, great balance of savory, tart, and sweet. The thai iced coffee cane in a great portion, a good surge of caffeine, and sweetness. Additionally, we had fresh summer rolls with a tamarind hoisin sauce dappled with peanuts that was packed with vegetables but could use more thai basil and mint. Really, that's my singular critique. Customer service was friendly and stellar with a wait time of 20 minutes for our order and yet it took less than 15 minutes. An excellent option if you want a cute lunch by the river harbor for take out. Highly recommend and so glad to support this restaurant again in the future! I was staying a night at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor before my flight back to LA. I decided to order Fried Rice (From the Sea). I think So Cal may have spoiled me in terms of very good Thai food. My dish lacked spices. It didn't have any flavor. Thai food has spices and herbs that was missing from my dish. I'm used to my spots asking how much heat I would like and I forgot to tell them so mine didn't have any heat. Thank God I ask for chili and soy sauce (which wasn't included in my bag). My advice to the owner: Don't water it down for the masses. Make it the way your parents did and we will come. read more

We ordered Tom Yum soup, crispy spring rolls, cold spring vegetable rolls, two different noodle dishes, two curries, basil chicken, and the papaya salad. Most things either lacked flavor or tasted bizarre. Texture seemed like the dishes had been frozen and then heated up. Rubbery. Also they were 30 minutes late for our pick up and didn't offer us anything to make up for the wait. Place was empty and we didn't see anyone else coming in. I went to Hi-So Thai for dinner and ordered the Pad See-Ew with beef. The taste was bland- not much flavor to it. It wasn't that bad, but not that good. For $13, I probably could've gotten something better. The portion size was fine. Someone else at my table got the Thai Street Food, which was disappointing in size and quality. The best part of my experience here was with the Young Coconut Water. It tasted super fresh and had pieces of coconut meat in it. Also, the straw wrapper was nicely twisted into a flower design, something I had never seen before. The service speed was pretty good, which was to be expected since we were the only ones in the restaurant (we had a very early dinner). I sort of felt like the owner/manager was just staring at our table and circling us throughout the meal; I suppose that's one way of being attentive, but it's also a way to be slightly creepy and awkward. Overall, Hi-So Thai doesn't have the best Thai food, through the coconut water is great. The atmosphere might be better during peak hours. I will try a different Thai place next time. read more

Decent Thai place. I was lured in by the 4-star review. First, they are currently take-out / delivery only. No issues with this during pandemic as they are still quite speedy with their service. The family who owns this place seems quite nice. We ordered two soups and two noodle dishes and dessert: Shrimp tom yum Chicken tom kha ga Shrimp pad thai Chicken pad see ew Mango sticky rice 3 stars because it was a mixed bag. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. I am allergic to shrimp thus cannot comment on taste. My husband said he loved the soup, though it wasn't very spicy. He also found the pad thai adequate (i.e. no complaints, but no praises either). I did notice they didn't include any lime wedges though. I liked the flavor of the tom kha ga. It was a nice balance of sour, salty, sweet. It didn't seem to have aby spice, so it's perfectly suited to American palates lol. These dishes are so spicy in Thailand! I was disappointed in the pad see eew. It lacked flavor, and the chicken was quite dry. I would not likely come back for this dish, but the soups were flavorful enough to have me try some other dishes from here. I had quickly checked the reviews of this place before walking in and saw all these amazing reviews people had. Though I was still skeptical as to why the place was so dead eventually I got passed that and we ordered our food. Because I'm a huge lover of Pad Thai and this was one of the popular dishes on Yelp I felt pretty confident I had made a good selection. BUT sadly this was not the case! The food came out fairly quickly which was a bit too suspicious, my food itself was not as warm as it usually is when it's just prepared and it was insanely OILY. I hate to say it but this place definitely let me down and so did the reviews. One of my coworkers also commented on the fact that her dish was super oily so it wasn't just my dish. Absolutely delish. I came here with my 3 cousins on New Year's Day after spending the night in the city for NYE. THANK GOD that this restaurant was open, because we were starving! Now, we know Weehawken is a wealthy area, but the corner at which this restaurant was located seemed like a prime area because we saw Lamborghinis, R8s, Bentleys, all pass by continuously while we were there eating for about an hour. It was a great sight to see! The food was spectacular. We all ordered thai iced tea & spring rolls to start with, and both were freaking delicious. Between the 4 of us, we ordered 2 tofu pad thais and 2 drunken noodles. All of it was so so tasty. From the outside, the place looks like a hole in the wall, but the place is truly amazing. I went here a few weeks ago and food was lovely, we decided to order take out which surprisingly came super fast. I had requested the food to be made not spicy with mild sauce instead I received super spicy food which I couldn't eat. I do enjoy spicy foods but due to health issues had to order not spicy and I called the restaurant back and the lady told me they made it mild and If I am not used to spicy foods then that is what mild is. I made sure to let her know I made notes in my order and she said she asked the back of the house and they told her it was made not spicy. Unfortunately although this is a minor issue all they could do was take care of this but chose not to. I am super disappointed in how this was handled and will not be going back. Every year on our anniversary we go to our same Thai spot we went on our first date. We always look forward to it and this year as we were getting ready to look at the menu we saw our place was CLOSED! We were so bummed but still wanted Thai for dinner. Hi-So Thai to the rescue!!! We saw that they were open and had a pretty great menu along with good reviews. We decided to give them a try for this years anniversary dinner. They did not disappoint!!! We were both so impressed with the food along with pricing. We order the Tom Yum Soup, grilled chicken dumplings, chicken pad thai, and the vegetarian basil sauce. Everything was delicious. The Tom Yum sound was more of a dark broth than I'm used to but full of flavor. The grilled dumplings I was impressed with, I've never had grilled dumplings and really loved them. Both entrees were great! Delicious noodles in the pad Thai and a good amount. The vegetarian basil sauce was full of flavor and we added brown rice with it. We would definitely order from them again because we enjoyed everything we ordered. I wish I would have taken pictures but we were so hungry that we dove right in. read more

But NJ is the most diverse state in the union, and it's in the NYC metro. I guess this is what people like in this neighborhood (mich like the others), I've probably got shaky standards for Latin food compared to my neighbors. But this thai joint, not for me.
