I recently sold my home and still had propane remaining in tank, 30% to be exact. I was told that the company does not remove the propane upon the account being closed and that it has to be added to the escrow account to collect from the new owner. This is the only company I've heard of that operated this way. Thet own the tank it is only been there propane every added to it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I called Hi Desert Propane to have new service set up and my newly purchased property. I spoke to a very nice, professional young man on the phone who gave me very thorough information about the cost and process from start to finish. I was able to have the tank delivered and set up within two days. I received a confirmation the day before as promised. The day of service I received a call from the driver Jorge asking if it would be possible to deliver earlier than scheduled. I was thrilled. Not only did he arrive on time, perform the service and thoroughly explain the functions of the tank and the billing he went above and beyond to help me turn on the water and educate me on the water heater functions. Ok, so these guys came out to install a propane tank at a property that I'm renting out. My wife and I were out when the tenants moved in and when we arrived we found two gates opened. One was the main gate to the main backyard, which was unlocked so he could get back there, and the second gate was a small door to the interior backyard WHICH WAS LOCKED because there is a second gate door that we left UNLOCKED at the front of the house for him to access. The service guy had the audacity to loosen/unscrew a LOCKED GATE because he was too lazy to walk around the house to the gate that was NOT LOCKED. Not sure why he would think this is ok. When approached by my wife to ask about it, he immediately gave her an attitude and said that the tenant was going to tighten the latch back on. My wife asked, "Who opened it?" and he said he did, so then he back-peddled and said, "Oh, well, I guess I can close it." Duh! You opened a locked gate and then tried to make the customer finish your job. Very sad excuse for customer service and I honestly wouldn't trust this company. Stop being lazy. There was an access gate left unlocked for you and you should have used that gate. We're going to see about switching to another company quickly. read more

I just couldn't write that check one more time to G&K. Had scheduled delivery for Tuesday at 4.29 a gallon. Looking at my 12 bills over the last 6 years the price had not gone below $4.00. They were willing to bet we had no options. Called Hi Desert and problem solved they could replace the tank, waive the fee, and fill it up next day for 1.99 a gallon. So write a check for $398.00 and get it today or wait till Tuesday and pay 650+. It was a no brainer Hi Desert made the process so simple. Delivery guy showed next day at 8 o'clock like he said he would. Moved the old tank to the side, dropped his in place under 20 minutes, confirmed gas to all my appliances and gone within the hour with no fuss. Not asking for anything free just wanted a fair price. read more

We have had nothing but positive experiences in our dealings with Hi Desert Propane. It's a growing company, so I think we have personally dealt with all the members of their team at one time or another, and everyone is respectful, helpful, and kind. The pricing scale seems fair, with no hazmat fees or pump out fees like other vendors charge. The customer service is exceptional both on the phone and in person. When we were switching from our previous vendor to Hi Desert Propane, the previous vendor gave us a lot of trouble about yard access to remove the tank. Instead of penalizing us, Hi Desert Propane removed the old (full) tank and left it in our front yard for the other vendor to pick up. When we smelled something that might be propane, they came right out and checked. It wasn't propane, and when this had happened in the past previous vendors acted like we wasted their time in calling. Not so with Hi Desert Propane. They were gracious and kind despite the "false alarm" and encouraged us to always call if we smell anything like propane. During our short time with Hi Desert Propane, they had quite a few opportunities to potentially disappoint us, but instead they have impressed us at every opportunity. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for fair pricing and excellent customer service. read more

He was incredibly hospitable and attentive when I provided a narrative of my experience. He tightened all of the propane tanks at my complex and detected AND fixed a water heater leak. BEWARE!!! This company used to be very good. Now, without any notice, they refuse to honor the previous owners payment agreement with me. I had no idea that there were new owners since the employees are the same. The only reason I know that they've cancelled the agreement is because I discovered that they've locked my tank. They said than in order to have it unlocked, I needed to pay my bill in full, which now includes a $175 lock out fee. Then when I was looking at the records that they sent me (the receipt of what they delivered and how much they charged, along with receipts for my payments made) to see why my bill seems so high, I noticed that they are now only sending some of these receipts now. So it looks like they haven't credited my account with SOME of my payments, as well as not giving me receipts for what they've put in my tank. It's like they are only sending me every 2nd or third receipt that they have, or possibly they just aren't counting some stuff. When I questioned this, they threaten to pick up the tank that same day, which is 40% full. Ok, red flag, right? Well, the manager decides not to pick it up since she was obviously completely wrong. So, as I'm waiting for them to send the records that I requested showing what they've charged to my account, as well as payments that I have made but they haven't sent receipts for,(which she claims to have sent twice, but i never received...and she refused to confirm the email she sent it to...then says she will mail them to me Monday, which instead, she actually emailed to me Monday , but only a few months worth after I asked for all of them), I consider just letting them tank the tank and propane back and going to their competitors instead. So, I email asking how much my account will be credited for the propane they will be taking back IF I decide to let them take it. She replies with telling me that the yearly tank rental is not prorated (which I already knew but the year is almost up, anyway, so I was willing to forfeit that just to stop dealing with them), and that she's picking up my tank on Friday. No mention of how much I'll be credited. I replied asking for the information again on how much credit I will get, and asked if I was correct in thinking that I will not have to pay the $175 lock out fee if they take the tank back. She replied telling me that I'm correct that I will not have to pay the $175 reconnect fee (which was not mentioned), but that I would still be responsible for the $175 lock out fee. I replied asking why suddenly instead of being punished with a $175 fee for not knowing that they cancelled my previous agreement, now they're deciding it's now if I keep them, it will end up being an additional $175...bringing my penalty to $350? I also mentioned that I still needed the rest of the records on my account because at this point, I have lost all trust in their credibility with me. She emails me back saying that, as per the new owner, if I want my records, I will be charged ANOTHER $75!!! So in order to make sure they're not ripping me off, I'm being charged. So now, all of the fees they're attempting to charge me for their lack of informing me of all of their new changes is now totaling $425. In just a matter of 5 days, I believe it is...and 2 of those days were a weekend. Yeah, I'd definitely avoid this company unless you like being ripped off for asking questions about anything. And then somehow they deleted my review that I left Friday (this is Monday) before they found was to try to charge me an additional $175 & $75...like this is their way of punishing me for trying to let people know what's happening. I'm really not letting them intimidate me. This is all extremely fishy. read more

BUYER BEWARE!! We were customers of this propane company for two-three years. Before signing up with them, we would get our 250 gallon propane tank filled every 3-4 months. Once we switched to Hi Desert Propane, however, we needed our tank filled every 2 months. Suspicious, I squirted dawn/water on the connectors and sure enough, a bubble formed. We called them, they came out and said we needed the regulator replaced, and that they would come back out to do it. They never came back! Finally we called to cancel our service and then they came out to replace the regulator. After they left, we noticed that every two months we needed a refill of gas. Again, I squirted the dawn/water and again a big bubble immediately formed! We called them back, and the guy who came out explained that they 'hadn't been using the right sealing tape before, but now they are using the correct one.' They agreed to give me 25 free gallons to replace the two years of leaking tank/connectors, but we never got it, as we ended up switching to Silver Valley Propane, and guess what? We don't need fill ups for at least 3-4 months, fancy that! So in our opinion, based on my receipts and experiences with Hi Desert Propane, they are dishonest and incompetent at best. Buyer beware, b/c we had a lousy experience with this company. read more
