A lot of the reviews are showing like they are mad at G&K Propane. They were bought up by AmeriGas quite a few years ago and they are the ones that should be getting the bad remarks. AmeriGas is the WORST company in the whole world!!! They hire people from overseas that are all talking very loud and fast and most of them you can't even understand!!! They don't really care if you get your propane or not. Amerigas has NO good public relations what so ever. The only decent employees are the drivers, and they speak English too!!There are other companies around so choose someone else. If I don't get my delivery by tomorrow, as I am at 18%, I will be changing too!! read more

When I called G+K propane for a delivery last month they refused because it was at 25%. Now that I'm down to 10% they still refuse because I cannot pay them for 100 gallons? I had $80 to give them and I told them I'd pay the rest when my Social security was deposited into my bank. But no, they want their $ up front. I've lived here since 1999 and they always took payments monthly before. And when asked how much per gallon they said "It depends on the account" what?! Sounds rather racist to me. read more

When you contact this company, you are outsourced to India and after two calls and over 35 minutes of holding with no results, they had to give me another international service to call just to schedule propane delivery! This is COMPLETELY unacceptable! After talking with 5 different customer service, I still have not been successful in scheduling propane service. Alas, G & K Propane no longer exists - they are now Amerigas. Amerigas is not local, and not customer service oriented. Be prepared to wait up to 3 weeks for a delivery in the dead of winter, over-priced propane, and a virtual landslide of extra fees and costs. If you have an issue you have to go through their call center, which is a painful and frustrating experience (by design). And they are changing their Terms of Service to require you to go through BINDING ARBITRATION as of November 5, 2021. Time to switch! read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with, horrible customer service. Save your time, especially your money and go with High Desert Air, they are amazing. A husband wife team, they go out of their way to make you happy. I ran out of Propane with G & K and I know it was because their tank was leaking, you could smell it all over outside. I had just sent them a payment 2 days before I ran out. They refused to bring me more Propane and I had to go almost two weeks without Hot water or a stove to cook on and I am 76 years old. They couldn't have cared less!! I called High Desert Air and they came right out, brought me a new tank and have been absolutely wonderful. G & k ,while their delivery drivers are great,the company overall is not helpful . I inquired as to purchasing a tank . They only lease tanks and do not provide referrals . Likely less profit as always . Additionally ,belong to a coalition that has an agreement to pay a lower price than most . However ,they continue to raise the difference! Great, friendly staff. Called for a fill up, and was alerted that I was lacking a few days before my year anniversary and to qualify for the "win you back" price break which you qualify for if you go a year between fill ups with G&K. So, we got the $1.99 a gallon instead of $4 a gallon price. Quick response, next day fill ups both times we used G&K. Always a nice, helpful staff. read more

G&K has always been very courteous, helpful, and I love that the propane truck driver stops by to check the level on my tank. That makes my propane a no-brainer for me and one less thing to have to be concerned with. I also love the Budget Pay Plan as I can build up my "bank" in between deliveries. G&K has also been very quick to send out a service person to check my tank and connections when there is an issue with propane getting to the house. read more

We have been work G&K since 2015 and paid their "lock in" rate of $119 every year and their prices continue to rise (above other companies) - they were only locked in for only 9 mo. Then we had a delivery that was double what it was the year prior and they said they would come check it but if it wasn't the tank they would charge us $80 for the visit... When we found another company that had fairer pricing (Hi-Desert propane referred to us by a worker from G&K!) they told us we would have to pay a $69 fee to remove their equipment- stated in the contract under "service dispatch charges." I would leave zero stars if I could. I had been trying to call to set up delivery, and it took over 2 hours of waiting just to speak to somebody. Admittedly, I waited too long to fill my tank and it got pretty low so I had to pay an exorbitant fee to get propane delivered within 72 hours. Now here I am, 76 hours after making the order and they have not delivered. I called back to check on the order, was made to wait another 90 minutes on hold and learned that they didn't apply the previously mentioned exorbitant fee toward our delivery, but just credited it to our account which was already paid in full. The person on the phone was unfortunately quite unhelpful, and when I asked when I could expect the delivery to take place, she put me back on hold for another hour until their system disconnected me. So here I am on hold again with an expected 82 minute wait time. They have ruined 2 days of my life and I will never forgive them. I cannot wait to change propane companies. read more

He told me how long these workers have been working at this company and I was pretty impressed. They seem to be happy. I have been a customer of G&K since December 2014. I was very pleased with the initial installation of the tank at my residence, and propane price. I needed a tank refill, so after reading the bad reviews I decided to visit the business and ask some questions. The office staff was very courteous, and gave me a great price on my tank refill. They had also sent me a $50 coupon for my next refill, which made it an even better deal. I am a happy customer. read more

We've had a series of negative experiences over the past year that finally led to switching vendors. Last year, despite being on auto-fill, we ran out of propane on Thanksgiving weekend. I called Saturday night, but no one answered. I called Monday morning and was chastised for not waiting long enough for the on-call person to answer. She was rude, but they got us set back up, so we moved on. Six months ago, we found a competitor with significantly better pricing. I called and turned off auto-fill. They charge you fees if they pick up a full or partially full tank, so we were waiting to be empty to switch. Two weeks ago, they auto-filled our tank without authorization, and didn't leave a slip at the door. We didn't even know they had been on our property until I got a bill the next week for $4.85/gallon. I called and left a message. They called me back and before I could even explain my concerns beyond the basic message I had left, they offered to lower my rate to $2.99/gallon, the rate you can buy into in advance. They offered to waive the buy in fee, if I elected to stay. I didn't feel comfortable with that, and asked them to remove the propane they had delivered without authorization. I didn't want to pay for it, but didn't want to take advantage if it was an honest mistake. Instead, they offered to pick up the full tank and credit me for all the propane I had purchased that was still in the tank (approx 100 gallons). I confirmed that there wouldn't be any pump out fees, and that I would be credited back for the total amount of propane. They scheduled the pick up for Wednesday between 9-4. I asked if I needed to be present for the pick up, and they said no. On Wednesday evening, the old propane tank was sitting in my front yard. The new vendor had been kind enough to remove it for me, because G&K hadn't done it. I called to follow up with G&K, and they were unprofessional and rude. They claimed my yard was not accessible (even though their tank was here when we moved in) and blamed me for not being home to resolve the issue. I asked why I wasn't called when there was a problem, but she offered no explanation or apology. They came the next day and removed the tank from the front yard. When I received the credit statement, I realized they had not refunded the hazmat fees associated with the unauthorized delivery. I called to discuss the statement error, and was told I hadn't been charged a tank pick up fee (remember they didn't even unhook it, the new vendor did that). I explained that I had been told everything woyld be refunded, and that they offered to close my account, I had just asked that the unauthorized services be reversed. After a few minutes, she said she'd reopen my account and see what she could do. I got a message the next day that they did in fact agree to refund the unauthorized fees. This was overall a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend their services. They did make things right in the end, but I had to advocate for myself at every step. read more

Because you get away with it with people who don't check out what the competition is charging? We had been customers for 30 years and they don't want to keep our business by offering a discount of any kind. I have been with G & K for 15 years. The best excellent customer services ever. However, since Amerigas bought out G & K, Amerigas is doing business as G & K located in Yucca Valley. Since the "take over," accounting and charges have made me very displeased with Americigas. All the good people in the office (dba G & K) and service employees are still doing their outstanding jobs for customers, however the gouging and increases tacked on by Amerigas are unconscionable and outrageous. read more

The office staff keeps me up on ways to help save on propane and helped me get enrolled in the pay by month plan so there's never a big bill all at once...plus it's a better rate as well. I have never written a negative review on a company, but definitely am regarding G&K Propane. They are more expensive than other companies in the area, and their customer service is the worst in every way. They have questionable business practices. When I called to cancel service over the phone, I asked for a refund of the credit card payment I made in advance by phone (before making the final decision to change to another company) and was told they would notify Philadelphia AFTER picking up their tank in a week, and then a "check would be cut." I said I shouldn't have to wait a week to get a refund for service and propane not provided. After putting me on hold, she said she had arranged for the tank to be picked up the next day and then the request for a refund would be sent I am not optimistic about how long it will take to get my refund. When I mentioned that I would not refer their company to anyone, I got a very snippy response that that was fine, she didn't care. She went on in the same tone to say the everyone has freedom of choice as to with whom they do business. Yes we do, and it shouldn't be G & K. I definitely don't recommend that anyone do business with this company! read more

Previously a 4 star review the recent buy-out from Amerigas has drug the review down to 2 stars (at best). Drivers are still friendly and competent office staff remains but pricing has increased! Promotions for early season fill-ups, punch card for BBQ tank refills are now nonexistent. Worse yet is the last 8 out of 10 times we've been to fill tanks at the dock it's been closed for one reason or another pushing us down the way to the friendly, dock-always open and same price Vagabond Welding Supply. read more

I left nationwide Amerigas 8 years ago for price gougeing and was happy with G & K since then, until now. Just received billing for fill up that was rated @ $4.52 gallon (highest I've ever seen) Called the office to discuss thinking some kind of mistake and explained this reminded me of my experience with Amerigas so many years ago. My bill was adjusted to about $4.00 per gallon. I called Ferrellgas and was quoted $2.15 per gal. for first time customer (only for 1st month). I wanted to know what existing customers were being charged and was quoted anywhere between $3.00 and $4.00 per gal. depending on who the customer is.
