I have taken my car to this business on three separate occasions. They fixed my air conditioning problem the first time. A++++ result. I then had a problem with my car loosing power, then my speedometer stopped working, and various other problems occurred, so I took it in for a diagnostic check. It took a lot of time and patience on their part, but the problem was fixed, and my car was returned in great shape. Ran like a new car. Again, A++++ work. I also had this annoying noise, from underneath my vehicle, this had been a problem for some time. I needed new tires as well, so I took it back to John's Garage, and sure enough, they identified the problem, fixed it, and put new tires on it, and it's perfect. My husband has always done our mechanical work, but he's done enough of that over the years, so it was hard to put our trust in a shop. No disrespect to anyone, and so it's been a great experience with this business. As far as I'm concerned, they are pretty reasonable in their pricing also. I needed to replace my rear tires. I also needed a screw in my front tire removed and repaired. I asked them to rotate the tires so the patched tire is on the rear and the new ones were on front. The technician comes into the lobby and tells the receptionist he doesn't understand why anyone would want the tires rotated. He went to far as to call it weird- in the lobby, in front of me. After a short wait, they tell me they cant repair the tire with the screw in it and would like to replace the tire. I asked if they could do all four but they only had 3 in that size. I'm agreed to replacing the 3 tires. The receptionist comes to me after a while and tells me the tire technician doesn't think the tires need to be rotated. I told her I would prefer the uneven tires on the rear but I understand the technician thinks rotating the tires is "wired" and does not want to rotate them. I told her that was fine, i would just rotate them when i get home. She goes into the shop to talk to the tech. The technician comes in to the lobby to argue his point with me about why having the unmatched tires on the front because its a front wheel drive. I told him that was fine and I will take my all-wheel-drive home and just do it myself. Tire rotation is a service they provide. I don't understand what the big deal was. I guess they didn't want to earn whatever amount of money, either tire rotation fee is. And for the technician to come into the lobby and say what I wanted (to pay them to do) was "weird" really made the whole experience unpleasant. read more

This is in response to the owner: Please spare me the lies. I was NEVER informed that the service would cost $65 until it was time to pay. Refunding me $30 for the mess that was left behind is honestly a JOKE. I drove a long distance, and anything could have happened to my car -- it was unsafe! I remained kind and respectful throughout, but your entire team is unprofessional. PLEASE be cautious when dealing with this business. I received a call from someone named "John" who essentially tried to blackmail me over my review. He said, "If you delete your review, I will not dispute with your bank." That is a clear form of blackmail. I have the voicemail as proof, which was left after I received multiple calls. I have now reported your business to the Better Business Bureau. BTW I didn't report this until "John" called me about deleting my yelp and google review. No amount of money especially not $70 is worth keeping people unaware of how terrible this business is. I've been there twice and had a bad experience both times. I definitely won't be using them again, especially with so many other mechanics in the area. They charge $100 just to look at the vehicle plus a 3.5% service charge to pay with a card, which seems overpriced. Avoid this place like the plague. I brought my car in for a clicking noise I was hearing in the dash and when they returned my car to me I was left without a working AC. Oh! And not only was my car returned to me without an AC, the entire glove compartment was hanging out of the dash in the way of it had not been reassembled correctly! All of the contents were thrown all over my vehicle, haphazardly, and no one even had the courtesy to clean up after themselves or their "work". If that's the kind of incompetence and disrespect taking place INSIDE my car, it's not hard to imagine how they conduct themselves under my hood. When asked what they would do to make up for the situation of breaking my AC the response was "nothing," as I couldn't prove they did it. Funny considering how it was working perfectly fine when I brought it in for service that morning. And after conferring with two other mechanics for second opinions, they confirmed that John's work was subpar, lazy, and surmised they "took on too big of a project and got in over their heads." Suffice it to say I finally got my car fixed by professionals and disputed my charge with John's. My bank backed me and my evidence enough to take it all the way through to arbitration. Took my SUV to Johns Garage for tires and the were mounted, balanced, and put on in 20 min. I went in for an oil change and they were very efficient in asking if I wanted new air filter, and cabin air filter. They brought them to show me and gave me options. Hands down the worst alignment shop in the desert, go somewhere else. I attempted using this horribly managed business twice and on both occasions the same woman gave misinformation. The small dingy parking lot out front is aways a zoo and difficult to find parking. The overall feel of the place is unclean, definitely a mom and pop shop that's looking tired. The woman managing this business is disorganized, forgetful, and rude. She wasted a substantial amount of my time on two separate occasions that could have easily been avoided with some basic communication a customer should expect from a shop providing a service. If you need an alignment in town, I'd highly recommend Tire Pros in Yucca. In august i came to Johns garage to replace my a/c compressor. at the time there was only a remanufacured part for order so we ordered it and installed it. this fixed the a/c, unfortunately shortly about 300 miles later the remanufactured part went bad, i called and they agreed to replace it for free using the warranty they gave me. this time there was a brand new compressor we ordered, they installed it and got it running again with no problems, labor free of charge, and the a/c is still kicking. I had a dreadful experience at John's Garage while getting my Jeep repaired. Initially diagnosed with a faulty fan blower, I was charged a significant amount for parts and labor. Two days later, the same issue persisted. Poor communication followed, with excuses and half truths about delays in obtaining a needed part. Throughout the process (multiple weeks), communication from John's Garage was consistently poor, leading to unnecessary delays. I was even charged for a replacement part that wasn't needed. When expressing my dissatisfaction, owner John berated me over the phone and refused further repairs. John claimed this was because I was "disrespectful to front desk attendant". I told John that I had all the conversations recorded and I would be happy to let him hear for himself, he then told me that he would sue me for slander and that i did not have the right to record him. Wires were left hanging from the bottom of my Jeep for weeks without my knowledge, reflecting negligence. John's Garage is unprofessional and rude. If I could give less than one star, I would. This establishment demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism. They performed an alignment on my vehicle despite knowing that the angler arm was damaged and failed to notify me. Furthermore, the office staff falsely claimed that they had contacted me. Notably, they were aware that the alignment would not be effective due to the necessary repairs, yet they proceeded to charge me over $100. After having the arm repaired, I was promised a complimentary alignment following a discussion with the staff, during which my husband explained the improper procedure and unnecessary charges. However, upon returning for the free alignment, I encountered significant attitude from the staff. Additionally, they informed me that it would take 20 minutes to complete the work on the other vehicle, yet a walk-in customer without an appointment was immediately attended to, causing further delay. It is now 11:38, and I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00. This place is 100% rip off and joke lacking customer service skills, empathy, and most importantly respect for customer and honesty :( (04/14/2025) return to the establishment again for my free alignment after fixing something that apparently didn't need to be fixed according to the mechanic that I go to and let me tell you when I tell you they said that they never had an appointment for me but I called on Thursday they took 2 1/2 hours to finish my car and once they finally gave it back they apologize for all of the inconvenience but honestly it doesn't make sense they were extremely rude from the beginning until I mentioned who my mechanic was they were very inconsiderate and acting like I was a stupid girl until I mentioned who my mechanic was and only once when they knew who the mechanic was that I go to they acted as if I was a part of their mechanic family I guess for this place you have to know somebody to know somebody to get treated right I am 100% over it I will never come here again to be treated like an ignorant human being who didn't know what she was talking about all because i'm a girl I am completely stupid right no this place is a complete joke and if you need a mechanic or somebody who can get the work done and tell you honestly what needs to be done instead of trying to charge you $$$$$$$$$$ just go somewhere else or ask for Mr. Riggs because when it really comes down to it this place is willing to take every penny you have and not going twice read more

I previously had posted a review on their page about the damage that they had did to my car and continue to blame it on me now I'm coming on here to tell you about their customer service. this morning while I was at work I got a call from John garage leaving me a message saying they had a question about my car. When I went to my lunch, I decided to give them a call back. They first proceeded to tell me the wrong information about somebody else's car and then when they noticed it was me they did not ask me anything about the car. They asked me about my bad review that I had left them because of the damages that they did to my car. They asked for me to remove the review, which I would not like to because it is my honest opinion about the place. She then kept blaming it on me and just saying to delete my review I hung up because I had to go back to work and then got another call bugging me to delete my reviews yet again. And then continue to say that the call was about my car when it was not about my car. It was about the review and I told her that and she said "is this not about your car". Like no lady! Gotta love it when things go right ... Noticed a tire was punctured while at the Joshua Tree NP ranger station, so I hopped on Yelp to find a tire repair shop. J & G came up - 8 reviews, 5 stars. Still, with things like this, major hassles can ensue. Not this time. I pulled up, mentioned to the mechanic that I needed a tire repair, was told to pull into the bay and he and another guy jumped right on it. In fifteen minutes I was driving out with a fixed tire and with my wallet not lightened much at all, even with the extra I added. I recognize that we may have hit them at a good moment when the bay was empty, but it still was a 5-star experience, so that's how my review reads. J & G is a small shop - not one of the bigger chain outfits. They also do car repairs. I'll keep that in mind if needed. Highly recommended. read more

I recently moved to Yucca Valley from LA. My work van stalled right in front of John's Garage. No joke! I was looking for an honest mechanic & if this wasn't a sign then I don't know what was! John found the problem with my van & fixed it so I was back on the road quickly. I have also had rats that chewed my wiring on my personal car. John is an expert at fixing this type of problem too!
