Came here a couple months back for ticking in my steering wheel. Car sat there for over 6 hours and was charged and ALSO misdiagnosed. Took my vehicle to its manufactured dealership to prove the misdiagnosis with documents.... The "lady" in the front said "you can try to get a refund but I doubt it" as she laughed. This is one of the BEST tire places I have been to. I was a visitor in Joshua Tree and got a nail in my left rear tire. I went to all the other tire places and they were so slow. Someone recommended John's garage. They were so friendly and fast and despite a queue of people, fixed my tire within an hour. The experience was amazing mostly because of the nature of the team. John's is amazing; they're straightforward, trustworthy, reasonable, and reliable. They've helped me several times from replacing tires to my alternator. They also replaced my battery for pretty much the same cost of a battery at autozone or oreillys. I have had Johns garage work on my Diesel F350 on three separate issues others could not fix. Each time they came through with a final fix accurately, and thoroughly. The pricing is acceptable. My issues were, major like, glowplug, transmission, air conditioning (which an other well-known shop worked on three times, $800.00 later no real permanent fix, Johns permanently fix it for $193.00, including diagnostics) The customer service person was on her game as well. The only issue which they are aware of and trying to fix is difficult parking situation. It amazes me that all areas are accomplished so well. Chose this place as had decent reviews. Took truck in as didn't pass Smog. Charged me 417 bucks for a vacuum leak repair a small timing adjustment and a blinker flasher, and it still didn't pass Smog! Nice enough people but Im a disabled woman in a tight budget and those prices just will not do. In my experience those types of repairs and the short time they worked on it should have been half that cost. They also told me I needed a catalytic convertor which when I took it to another shop, passed my truck with a couple more adjustments, and No Need to replace convertor! They were so great!! Had a total nightmare of a morning, tire shredded and had a wheel lock on my tires. Had no idea, had to get a tow here, they got me in straight away with lots of people already waiting. They had to break the wheel lock which was on so tight from a prior flat tire and reinstalled with a diesel gun. They took it off with no charge, normally costs $200. They got me in quickly, barely any extra cost for the job even balanced my tires!! Highly recommend!! read more

So happy we found this garage - we noticed a bolt lodged in our tire as we were heading out for a hike at Joshua Tree. We wanted to get it taken care of quick so we could still have time to fit in the hike. I brought my car here for some tires a few weeks back and got a great reasonable price, I was also able to apply for Snap a program they offer so I'm able to make payments on the tires. I have really bad credit so I was really grateful I qualified, I just called up the company and adjusted my monthly payments a bit higher so I would pay them off before interest kicks in. Fast forward to today I heard some squeaking on my breaks and brought it in for an inspection and it turns out it was just dust because my breaks were ok and didn't need to be repaired. I appreciate these guys for being so honest and not taking advantage of a woman who isn't really knowledgeable about cars. Took my car in for full service. Was told it needed new rear brakes in new year. Picked up car but they had only done an oil change on it. Was told it was my fault, go figure. I had no oil leak when the car went in for "service" but had one when it came out. Went back to garage was told it was a gasket leak, nothing wrong with oil change. Called the dealer back in NM who serviced and repaired my car often and well, mechanic there said it sounded fishy. Made an appointment at John's to get repair done - part is under warranty. Called on day to say I would be late, or needed to reschedule, due to bad weather on highway. Was told I didn't have an appointment and they were fully booked and of course, again, it was my fault. Most of the reviews I've read look to be for tire work or oil changes - but I would not recommend for auto repair. My experience was a nightmare. Plus front desk staff are not masked and 2/3 of customers not masked either when I was there and remember if anything goes wrong it's your fault. read more

Honest, thorough and great to work with Took my 86 4runner in because it had a major loss of power. George took his time trouble shooting the issue to really get to the bottom of it and to eliminate as many possibilities as he could. After almost a week of tests and trouble shooting he narrowed it down and now the truck runs great. Better than is ever has since I have owned it... You would think that the bill would have gone through the roof with the time and energy put in to the truck, but George kept his word and the only additions where for the additional parts we ended up replacing. Let me start by talking about Ashley, since she will be the first person that you meet when you walk in the door. She is absolutely awesome and so "on point", sharp as a tack. She is adorable and you will be shocked by all her knowledge of cars. Her dad was a mechanic, her fiance is a mechanic and since she grew up around it all, she is on top of her game. About two days ago, I started hearing my brakes rubbing and since I have to be in San Diego next week for an MRI, I thought I had better not risk driving without getting it checked out. I just got paid, did all my bills and that was the end of my money for the month. I went in to to get the car checked out and it was very bad news indeed, needed new brakes, new rotors and my tires were finally wearing through, could it get worse?? I was praying for a miracle...........and Ashley had that miracle right in her hands. She told me that a few months ago John heard of this amazing company called SNAP that will finance your car work. They do not have to do a hard hit on your credit, in fact you don't have to have credit. Within about two minutes, she had my routing number for my bank account, my monthly income (I am retired) and I was in. They financed me up to $600 for all the work I needed done. My first payment is 30 days out, just in time for my next check, and my monthly payment is $80.00 which is totally affordable!!! This is so awesome, a real miracle!!! Within two hours they had all the work done and I was on my way!!!!!!!!!!! They are the absolute best shop!!! John is a total sweetheart and so are all of his guys. So personable, so caring and go out of their way to take care of you. I have been coming here for two years and just love them!! This is going to be a long one at first everything seemed great at John's. I was getting minor work done on multiple vehicles, well finally I had a big job I mentioned an Engine needed to be replaced in my father-in-law's truck I brought the truck down to John's garage supposedly they had an engine they found ready to go in. Two months later I called and said how was the truck coming along they told me they missed out on buying that engine and we're looking for another. Six weeks go by, they tell me they found an engine another two months go by and the engine is finally Installed. I go and pick it up it seems to be running a little rough maybe old gas I filled the tank up. Still rough. they tell me it's the fuel pump and not the engine. This time they give me an insane quote on the parts and labor $1700 to replace a fuel pump! My father-in-law says that's insane he'll do it himself later. My father-in-law's gonna be coming down in about a week so I warm up the truck after it's been sitting and there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust I call John and say hey there's white smoke coming out of the exhaust it smells kind of like antifreeze I am not a mechanic that's why I hired John. I actually videotape it on my phone and send it to him he says it's just condensation in the exhaust pipe but bring it down I figured that could make sense because as the engine warmed up a little bit it didn't seem to be as thick I brought it to them. They called me the next morning and said no it's just condensation in exhaust come pick it up OK I picked it up my father-in-law picked up the truck and drove it back to Nevada a little while later maybe another month and a half he said yeah it does smell like antifreeze and there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust he didn't drive the truck that often since he purchased a new car he thought it might be the head gasket turns out it was a cracked head John sold me an engine with a cracked head for $2800 and took over four months to put it in And charge me another couple of thousand for labor and additional parts! John had been working on my hearse since I moved to Yucca Valley. I needed some rear shocks and bushings replaced on the rear end and this was before I knew about the cracked head debacle in Nevada I brought my Hearse down and I was never in a rush, I let John take his time so after about a month I called and nothing had been done on the hearse and a couple more weeks pass and nothing had been done finally after seven weeks I said hey I'd like to get that done. one of his assistants called me and said OK you're hearse is finished, come pick it up. I went down got my keys to hearse it was filthy it been sitting outside this entire time. I go to start it up and the battery's dead and I'm like what the hell is that. The assistant said yeah I know the batterie is dead. ????!!!! this is a classic car and obviously somebody left the key turned all the way to left let my battery Run dead I can understand this happening so I said hey what are we gonna do.? Well we can replace your battery it's shot. They have the gall to charge me for another battery I'm like that's fucked up now I'm pissed. Who treats their customers like this at this point I don't know about the truck in Nevada yet. I've given this guy thousands and thousands of dollars and had him work on all of my families cars now I'm being treated like this. Stay away from John's garage read more

The inner rear tire on our Sprinter chassis ( for a motorhome) was leaking air. We had discovered the leak with our Tire Pressure Monitoring system while deep within Joshua Tree NP and had to keep stopping to put air into the tire until we could get cell service. We tried calling all the major tire repair facilities outside the park in Yucca Valley, the closest we could find, and none would commit to helping us. They were too busy or wouldn't work on a motorhome. Fortunately, one service rep told us to try John's Garage (which didn't even show up in our Google search). We call and got Jimmie, and she said they would definitely try to help us. As soon as we arrived, limping in on an almost flat tire, Jimmie came out and said they would work on it immediately (she saw our desperation I'm sure since we hoped to get back home in LA the same day). The service person found a nail in the inside rear tire, plugged it and we were on our way within about 30 minutes. Amazing service. The charge was incredibly reasonable too. I wanted a muffler delete on my truck and impatient as I am they were able to get me in the next day on there busy schedule and even happened to finish it ahead of time!
