Red Velvet cookie and brewed,
John S.

It's great to see this neighborhood come back to life. The new small businesses are making a difference, such as Hey Bear! Pro: Their coffee is from Roundtable which is great. Con: Their coffee from Roundtable was served well below the ideal temperature, need some work. There seems to be only one brew for the coffee and the barista didn't know what it was. This is a neighborhood spot and the hot food seems to be the best sellers. I looked for pastries and only saw two types of cookies. Snickerdoodles and Red Velvet. I tried the Red although it was small it did pack a punch for relief if needed. Outdoors there is a stand along counter for dining outside which was unique. This is a small cozy neighborhood cafe I found the prices very reasonable and since they are fairly new to this game we'll give them some time to fine tune.

Tried Hey Bear today! I was soooo excited to try this new breakfast/lunch spot because of some of the hype. Loved the story behind the name and hearing about the work put in to get it open. It's on a perfect little stretch in St. Anthony. I was glad to see they were busy at lunch time on a weekday. All items are less than $10. The young lady taking my order was so friendly and informative and provided all the accoutrements upon receiving my order. The cooks seemed to be having a good time in the back! Regarding my fish- I wish the breakfast burrito was better. I had pretty high expectations based on reviews. Sadly, the rice in the burrito wasn't cooked. There really just wasn't a lot of flavor. The size was just right. There are much better breakfast burritos around town. I do want to come back to try breakfast sandwich. I bet they'd get a lot of business if they were open on Sunday's!

We've been to Hey Bear! twice in the last couple of weeks; we want to try the whole menu! They have a fairly small menu, but everything looks amazing & is under $12 each. The space is cozy and bright, with a good amount of seating, but it did fill up pretty quickly on the Saturday morning we went. Everyone has been super friendly & service was quick, too! So far, I've tried: The Breakfast Sandwich without sausage (they actually knocked a dollar off the price for not getting meat, which was awesome); the biscuit is fluffy & crunchy on the outside, which made for the perfect base for the fluffy eggs. The eggs themselves were so well seasoned & delicious, & the cheese was the perfect topper. The Breakfast Burrito again, without chorizo, was also really good. The tortilla was perfectly crisped & there were, again, those delicious, fluffy eggs. I loved the inclusion of rice, beans, & cheese, but wished there was more egg than rice. I added salsa when I brought it home & that was a perfect addition. The Cold Brew was really tasty as well, & the perfect sized 16oz serving. Overall, this spot is GREAT & we'll keep coming back :)

Super yummy sandwich and super fun spot with excellent service! While the area it's located wasn't the most extravagant, I really enjoyed my time and would love to go back. Definitely recommend.

First time in this restaurant. We were told it was a 45 minute wait and my first thought was, wow,…read morei can probably go down the road to the Garden that grows olives and get in right away. That's decent food. We went shopping across the road and I think within 15 minutes got a text our table was ready. So that was a pleasant surprise. The ambience was great. This is a clean classy place. It looked expensive but I was.... I mean my WIFE was all in and Happy Wife, Happy Life so yeah..... we're going for it. Service was well.... it was over the top. The wait staff and others all chipped in to watch the tables. Different people filled our water, brought us more bread, brought out food out when it was ready, picked up our dishes. It was a TEAM effort and it showed. Service was outstanding. My wife ordered the Salmon Sofia. Not sure what that is exactly and I don't care. It's salmon. To me, it's gonna taste bad no matter how great you prepare it but she said she loved it and would definitely get it again. I had the Italian Pasta if I remember correctly. Slightly spicy cajun pasta with sausage, chicken, shrimp, peppers and onions. It was amazing! There was quite a bit of it in the bowl. My wife says, "Wow, that's a lot. You'll have some to take home!" But I'm no quitter. If the food is good, i'm finishing it. And i'm happy to report that i did finish it. It was really good. I did not however get to try the mountain sized carrot cake. I really wanted some of that but I was too full. Oh, the bread. The bread was not warm and it was different than what i thought, but by the time i finished my 7th piece, I really liked it. All in all this was a very nice meal, perfect for a date night.

One of the staff members noticed and kindly offered to show me around. Halfway through my mini tour, he told me that he was the one who did all the Christmas décor--and that he's been collecting these pieces over the last 15 years. I was really grateful for that experience. Honestly, the entire visit--from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out--was top-notch. For food and drinks, I ordered a Moscow Mule, the Meatloaf Wellington, and the lobster with cauliflower cheese. It was my first time trying a Wellington, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. The lobster, however, was a definite hit--I ate every bit of it! The drink was very good as well. For sure each items is on the pricier end but given the service your definitely getting your money worth. I also noticed they play live jazz music too, so I'm definitely interested in coming back for some good quality music.

Enjoyed a warm spring evening on the rooftop of the Lexington (recently named in the top three…read morerooftops of the Twin Cities in Msp Magazine!). We were warmly greeted by the host who sat us right away in a sunny spot. Our server was wonderful. I ordered a drink that ended up not being up to par, and he kindly offered to switch it to something else with grace and class, without making me feel badly for asking this. This goes to show the caliber of this long standing institution. Customers are treated well and are respected here. Our snacks from the menu were delicious and perfectly sized. The shrimp cocktail was made well. The lamb meatballs were flavorful and hearty. My Hemingway Daquiri was refreshing without being too liquor forward. Love all the Luxardo drinks on the menu! We will definitely be back!

Good all around! Good food, good service and affordable prices…read more Good neighborhood restaurant and bar with friendly staff. Great drink menu and judging by the sign above the bar, they specialize in Martinis. They also make a good Old Fashioned. Been to Bennett's many times. They make a good steak, I love the fillet. If the chicken wild rice soup is available, get it. Might be the best chicken wild rice soup ever. Good burger and handheld offerings on the menu. My favorite is the Little Charlie's. Two sandwiches, tenderloin pieces of steak topped with caramelized onions and horseradish cream sauce. The steak is always tender and easy to bite through. They also offer a meatless smash burger as a vegetarian option. If you're ever in the area for a Wild game take a look at this place. They offer a free shuttle to the Grand Casino Arena.

No complaints there. The menu was quite varied - standard apps, burgers, steaks and even liver and onions. I have to wonder if maybe they should just stick to the basics though. I had the sirloin (vs. the pork chops at the recommendation of the server). It was a big hunk of sirloin. Could have been a bit more seasoned but it was generally ok. The baked potato was pretty hard/waxy (vs fluffy). The vegetable side was some kind of peas/succotash which looked awful, but was quite tasty. The problem is I literally was served only enough for 2 bites of it. The kitchen really should have been embarrassed sending it out. A couple table mates had the prime rib special. I'm not sure how 'done' they ordered it, but both came out looking gray and even fattier than most prime rib. Looked pretty awful. My husband had the New York Strip and said it was fine but that the "house au gratin" potatoes were nothing special. If I came back I'd probably stick to a burger (hand cut fries!) and have steak elsewhere.
