    Brisket sliders

If you have a chance, visit this place! Such delicious, quality food at bargain prices! The place is casual, you enter and order at the front, they'll cook right there and then bring it to you. The place is small and lowkey, but there's some seating outside which is perfect for these coming summer days. We got the brisket sliders and crabmeat linguine. The brisket was so soft and full of flavour, and the pasta had so much crab! Honestly will be coming back here for sure, I have to try all the things on this menu!

Only had takeout. I've been wanting to try for a long time, but it's on the pricey side, so I waited for a comfy night in. I ordered the foie gras and steak bowl. It didn't disappoint. Portion is big because there is a lot of rice, garnish is regular portion. The bowl comes with 1 steak skewer, 2 pieces of seared foie gras, an onsen egg, zucchinis, mushrooms, chestnuts. It's really filling but all well flavored and balanced, and the foie gras really brings it over the top. I'd say once in a while, totally worth the $30 + tax + fees + tip. Just a tad pricey.

It's a small, dark, pubby vibe that's best suited for takeout. Staff was friendly and the food came out super quickly when I ordered takeout at the counter. Generous portion of crab, very fresh and the sauce was tasty. It was a great meal for some beach time at Kits. Would definitely come back for more!

I was a little disappointed with how...normal my dish was? I was expecting it to be a bit more extravagant in some way for some reason. The rice and pork belly was really plain for the price point and the squash on the side also didn't fit well with the dish. The really good thing about the dish was the foie gras. The pork belly that was in "contact" with the foie gras and had the residual sauce on it was good and flavourful! The onsen egg was also cooked beautifully. In the second slide you'll see the amount of oil that was in the rice. Not sure how other people feel but personally not the most appetizing. Overall I would recommend coming to just try it out as my friends mentioned that their dishes were pretty good. I would say it's a pretty average restaurant and wouldn't necessarily see myself recommending coming here. However, I would like to visit again and try something different (albeit not in a hurry) before giving a solid recommendation to others.

Delicious decadent food, great price, great quantity! We asked for the sample platter that included all the popular items on the menu! The platter is an off the menu option. We felt like the one platter was filling enough for 4 people. The foie gras slider, classic slider, and shrimp and cream butter garlic prawns were our favorite! There is one outdoor table and two large bar top tables for 8 people each.

Two weeks ago, we tried out this place near Kitsilano Beach. Unfortunately, they don't have a parking lot so we had to circle around the nearby streets to find a parking meter. The place had a lot of Asian fusion dishes and we ended up ordering the foie gras and minced pork belly rice bowl, brisket sliders, and wings. The rice bowl came with a large piece of foie gras, minced pork belly, onsen egg, and black truffle puree. It tasted pretty good and it wasn't very salty as I think it would. The wings came in 4 pieces and were crispy and juicy. The brisket sliders were my favorite and was consisting of Canadian beef brisket, lettuce, dijon mayo, and grilled peppers. I loved the combination! They also had a large steel egg that holds the silverware when you eat at their two large communal tables. Cute! Staff was very friendly. Definitely a hidden gem around the area!

In a residential permitted area so a little hard to find parking. Two indoor communal tables that each sit 6 people and one outdoor table. One small unisex bathroom. Crab, prawn linguine Premium foie gras Crab risotto The favorite was the crab prawn linguine. The foie gras was rich and had a slice of thin pineapple to help cut the richness. However, I felt some kind of tart sauce would've been a better route. Nice employees. Would return as the ingredients were very fresh and good quality.

The dishes look good but it lacked a little bit in taste. The shrimp was a little bit on the salty side. Didn't taste the foie gras as much as I would've liked even though the lobe was thick.

From the gold railings to coat check to a piano on the stairs to an old school oyster bar showcasing their wares proudly on display, Joe Fortes has a lot going on for it. But perhaps more so than anything else is an amazing happy hour for anyone who loves oysters. Service Before diving into the food let's talk about service. The servers here are dressed in the old full whites with black ties and give you full service. They have an expert knowledge of the menu and are willing to give you any and all opinions if asked. They check on you frequently and make sure you're having a good time with enough banter to make it friendly and welcomed. Happy Hour - Alcohol With that out of the way, we can talk about the happy hour. Yes, they have a great deal when it comes to their house red and white wines where you can get 6 oz for $6 CAD or 9 oz for $9 CAD. Their beers range from $5 CAD to $8 CAD and their cocktails are all under $10 CAD. Happy Hour - Food They have some incredible truffle fries, cut thick and sprinkled with parmesan as delicate as snow for $9 CAD. Their crab & corn fritters are slightly chewy but packed with flavor and come at $12 CAD. The coconut prawns sound just as delicious as they taste and come at $13 CAD. I would avoid the Steelhead ceviche though as it was more mashed avocado than ceviche. However, HOWEVER, the star of the show are their oysters. Coming at $1.75 an oyster, you get to be as gluttonous as you'd like whilst keeping your pockets happy. Vancouver is known for their amazing seafood and with this happy hour from 3 PM - 5 PM it gives you 2 hours to fill your belly with as many oysters as you can. Even if you ordered 50 oysters you would be under $90 CAD. I should know, I did that. Last Thoughts Even without the incredible happy hour Joe Fortes would be a restaurant you have to visit during your trip to Vancouver. With a great selection of food on their menu, wait staff that feel old world and professional, and a setting fit for the city, the happy hour is just the bonus that makes visiting Joe Fortes even more enticing. Come with an appetite, leave with a smile.

Our table for 3 ordered: - Seasonal Mixed Greens…read more - Seafood Tasting for 2 - Hamachi Kama - Halibut Tataki - Haida Gwaii Sablefish - Western Pacific Yellowfin Tuna And for drinks, a Dutch Mule. We were STUFFED, for the price you're paying the portions are very fair and quality you can't beat! I've had seafood in the Bay Area, Boston, and even across countries in Asia, but I was SO impressed by Blue Water Cafe. It is a MUST if you're in Vancouver. Everything was honestly a 5/5, the only dish I would pass on is the Yellowtail, I just wasn't a fan of how much it was wavering between raw and cooked fish, along with the char. It's just not for me, but my parents enjoyed it. Nevertheless, some of the highlights was the sablefish, oh my gosh melt in your mouth. Sablefish is Vancouver locally caught, so very fresh and it has a sweet undertone with the soy and sake marinade. This was my favorite along with the Seafood Tasting for Two, which features scallop ceviche, Dungeness crab salad, albacore tuna tartare, and smoked sockeye salmon terrine. You get a diversity of fishes and flavors, which is most certainly worth the price point. It's the gems of the appetizers put into 1 order. Halibut was also noted to be locally caught, the slices were thin and a perfect app. Hamachi Kama is yellowtail collar, which has a rich, succulent meat. It tasted buttery and was also melt in the mouth. The Dutch Mule was a ginger ale with sorbet. Absolutely delicious mocktail, I held back on ordering a second. The service was also amazing!!! Our waitress welcomed us warmly to Vancouver and even gave us a complimentary dessert to welcome us to the area, even giving us tips where to go near the area and what sights to see in Vancouver.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!
