Hidden gem on the seawall with fantastic view. My new local watering hole with both indoor and outdoor seating. Get here early on the weekends, there will be a wait. Thought their take on the club using seafood was delicious and creative. We also had the pretzel bites and calamari and both were very good.

    Great bar area.

We were visiting downtown Vancouver before & after a road trip to Whistler and while walking, came across the Beach Ave Bar & Grill (BA). We are always looking for a fun, lively bar scene when traveling and BA did not disappoint. The view across the harbor is amazing and if you notice in one of our pics, they have a mirror over the bar so even if you are facing away for the water, you can still see the action behind you. We requested a seat at the bar, and they seated us with a gentleman named Igor. After a minute's conversation with Igor and hearing some of the Staff interactions, we knew we had chosen well. Tristan was working the bar, and we asked him for a few drink & food suggestions, and he did us right. A couple of local beers, tacos and a Cuban sandwich were our choices. Igor was a lot of fun and gave us a shot of tequila - our afternoon was off to a great start. While waiting for our food, we started talking and listening to the Staff. There were some fireworks that night and they were closing early due to the sheer number of people expected downtown. Probably a wise move in a serious crowd situation. As we talked, the Staff gave us so many great suggestions for sights and fun things to do. We were especially amazed by Rose (who must eat a Happy Meal every day - she was just that sweet) and the quick wit of a Poly Sci Major, sadly we did not catch her name. The whole Staff were hilarious while hustling the food and drinks. The food came and was excellent. The Cuban sandwich was a little different from what we were used to (lived 34 years in Miami Beach) but it was excellent. The chicken tacos were fresh and delicious. Everything was great with the local beer. After some more fun discussions, we left BA and promised to come back on our return trip. Sadly, when we returned the following weekend, the restaurant and bar were swamped with guests and we had no place to sit. Oh well - next visit. Many THANKS to the Staff and especially Igor, Rose, Tristan and Poly Sci Lady for treating a couple of travelers to a great afternoon. Cheers, L&J Henderson NV

I've passed this cute grill at least 500 times since I moved to Van, as it's right smack dab on the seawall, just a tad south of the Burrard Bridge, and I walk the seawall all the time. You can't get a better location than this bar/grill, on a seawall corner, looking over boats in the marina, the stately Burrard Bridge, with Granville Island right across the inlet, and all the cute AquaBus ferries crisscrossing the waterway. Also, there's seating outside, literally abutting the seawall, so it's a great place to people- and dog-watch, as there is tons of foot (and paw) traffic in this area, especially when the weather is nice, as it was today. I've also always wanted to visit here, not just because of the scenic and convenient location, but also because, whenever I've passed here while it was open, the most intoxicating aromas of burgers has emanated from the restaurant, and there always seemed to be tons of happy, laughing diners sitting outside and in, with tasty looking meals and drinks on thier tables. Today was the day that I finally visited this place. And it did NOT disappoint. My kid and I snagged the best table, outside, along the rail abutting the seawall, right on the corner. Our server was the NICEST ever (wish I caught her name), and we were impressed by the menu, too. Lots of choices, very reasonably priced, too. My kid and I shared the ahi tuna tacos (we came in between lunch and dinner-time, so we weren't really hungry for a whole meal. This visit here today was an impromptu stop along our seawall walk). Those ahi tacos were fantastic! Wow, so good. And I had probably the best sangria of my life here; they made it PERFECTLY for me. My kid had a beer/sour on tap, which she loved. All in all, we had a great visit here! It could not have been better. Will return for the burgers, though. They smelled incredible.

The view of an excellent local beer with an excellent view from the patio.

Your Uber driver will not be able to drop you off in front of Beach Ave Bar and Grill. Being on the water makes for a beautiful view, but it doesn't help when your wife's 81-year-old mom is dining. She was able to make it down about 20 steps, after walking several hundred feet, to finally get to the entrance. If it were my mom, we would have had to find somewhere else to eat. If you have accessibility issues, please call before you go. But, even as she struggled to get to the entrance, she was enthralled by how beautiful the setting is here. Why does anyone dine inside? The view is serene as the boats slowly slip past. There was a gentle breeze that made us think it wouldn't be so bad if they took their time making the meal. And then, the food arrived. It seemed like we had barely placed the order! Incredibly, everything seemed freshly made. Did we just lose track of time looking at the maritime activity? No...it was maybe 10 minutes from when we placed the order. The fried cod was nicely crispy, with a light taste to the fish, and not the least bit greasy. The accompanying coleslaw was likewise lightly dressed...you could actually taste the vegetables. The burger had a nice beefy taste. My son got "dirty fries", which were a bit like nachos (beans, cheese sauce, sour cream). Get an extra napkin. The poke bowl was huge. The tuna tasted good, but it was cut in 1/4" chunks...a bit small when you're trying to use chopsticks. It just took longer to pick up with chopsticks. But, the seasoning was good. With the perfectly arranged vegetables and bed of rice underneath, this is still a winner. I ate every scrap. The prices were reasonable, and as I mentioned, the service was very fast. I highly recommend this place, but accessibility is an issue.

Let's be honest, the location gives this place all the stars. There really aren't many things better in life than sitting out on a patio on a nice sunny day with company you enjoy sharing a bite and creating memories. As can be expected, any sunny day tends to draw crowds out to the seawall so this place was no exception. Service was acceptable but it is quite the frantic/chaotic vibe. I can imagine people who don't do well with waiting to become agitated. Came for a light snack. I wouldn't say anything was extraordinary but there is fare to be had to satiate the hunger. Seafood Chowder - this was underwhelming moreso because I think the volume of "seafood" to your potato was lacking. Perhaps I just got the bad ladle. However, the croutons they used were great. Stayed crispy til the end of the bowl. Ahi Tuna Tacos - I think the heat aspect was overdone with this one with the spicy sauce and peppers. Thought less could have been more as the Ahi Tuna was just masked under the sauce. Many people were having burgers & beers. We didn't try this but maybe next time.

We had a wonderful meal here on their heated patio on a cold, rainy day. My wife and I split their barbecue bacon cheeseburger and a seafood club. Both were well-executed. The fries were crisp, and the salad was a cut above. We were very pleased with the food. Our server was wonderfully friendly and helpful in making some recommendations. We were well cared for. We found free parking in the neighborhood nearby -- not essential but always a plus. Bottom line: We would gladly eat here again. The service and overall experience were excellent.

Conveniently located by the false creek seawall under Burrard bridge (though not so convenient right now due to construction), it is the perfect place for brunch after a bike ride or a run. Lots of seatings inside and outside - they have a nice patio area overlooking the water, a gorgeous view. I got the mushroom eggs benny and also tried the lox (smoked salmon) and cream cheese benny. Both were delicious, but I especially enjoyed the mushroom eggs benny, and would definitely order again! I was also super impressed with the tater tots, which tasted so crispy and fresh. I've never had such good "potato" portion of this dish for me to chomp it all down. I was able to lock my bike outside, and keep an eye on it too. I could eat in comfort :)

First time visiting, what an amazing patio! We ordered the Calamari and Seafood Papardelle Taste 1/1* OMG was it ever the best calamari ever! No jokes, a must try!! The okra, cucumber, fried chickpeas and fresh squid going with that delicious sauce!? (Best okra we've had to date too) The mussels on the seafood Papardelle were the size of a clam... Value 1/1* Although the appy & pasta w tip ended up just under $50, tad expensive, the quality of food and view of the water made it worthwhile Service 0.5/1* Asked my pregnant wife to go around as opposed to opening the patio door, then locking us out of the restaurant even though there were still unpaid customers on patio Cleanliness 1/1* No complaints Overall/Revisit 1/1* Hell yes, JUST for the calamari! Paying for ambience? YES, for the beachfront view Above and beyond? 0/+1* Side note -1/-1* This place is like a bare minimum of 'dog friendly', cause even though dogs are allowed on patio, you have to walk around the outside of patio AND dogs are only allowed under the table, felt more like 'dog tolerated'

Decided to stop by and try this place for brunch. Let's start with the service. Right from the start the host greeted us with an amazingly welcoming energy and she happened to also serve our table, and did a brilliant job. I love Egg Bennies for breakfast and naturally decided on the Lox and Cream Cheese Benny. I asked for it to be prepared a certain way and that's exactly how it came. What really impressed me was the lox was fresh....yes! fresh! Rarely have I seen fresh lox used in breakfast items, and it was amazing. Makes such a huge difference. The Hollandaise was made beautifully different than the traditional. It had a hint of dijon with a cream base and sprinkles of spring onion. Honestly, this might sound cheesy, but the benny was put together like someone was painting their own little canvas. Every single ingredient was very delicately and carefully calculated and integrated with the rest. It had all my favourites: lox, cream cheese, red onion and spring onion, as well as capers. It tasted absolutely amazing! Even the tater tots were fresh. What else impressed me was the vibe, style and class of the place. It didn't feel like you were eating at a restaurant. It felt more like you were at someone's home who invited you to sit, enjoy their view while they make you something to eat. I loved that it was very non-commercial and very much personal. The extra effort, attention to detail and care you saw and felt constantly. Their coffee was also very good, served very tastefully. Looking forward to going back!

Hands-down, Flora's service was the highlight of eating at this restaurant with a lovely view of the marina! We had a pretty good seafood pasta dish, awesome ahi tacos, some wings, fries, chips & guac. Tiramisu cheesecake dessert was delicious, and our only small complaint was missing a garnish on top.

Excellent bar and grill located in a very privileged spot underneath Burrard Bridge with a beautiful view. The service offered by Brittany was so courteous and fast . The place follows closely and strictly the protocol of social distance and sanitization. We had delicious Caesars , salt and pepper chicken wings and roasted hummus. We spent a lovely time, with delicious drinks and yummy appies. Was our first time , but of course not the last .

With prices to travel anywhere still outrageous, playing a tourist in your own city can still be fun. I have discovered many places that I've never been or dismissed as touristy and discovered some gems. This was formerly the Pirate Pub, then a Tap and Barrel/Tap Shack. Now "reborn" again and was pleasantly surprised. Still has the great view looking over Granville Island. Brunch offered on weekends until 2 pm I believe and the offerings are solid. Decent craft beer list and a few sparkling options including reasonably priced champagne (by bottle). Service was great despite being fairly busy and possibly a bit short staffed. Chicken and waffles on point! Real waffles Real maple syrup included with no upcharge Crispy chicken Real fruit Unlike so many places, despite rising food costs, someone here really cares about and knows food based on this experience. Side of tater tots was hot - not home made but good. There were also some lunch classics on the menu, will definitely be back - it's a fairly short walk from either the false creek ferry or aqua bus from Granville Island. I appreciate the staff asking the one patron to put a shirt on. Yes it's west coast and we are by the water but I personally don't need bare feet and chest as part of my vista! You're not at a German opera!

We ordered the Dark Spell Latte, Albedo Spritz, and Final Word. The Dark Spell Latte is like an espresso martini with chocolate syrup added, which is pretty solid. The Albedo Spritz is a red wine cocktail with hard liquor, and stood out to me as they had 5oz of alcohol so this was fairly strong, but I would imagine most of the ounces came from the wine itself. I liked the gold dusted blackberry. The Final Word is fruity and smoky, which I enjoyed, but not warrant a hefty price tag compared to the other drinks. Service is decent and in line with other restaurant bars. Overall, solid drinks at okay prices that I can see myself recommending this spot. Their "brunch burger" is a major missed opportunity though... this really should have a fried egg on it. You could possibly add an egg from the ala carte section of the menu, but those cost $3, so you'd be looking at $27 for a burger and a half a cup of fried potatoes. That's insanely expensive. Currently the brunch burger has two small patties which have a tendency to overcook and become dry. My patties were well-done despite me asking for medium - don't even ask if the kitchen can't deliver. Not sure what makes that a brunch burger, but it would be much better if those two patties were combined into one, and a fried egg was added, while staying below a $24 price point expensive burgers in Vancouver. Other restaurants can do it.... Oh, the other disappointing thing is that the card reader defaults to tips at 18, 25, and 28%. Not cool - we already pay servers high wages in BC, tipping should be 10% if not eliminated altogether. 28%? No thanks!

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. Truffle fries were indulgent and perfectly crisp, though the garlic aioli was milder than I prefer -- almost like straight mayo without a punch. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.

Sadly after visiting the rooftop twice for happy hour and once for dinner with an announced significant birthday number shared, and two breakfast's a three is all we can muster. It should be so much more, but the food lets down the entire experience. Our service was good, with delightful people helping our experience. That said service is slow, with details that should be spot on, not even evident. Water glasses left empty forever, promises made, not even brought up again. When the reservation was made a question was asked of an event for the dinner out. A 60th birthday was mentioned, acknowledged, and when sat by our server and nothing further. To be fair K would rather it all go by unannounced, but when it's all over the paperwork a small recognition should be there. The space itself, is not on a rooftop at all, but it's a beautiful high ceilings restaurant that deserves a far better kitchen. Our price fixe menu for two at $155 or so was definitely not worth the price at all. The steak was uniformly medium when med rare was the ask. There was a tiny bit of medium rare at one end, but the vast majority was medium or more. The torch of the butter on the steak, looked good from afar prior to our serving, but right in front of you looks almost comical. Our breakfasts were average at best, again service was ok, but the food was not where it should be, in fact not even close. We'd ponder staying at the hotel again due to location, but we'd not eat here.
