I've been renting from Hertz for years due to business travel. This offsite (from airport) location is much cheaper because of all the airport taxes. It's also run by a very efficient and hardworking GM (Olivia). My Lyft driver warned me when dropping me off that "good luck" with this Hertz store, it has a terrible reputation. I am sad to report she was completely right. The manager of this store, Autrey, made my experience the worst I have ever experienced in 30 years of renting with Hertz. RUN, don't walk, the other way! Worst people to work with.. Got a vehicle with them through insurance. Keith is a grade A you know the word. Not even sure how he's the manager? They had an issue with insurance and he put an unauthorized payment on my account without even informing me or giving me a chance to call and speak to the insurance company myself. I will be reaching out to corporate and filing a complaint, the disrespect from him and attitude is disgusting when I called trying to figure out why I had even been charged for it almost a MOTNH later with no notice or approval for the charge - which is the second time I had an unauthorized charge from them because he doesn't want to do his job or pass it on to the appropriate department to handle. read more

My experience with this store was a nightmare. It was such an awful experience, I canceled my reservation and went through Enterprise. I was advised by staff that I was on some "do not rent" to list. We contacted Hertz via the telephone and they advised the store that I was NOT on a "do not rent" list. The management eventually came into the store and I was excited that management could surely fix this nonissue, considering I was not on the list. He then proceeded to tell me my credit card was flagged and I needed to call Hertz back. So, I called them back and was advised my credit card was not flagged and there is no issue with Hertz and that I can rent the car. The manager was rude and inconsiderate and said he could not help me. So, two hours later, I am made to believe I am on some list, which I was not, and something was wrong with my credit card, which there was not, and I did not have a rental car. I left there feeling deflated and like a criminal. It was a horrible and long experience. GO TO ENTERPRISE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. read more

Yesterday my 8 year old and I were rear ended. Bad enough that the car that hit us was totaled and we feel very fortunate not to be hospitalized. Based on the claim my insurance set me up with Hertz. I called the number they provided. I spoke with and waited on hold for a while with someone who said they would set up the rental and it'd be ready by tomorrow morning. I commented about how easy that was to the rep. Then 20 minutes later I get a call from Bryan Lee.. get this.. he is the manager... and he says, "so, you need to set up a car for next week?" I said, no, for tomorrow or the next day. Anyway-- he went straight into how it would cost me money as my insurance won't cover everything as the last rep stated. Bryan Lee was unprofessional, rude, NOT customer oriented, and certainly didn't give a hoot about the trauma we just suffered. My baby (8 years old) was in the car and super stressed about this and this guy keeps delighting in telling me all the fees I'd pay. WTH? Empathy, Mr.Lee would serve you well. Okay and get this people-- you can't make this stuff up... the fees in total would be less then ten dollars. Why wouldn't any rational human being try to calm down a traumatized, scared mom instead of delighting and relishing in all the fees I will be charged. I was upset, tearing up and he then said, "I will transfer you to Montgomery office so they can deal with you." He could have said, hey, I'm so sorry but there will be a bit less then ten dollars in fees, but all he kept telling me was that there would be fees (while on the call he made me so anxious I didn't realize he was terrorizing me over less then 10$--- )what a really sad man to do that!!! and of course he seemed gleeful when he told me that he couldn't do anything about it. Maybe just have compassion and care about the other human on the line.. not always about money... find your heart man. I will be requesting the company listen to the call and I will be putting this on google, Facebook and everywhere I can find. This is not how victims should be treated... just canceled my drs appt for this accident because I won't have a car due to this incompetence! read more

Last weekend my best friend and I rented a car for her birthday trip to Nashville. We had budgeted out for this trip as we are college students. We prepaid for the car over the internet with a Visa Debit card. The website accepted our payment and told us the car would be available for pick up, we would just need to show the card we used for purchase. When we went into the shop they had over booked cars and didn't have a car for the guy in front of us. We went to pick ours up and he asked for a major credit card, we're in college, we don't have credit cards. He told us we would be unable to take the car without a major credit card on file, even though we had booked the car and already paid online. He was rude and threw a pamphlet on the counter with a number to call to cancel our rental. We had budgeted money for gas in this car that would be saving gas (the entire reason we rented it) but instead spend $200 in gas in our own car and did not receive an immediate refund from the company, putting us out over $150. I will never again rent from Hertz and I am furious this happened and put a huge dent into our weekend plans. ALSO the cherry on top, employees were smoking in the cars as they were moving them around in the lot. read more

They charged me for gas, when I returned the car with a full tank. I have called three times, this morning "Martin" told me I would have a call back by noon. I have two hours before I call them again. This is ridiculous. It takes them 20 seconds to charge me but two weeks to give it back? This business takes your money regardless if you use their services ( if you want to call them that) or not. They require a credit card from a real walk up bank. They wouldn't accept mine from internet banks. Then I was going to have my Mom rent it and they said it would be an extra 13 dollars a day to have me as an authorized driver. Can you believe the audacity to refuse to serve you and still charge you the full amount. They are THIEVES!!I will walk before I would even consider going here again. We have been here for 30 minutes and 5 people working nobody has acknowledged us and it stinks in here I am late for work! I want to add to this I blame Expedia also, they are the one my son booked this through with the best "price" told him that he could use a Debit and that they hold a deposit! He was fine with that they took his money right away and he thought he was set! This is an important trip for his daughter out of town, to find out they told him at Hertz he needed a credit card with the debit‍what and that they need to run a credit check what! Then he finally after an 1.5 hours of their BS said he just wanted his money released Expedia said 7days Thank God for Enterprise no hassle, $200 deposit took debit no credit check no credit card no dam problem & no Expedia and it was not any more expensive! I recommend trying absolutely any other option than renting from this Hertz. While all Hertz locations I have seen were poorly lit, outdated, and creepy to say the least, this location is even more poorly lit, outdated, and creepy. I recommend trying that app that is supposed to be like Airbnb for cars. I will now tell you why this company needs to go out of business. They treated my father, myself, and my husband like garbage- worse, really. They are clearly not trying to keep customers, as they were not interested in providing any customer service. In fact, the staff seems determined to upset and insult customers, as I witnessed other transactions. I also noticed a staff member behave in a racist manner towards her coworker who was wearing a hijab. When I tried consulting the manager, he told me that the staff member's behavior was between her and me. He told me he "wasn't really involved" despite the fact I obviously tried to get him involved. Essentially, try any other option, even if it means Lyft or Uber, before renting from this place. Hopefully they will all lose their jobs soon! read more

This is the worst company to rent anything from even there managers won't help at the 1800# they give you, their notice they give you for a issue is days before you have to leave on VACATION. So they will try and in trap you to go with more than you want. read more

Do not rent from this location! Our horrible experience with them was over a year ago but we still talk about how bad it was and I am finally getting around to giving a review. We were scheduled to pick up a minivan for our Florida vacation and less than an hour before pickup time I received a call from the manager stating that minivans had been overbooked and they were bringing a van from another location and it would be about an hour late. I wasn't happy but not too upset because he said he would apply a generous discount. Well, upon arriving a hour after original pickup time the van was still not ready! They were "cleaning and washing it" so I sat in the nasty waiting area for another 30 minutes until it was ready. Once it was ready, and I entered the vehicle, I was appalled. The vehicle was run down, had a cigarette burn in the drivers seat, pet hair throughout the vehicle and the passenger side sliding door was malfunctioning so you had to manually shut it. I had no choice but to take possession of the nasty van so that I could get to my destination in time. It was not an enjoyable 12 hour drive to Florida and back. You can certainly save a few bucks from renting here as opposed to the airport locations but it is not worth it!! I would have gladly paid extra to have a clean, properly functioning vehicle. read more

Okay, so first off, this location is small. That is the worst of it. I have used them multiple times and always had the best customer service. Their service is why I won't go anywhere else now. They helped us when we had both cars in the shop, when going on vacation, and even hooked us up on gas through their prepay service. I was looking up the hours so I could call them next week when I saw the other review. That's when I knew I had to speak up. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. This was my first time using a car rental offsite from the airport. This was a fraction of the cost and the service (Brian Lee) was thorough, courteous and the car was clean inside and out and in great working condition. Drop off was as easy as leaving the keys in the box along with my contract as they weren't open on Sunday. Two thumbs up and I will use this car rental again. read more

This place is a joke. I had a 12:00 appointment to pick up a car and when I showed up there was a sign on the door saying they would be back at 12:30. The parking lot was a solid sheet of ice. The location was dirty and unorganized. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is the worst place imaginable. The manager there is a complete idiot. They picked me up 2:45 late. That's 165 minutes late. It caused me to miss my VA Appointment. I had to drive back to the Cincinnati VA again, which is two hours away, to make that appointment up. When I tried to complain, their corporate office said I couldn't until their local office closed the ticket. They don't close the ticket until they pick up their rental car. I left their rental car at the body shop on Monday. They didn't pick it up until Friday. I had to wait nine days to make a complaint. I had to take off eight hours of work to drive to Cincinnati and go back to the VA. My truck only gets 15 MPG's. All in all, the VA cost me $335 ($42 in gas and the rest in wages). I call that office's district manager, JAMES DOMANSKI, and he promises me a gift certificate of $100 to recoup my costs. Mr. DOMANSKI said he would put it in the mail personally that day. Three weeks later (it doesn't take three weeks to mail something from Massachusetts to Kentucky), I get a $50 certificate from Mr. Domanski. I contact their Facebook page to complain about JAMES DOMANSKI's BLANTANT LIE and Hertz's Facebook service sent me a $75 certificate. So, $335 - $125 = $210 that I'm out because of the Hertz Erlanger's incompetence. Now, I try to use that certificate at the Hertz Lexington, KY - Nicholasville Road office and they put severe limitations on it. They said it couldn't be used to pay certain items and that I couldn't get change back from it. I COULDN'T GET CHANGE BACK FROM THE CERTIFICATES THEY GAVE TO REIMBURSE ME THE EXPENSES THEY CAUSED ME TO HAVE. THEY BASICALLY SCREWED ME OUT OF MY OWN MONEY!!!!!!!!!! DON'T EVER RENT FROM ANY OFFICE OF HERTZ. EVER!!!!!!! THERE IS NOT A SINGLE COMPETENT, HONEST PERSON IN THEIR ENTIRE ORGANIZATION. read more

this place sucked i called to make a reservation and was put on hold and was on hold for 15 min when i did go to pick up the car the place was chaos and took for ever to get a car on top of that when i needed emergency road side assistance it was a joke to would not recommend this location to no one. read more

This place is terrible. We had a 9:30 am appointment and when we arrived, there were five people ahead of us in line, three of whom had appointments for 9:00 and earlier. Two people showed up after us. By the time 10:00 rolled around, one person had their car and another was having theirs washed, and the fellow who was at the counter, Brian, was in the back washing cars and refusing to help anyone. One of the people ahead of us in line called Hertz customer service to complain, only to get routed to our current location, and ended up speaking with Brian. He was way beyond rude and condescending to her, telling her she needed to shut up and stop complaining and that they'd get to the rest of us when they could, before hanging up on her. We ended up calling our insurance and having them transfer our rental to Enterprise instead, and left immediately. We will never even entertain the thought of using Hertz again. read more
