I had been hearing about Hershey's restaurants and fabulous fried chicken for years and finally got the chance to try it (for carry out). I actually had to spend some time poring over the menu, trying to make up my mind. Everything looked good. But I had to focus on my target - fried chicken. I started my order with an order of Old Bay wings that were super-tasty and for the most part, moist. I'll have to try the Buffalo wings next. My main order was the white meat pac of two breasts and two wings. Lately, when I've splurged on fried chicken, I've leaned toward breast meat as a guide to how brained the chicken is. Hershey's is just perfect. Now I need a head-to-head comparison between Chicken Basket, Hershey's and Royal Farms. I think I already know that Hershey's will come out ahead. read more

Fried Chicken,The server was from another place, my wife ordered water, and she got sprite, my brother ordered an Arnold Palmer, and he got sweet tea. We ordered a pound of shrimp for an appetizer and it never arrived. I ordered three thighs and 30 minutes later I got two thighs and a leg and then the waitress proceeded to tell me I was wrong, but they didn't even offered what she brought me on the menu. Sunday Evening Review: I love "hole in the wall" places because they are casual but have amazing food. Food: We ordered a 4 piece chicken with a side salad, baked potato, and fries. The chicken was VERY salty (and this is coming from two people that loves salty foods) but crispy and not super oily. The saltiness made us unable to finish our chicken and there was nothing special about any of the sides. Customer Service: I don't expect great customer service at these places but I don't expect to be treated "differently." Our food came out after two couples that sat after us. One of the waiters (who seemed to also own the place) did mention to one of the couples that an unusually big (and unexpected) party came in, but that didn't stop us from feeling like this place is only for Caucasian's. Our waiter was nice but busy and somewhat ditzy. Ambiance: I liked the cozy home feel but did not like the million and one baby flies flying around... If you like fried chicken you can't go wrong at this restaurant. It takes about 25 minutes to get the fried chicken because they cook it to order, so if you are in a hurry order ahead. They also have delicious hush puppies and a full menu of other dishes, but I have never tried anything else because the chicken is sooo good. The fried chicken is 5 stars, but I can only give this restaurant a generous 3. The $10 up charge for carry out for a 12 pc family meal, the room temp side dishes (mashed potatoes w gravy and green beans) and lack of dinner rolls that were meant to be part of that meal brought this review down a star. In total, it was $47 for the meal, with a slice of pecan pie and a coke. Plus tip. (The sides are also too small for a meal that is supposed to serve 4 people). Another star gone because it was busy (karaoke night) and they weren't answering phones so I had to go in to put in the order. I entered the restaurant at 7:42 pm. Servers passed me several times- one server told me she'd get to me "in a minute" three times and walked past me at least seven times- before I stopped the bartender to put in my order. I finally got my food 45 min later, but at least the singing kept me entertained while I waited. Moral of the story: Dine in if you want the family chicken meal and go when it isn't crowded. read more

Great place to see live music, but make sure you get a table with a waitress. Otherwise, you'll have to deal with the surly bartender who spends most of his time talking to (and serving) his friends. First time here yesterday and i must say it's amazing! i came on Monday because that's when they have their fried chicken special. let me tell you i am a big fan of Popeyes, home cooked fried chicken etc, but Hershey's has got to be the ONLY place in town that has such delicious juicy meat (white meat at that) and crispy non greasy fried chicken! it's so delicious i can't get over it. my favorite sides are the baked potatoe, mac&cheese, and coleslaw. mmm i can't wait to go again to try their other sides. i definitely recommend this place. the service is slow but everyone is sweet and i forgot our waitresses name but she gave us extra mac&cheese at no cost because we loved it so much! definitely got a good tip. it's very modern and the bar area is nice. big TVs and comfortable seating. i believe on Wednesday and Saturday nights they have live music! anyway, go and try this place out you won't be disappointed! read more

Sid is looking to start trouble just to start trouble! I was there and there weren't even a hundred people there period, much less in the bar! All the chairs had been removed from the bar and a table blocks you entering the bar area. They set up any music outside and have a few tables spaced out in part of their parking lot. I have to actively lobby my wife to get her to go here. I like the menu, and the old Gaithersburg redneck vibe. We've been here many times over the years and we don't expect the waitresses to smile or be nice to us. But we still expect decent service and food. FAIL! The side salad was good but it came out before our appetizer. The wings were great. Big and flavorful. The meatloaf sandwich was bland. It was supposed to be served with baby rays sauce, as were my ribs. So they seemed to be misrepresenting the bbq sauce they use. The service was abysmal. No refills, no collection of dirty plates. Just disappointing for an $80 dinner for two. Also, i grt it that its hard for restaurants to keep staffed and we were servrd by the bartender- but really, everyplace else does much better. And I've traditionally liked the place. They had live music which was nice but over all, their give a shift factor seemed pretty low. It will be awhile before we return. read more

Interesting joint I must say. Very nestled out of the way place, certainly one you would never know exists in the current location. There's a bit of history here as it has been around for a bit, however, upon entering it doesn't quite feel like it as the inside just looks like any other kind of bar. It is essentially a roadhouse, much in the vein of Dietels but with less charm and nostalgia. Also like any good watering hole it has a cast of regulars and it's a very different vibe than other joints. Think more retired set, and hey I am old!! But the vibe is solid. Drinks are straightforward and relatively cheap. The bar tap list is pretty ordinary but once in awhile something at least interesting pops out than the usual InBev (Bud) stuff. If you probably have been reading reviews about this place you are more than aware that this place is about it's chicken. While I have never even heard of it, the menu certainly praises it, it sells it, and it makes it looks like there's nothing else worth having. So guess what.. I ordered the fried chicken. Luckily 2 sides are available, and there's a good choice between startch and veggies. Collards are solid, as is the mac n cheese, surprisingly the most impressive thing I had was thier french fries, which have this dark over brown quality and excellent taste and texture to them. As for the chicken.. it's very solid. Best I ever had? Not really, it's a step up above Popeyes essentially. It does have a good salt quality to it, but it comes out crisp and juicy. Very flavorful, I also like that it comes out just piping hot as well... be prepared to wait a bit. As for waiting, service here like the characters who inhabit the place, are also characters themselves. Staff is actually aloof but very hospitable and ridiculously nice and entertaining. They don't just do their job, they actually add personality to the place, and make you feel like you can have an honest conversation with them. The place has also a small stage for live music, it's slightly separate from the bar which is a good idea. You might find karaoke, open mic, or a small performer here so it's not a bad place to hear some live tunes. Just make sure you watch it from the non bar side as the bar area can get a bit loud with the patrons. Simply an ok joint, if music is your thing, or if you know someone who might show up on the tiny stage it's worth a first trip. read more

I go in and it could be 1987 and there are people dancing to what sounds like a cover of Twisted Sister! I sit down and order a pork chop and I drink a beer. While I do enjoy the food, the service is seriously lacking. It almost makes me wonder if it is worth coming at all. The servers come out the kitchen eating or sit down with other customers at their table and play Keno with them. It's just very unprofessional. We had the fried okra and onions rings as an appetizer and it was very good and the sauce that came with it was excellent. I had the chicken cordon bleu sandwich and it was good but the chicken was over cooked and burnt on the outside. I came here for dinner. I ordered the red hot chicken dip. It's a cheese base dip with chunks of chicken. It wasn't spicy which was a let down but it was good. After eating it I was stuffed. I just got totally ignored at this restaurant. I walk in to order food to go. I was told to go to the bar and Brandon would help me. I sat at the bar for over 10 mins. Finally I see the bartender, he's drinking water and talking to some customers at the bar. He never even approached me or asked if I needed something. I finally said, I need a menu to order. He said, oh ok I'll get you one. He walks off and comes back to the bar. He puts the menu down behind him at the back bar and proceeds to start talking to the customers again. At this point I'm totally staring him down. He never looks over and realized that I'm looking at him for the menu. He's still chomping away. I just walked out pissed! This was the horrible customer service! They have great food but I will no longer be giving this place my business! read more

The atmosphere has a very mom and pop kind of vibe and the customer service is quite good. Our waitress was very attentive. We had the chicken and waffles which was great, the mashed potatoes unfortunately were not made right or flavorful but the greens make a great side. A GREAT meal. I had fried chicken with hush puppies, baked potato and biscuits. Yes a heart attack of carbs. But oh so worth it. I am always on a mission to find great hush puppies. These were small wonderful morsels. So very very good. The chicken was cooked right then and delicious. Thank goodness my wife did not want a biscuit since I was not sharing they were so good. My wife had breakfast. Eggs, bacon and grits with French toast. The eggs just looked like regular eggs but she commented how fresh and tasty they were. The bacon was thick and cooked well. Went on Sunday 11/28 for lunch. We were told by two of the wait staff to sit where we want. However, the only eight tables available were covered in dirty dishes and had not been bussed yet. They only had two waitresses one for the bar area and one for the restaurant area. We stood by a table with dirty dishes for 10 minutes before the waitress in the bar area cleaned it off. However, we were surrounded by tables filled with dirty dishes and leftover food from previous customers. The smell of the leftover food was horrible and ruined my appetite. We sat at the table with no mats, silverware, or napkins for 20 minutes. The waitress in that area walked by us several times without acknowledging us. After 30 minutes of waiting to place our order, we finally left hungry and pissed off. The customer service gets an "F". I realize they were short-staffed but not my problem. The waitress working the bar area could have helped in the restaurant area as most times I noticed her just standing around while the waitress in the restaurant area was overloaded. I don't know if I will ever be back as this is not the first time this has happened to us at Hershey's and we are regular customers. read more

My family will NOT be returning here ever again. We phone ordered chicken platters for lunch. I was greeted on the phone with an "oh, Lord" after requesting carryout. I'm pretty sure that's not standard business etiquette, correct me if I'm wrong. I then received the usual 30 min. cooking time for chicken, as usual for this sluggish establishment. We arrived 30 min. later on the dot, as we only live down the street, and are told it's still not ready yet. Also, the weekly specials that they have had for a while have suddenly been changed, due to the 'economy'. Or more likely due to declining patronage. The chicken platters are only buy one get one half off, instead of half off per platter as previously, and is dine-in only. When asked if we could get them dine-in, the sole waitress refused. We were then told it would take ANOTHER 30 min. Are you kidding me?! By now it was already 15 min. past the timeframe and they wanted us to wait longer? No freaking way. So, we said to forget it and headed out the door. Then, she has to nerve to call *me* rude for leaving?! She proceeds to follow me to the door and says, "please don't come back here again." As if I'd ever return to this dump again. No one could pay me enough. And like the condescending "please" was even remotely genuine. Seriously, what is wrong with this staff?! We're actually supposed to be neighbors, and yet this is how they treat their neighbors that aren't regulars, which are mostly middle-aged to elderly caucasians? Dare I say, there's a fair bit of racism going on here. I would rate this 0 stars if I could. I've been used to the subpar service here in the past, but this was beyond abysmal. Please, DO NOT go here. If you're not a regular, you will be treated like yesterday's garbage. Hopefully, this will shut down along with all of the other, longtime Gaithersburg establishments that have not progressed with the times.
