He's got a great design sense and the skills needed to move through an entire job. He knows what his team knows how to do and when you need a specialist. Then, he coordinates beautifully with them. Transparent pricing, timing, and progress. Warm, respectful collaboration. Totally focused on my vision and attention to my budget. Honest when I may have been off base in my thinking, but never arrogant. They are completing two simultaneous home rehabs for me. One came down to the studs and is getting rebuilt, better. The other has tenants. The team works both around and with them to create a safe home for their families. Details I wouldnt think M fox like tamper resistant outlets everywhere and hard wiring the detectors so they won't lose power. 10/27/21- (Schenectady) we hired Cousins Restoration on 7/9/21 to repair and replace our porch…read moreroof/balcony trim and our front sidewalk and stairs. The contract was signed, deposit of $5,000 provided, and work was scheduled for the week of 8/12. The work ended up being delayed until 9/20 (understandable but we were concerned about the unresponsiveness of the owner, Ryan Van Brocklen). On 9/20, no one showed up, and after texting Ryan we were told that some of the materials were damaged and that they would now be starting next week. We tried to contact Ryan many times to discuss but no response. We did not receive a response until 9/30, and we were told that work would now start 10/1 (no one showed up again). Eventually, two workers were sent on 10/7. They worked on site for 5 days, and completed demolishing the sidewalk/stairs and preparing a frame for the cement pour on 10/15. We were told by Ryan that the cement pour would take place on 10/20, but (again) no one showed up that day. When we tried to contact him, we again received no response and his workers had also been unable to reach him. To date, we have heard nothing from Ryan and have had to terminate our contract and hire someone else to do the necessary work on our house. Our sidewalk and stairs remain unfinished and our front yard is a disaster. We ended up having to hire a new contractor to finish the work and it turns out that the work done by Ryan and his crew was done improperly and will need to be redone, at twice the cost. We have asked for a refund of our $5,000 deposit since only about 15% of the work was completed, the work was done improperly, and we are left in an emergency situation with no sidewalk or stairs (right before winter) with no response from the owner. Do yourself a favor and don't hire Cousins Restoration- you'll regret it (we certainly do!).

I wanted to improve my home, adding to its value, like I have since I've owned it, now going on 37 years. So, I wanted to replace the old front and rear porch roofs. I called around and eventually contracted with TRI CITY ROOFING in Schenectady. Bad choice. TRI CITY ROOFING, Schenectady= BAD ROOFING COMPANY. The roofing material, EDPM, is a heavy, kind've 'rubberized' material that is applied to a new wood substrate on a low-slope roof. It's supposed to be applied and completely adhered to the wood substrate. There are a great number of large spots where it's not adhered. This is not good and will reduce the life of the roof. The manner in which TRI CITY ROOFING treated the trim was childlike, not workmanlike or professional. TRI CITY ROOFING, Schenectady = BAD ROOFING COMPANY. I wrote to Justin Coriale, the VP with whom I'd contracted for the work, the day after the roof was completed. I let him know that there were a couple of things that I thought he needed to look at and potentially repair. When he came, he initially lied to me and said that those bubbles would off-gas and disappear, which at the time I knew was nonsense. But he said he was open to making a repair. TRI CITY ROOFING Schenectady = BAD ROOFING COMPANY. He really never responded again with a practical offer to repair the really bad roofing job. I was patient and wrote a couple of times asking for a written proposal of how he proposed to make the repairs and he never got back to me. Eventually I called the company again, seeking to speak to the president of the company, but Justin Coriale got back to me again, returning the call to the office not aware that it was me, by telephone and the conversation ended with him slamming the phone down saying I'm not getting anything from him.
