I admit upfront that I might not be the typical customer who goes to 84 Lumber. I am not a…read morecontractor, nor am I a woodworker. However, I recently found myself looking for dimensional lumber (1x4) in the lengths of 10 and 12 feet. Home Depot and Lowe's do not typically carry wood this long, at least in pine (as opposed to exotic or hardwoods or composites) and in a quality grade (meaning, not cheap warped pine). I called here on a whim and they told me that they carried exactly what I was looking for. I drove over on a Saturday morning in the winter and went inside. They don't heat anything except the check-out area, and it was cold. But, they pointed out the area where I needed to look and helped me pick out some wood. It was about 50% more than the big box stores per foot, but the pine was warp and knot free and available in the lengths I needed. I purchased a bunch and they told me to drive my car into the building where they loaded it for me. It stuck out the back of my little Corolla but I made it home fine. Being a lumberyard, I doubt I will have much need to come here. However, they were helpful and priced right and carried what I needed (and couldn't find elsewhere). Just wear a coat!

We asked Backyard to modify the quote (into what would have been a much larger job) to fence the entire yard instead. They declined and were really odd about the request, to the point where we swung by their office to check on status. The owner refused to discuss the job further with us. They went from super communicative to non-responsive (and tbh, we felt uncomfortable with the owner's odd approach throughout). We wound up using another local company and had zero issues. Just a weird place to buy a fence.

When I got home from work and realized I had no power the company was closed so I left a message. The next day they never called me so I called them again. At that point Melissa was insistent that the foreman told me about hitting the wire which absolutely was NOT the case. If they told me I would have dealt with the issue immediately. The owner,Jerry, then responded to an email and took ZERP responsibility and just lied and lied but did ask for the estimate I got from electrician to fix the problem. He then said the estimate was excessive and offered to pay less than a quarter of the amount of the bill. He then continued to lie and blame me for the wire. I may have misunderstood when they told me they would handle the Dig safe stuff, but regardless what kind of person/ business hits a wire that cut off power (which they most definitely knew about) and instead of telling me they literally covered it up and lied about it. They are now offering no assistance with the electrician bill and instead just sending me nasty condescending messages after I just paid them $6500 for a fence. Additionally they left my lawn a mess and dug up a piece of my walkway for absolutely no reason which they refuse to even answer when asked why they ruined my walkway. Backyard Fence is the WORST company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I see from other reviewers that their RUDE and NASTY demeanor is with other customer as is how they LIE to try to cover up problems and then blame the customer. Two days later and I am still without power and have to pay 1300 to get this electrical issue fixed.

They had been recommended through our main contract with Kitchen and Bath (kiba) Studios of Clifton Park. I'm reviewing Dream Builders & Remodeling separately because of how pleased we are with the outstanding work they performed. Owner John and his assistant demonstrated exceptional skills whether working with tiling, plumbing, or woodworking. Because we needed extensive electrical work to be done John arranged for a subcontractor to do that work. John made some suggestions early on in our project that not only addressed the aesthetics of a room but also improved its functioning. He and his assistant always arrived to work at the scheduled time and put in a full day's work. They made every effort to protect the areas they needed to pass through by using floor and stair coverings. They were very pleasant and courteous individuals who respected our home and did not blast radios or swear while working. We were so pleased with the quality of their work that during a period of downtime while we waited for a cabinet to replace one that had arrived damaged, we entered a direct contract with John to upgrade the trim around the windows of three bedrooms and to paint the walls and ceilings of those bedrooms. There is no doubt that we will be contacting John at Dream Builders & Remodeling again when we identify another project to be undertaken.

When an issue arose, we discussed the issue, and John always had viable solutions that solved the matter.
