Thornton's Propane

I am beyond impressed with Thornton's!!! I called in on Monday to setup as a new customer with them…read morefor home propane service. I let them know that our tank was empty and had run out a couple days ago. The gal on the phone wanted to make sure that we had propane ASAP to be able to run our furnace and appliances. She told me that they would send out a serviceman that day to put about 20 gallons of gas in the tank, do a safety inspection, and get everything safely turned on. I was instantly impressed that they would be able to do that on the same day. She also said that we would get delivery of propane to fill the tank within a few days. Oh! And she told me that as a new customer we would be getting a discount for our first delivery!! I was very satisfied with all of that and told her I would be available all day to receive her call for when to expect the serviceman. She called me a few hours later to let me know that the serviceman would not be available that day, so the owner himself was on his way to put some gas in the tank and get everything turned on. I was surprised and she said they didn't want us to go another day without gas for the furnace and appliances. Especially since it's been pretty chilly at night lately. The owner showed up within an hour and let us know that the serviceman has just called and would be available after all. So he went ahead and put the 20 gallons in but said he'd leave everything else so the serviceman could do the full inspection before turning everything on. He also said we would get our first delivery before Friday and assured that the 20 gallons would be more than enough to last us, with normal use. The serviceman arrived barely 10 minutes after the owner left and began his inspection. He then came inside to check if everything would turn on correctly. He was very nice and thorough and he had high praise for the company owner. That says a lot to me, when an employee has such positive things to say about the company and the owner of where he works. Today, Wednesday, just 2 days after I called to become a new customer, the truck arrived to fill up our tank! So, yes, I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED and SATISFIED with the service - starting with the initial phone call to inquire about their service through to the delivery. Other companies told me it would be 5-10 days before they could get a truck out to us. And on top of that, one company had a $99 inspection/setup fee. Thornton's DID NOT CHARGE A FEE to have the owner and serviceman come out! I was not expecting to need to change our home propane provider as we had been with the previous company for over 4 years. But I'm actually glad that I did some shopping around and found y'all!!! Thank you Thornton's!!!

Due to the changes with the office staff not being able to keep up with billing, I've asked numerous times in the past two weeks to have a supervisor call me to discuss this issue and still haven't received any response. Now I'm coming back from my trip out of town still with no answers and my propane is low and forcing me to look for alternative options for gas. Horrible Admin Staff

yeah, not great. My first time dealing with this company they're located Marysville Rd very close…read moreto my (new) home. I took over this property, Brown's gas owned the tank so naturally I called them. But before I could call them they showed up. Twice. once when we weren't home (the previous owner contacted me and told me via cell) and then the second time we were home the driver, randy, very nice guy and I spoke, he was told that we had not transferred service yet and he made it clear to me that he couldn't put any gas in the tank until I did that and of course I said yes I understand how commerce works I haven't had a chance to do this yet and you just showed up out of the blue. Again. I'm sure the previous owner told them that they sold the property when they showed up the last time and spoke to her. Lol. So I went to the Browns Gas office to open my account - it said they were closed for lunch on the fence, it wasn't lunchtime, it was 1030a. I came back 4 hours later around 2:30 PM and that sign was still up. This time I learned my lesson and called to make sure they were there. I came back the following Monday and when I mentioned that they said there just wasn't anyone there that day and fair enough I understand it's a rural company I guess. I opened an account and deposited money to get a delivery and was told they'd "let me know when that could be", roughly a few days later they let me know when they were coming and I asked what time frame and they said they couldn't give a time frame. I've run a service company for 30 years I found that amusing so I thought they must have meant they won't know until that day when they set up his delivery route so today is the day and I called and I spoke with Sam in the office. She assured me that she could not tell me any time frame when the driver would arrive and when I said that sounds odd, never heard of that, she seemed pretty indignant explaining to me that the driver is operating a vehicle filled with explosive gas and that because of this very reason they cannot offer a time frame to which I of course replied doen't that argue against not knowing where your driver is? in fact you should have a precise schedule for a driver that you're turning loose with a gigantic 20 ton bomb, you should know exactly where they are at all times or at the very least within a 2-3 hour time window. She remained indignant clearly regarding my comment as out of line. So here I sit with dogs put away, m gate open and unable to leave all day long because a service company cannot figure out a delivery schedule the day of - I've had other propane companies, this has never been a problem, no one else does this as far as I know. also it is weird to me that the last Yelp review here is 2 years ago. I get yelp reviews every week and my business is not large. If people aren't writing positive reviews you're doing something wrong And if you've been in business as long as they have and you only have a handful of reviews at all you're really doing something wrong and judging by their overall rating on Yelp I'd say that's confirmation. I don't think they realize we have choices up here.

They were friendly and professional, and were competitively priced (we really shopped around). They didn't try to sell us their propane, but told us to check around and that they'd be competitive. When the time came to refill that tank, we saw an internet ad from Amerigas and like idiots, bit into it by calling them. They scheduled a "free leak down test" and a fill offered at half price, but they only sent a tech out to do the leakdown test (who claimed to find a leak and red tagged our downstairs unit!) and when we asked if they were still planning on filling our tank for the advertised price, the tech told us we had "enough gas" at 40%. They apparently had NO intentions of honoring that advertised price. So we called ACE. John from ACE came out - same day and at NO CHARGE - and after a lengthy and thorough inspection, took care of our problem and then offered to fill the tank for about half price!!! They will be out tomorrow and every time thereafter. Excellent customer service!! 5 Stars doesn't express how rare and amazing our experience with ACE has been!
