Herb's has great live music if you enjoy seeing live bands. Drinks are reasonably priced, but be warned - Herb's can get really busy. If you go there after a Rockies game or another Downtown event, expect busy bartenders and very few wait staff. The place has old decor and seats, I don't think it's been updated since the 70s, but the atmosphere is pretty cool. It's not usually a super young crowd at Herbs, but I think that depends on the band playing. Their back patio is a smoking area that sits in the alley flanked by a parking lot. It's still nice to be able to sit outside and if the front door is busy, you can come in through the back door/gate. All and all, I dig the place. It's like a historic location in LoDo and has been around as long as I can remember. Parking is readily available at several near by lots. No food, but a great place to grab a cocktail and meet friends. read more

Alright, in lieu of recent findings, I am keeping this short and to the point. Great, laid back crowd and no just b/c they are laid back doesn't mean unattractive...lots of lookers here. lots of great live bands which go perfectly with the dingy digs. Never eaten here, not sure if I would want to, hell I don't even know if they serve food, but as far as a locals bar hang out this place is top notch. My wife and I have been coming here for years! Great venue, great crowd, but most of all, if you get the pleasure of being served a drink by Robbie the bartender/owner, you will see why we keep coming back! He always greets you with a handshake and a smile. If you become a regular, he will have your drink at the bar ready to go before you even sit down! He makes you feel welcome and makes sure your night is off to a good start! If that's not enough, they always have great live music to get the blood stirring! This is my favorite bar and Denver. There is always a great mixed crowd and the bartenders are top notch, especially when they get slammed later at night. And they get super busy. Like 5 or 6 deep after 10pm. They keep smiling and can sling some drinks. All in all great place full of great people. read more

I have had the pleasure of ending a few evenings at Herb's, one of the hidden gems on its block of Larimer Street. The people here tend to be much more mixed in age and make a better crowd than most of Herb's "I am barely legal and am fall down drunk" neighbor bars- especially after a Friday night Rockies game. They always have live music and often have fantastic cover bands that play lots of dance and singalong friendly songs. And if all of that isn't enough, they sell PBR tall boys for $5. Herb had this girl on the dance floor all night! I want some more. The band was kicking and the crowd was awesome (a bar fight by the front door never hurt anyone, right? It was contained and handled quickly). The bartenders could be friendlier but, let's get real, most bartenders could be friendlier so I'm not holding on to that one too tight. read more

Herb's is one of my favorite bars in Denver. The guy Andrew that works the door is always really friendly, as well as the people working at the bar. There is live music every night, and when it's warm out they grill on the patio out back. As a side-note, you can't beat their $3 long island. read more

Bartender with the slicked back brown hair tries to replace liquor with water in the drinks he makes and be sneaky. Gin and tonic=water and tonic. Saw it multiple times after mine unless their bar gun squirts liquor. Took my drink after I said something, no new one as he 'already put a shot in it.' Herb's is the classic Denver live music venue. Its owned and operated by the infamous (kidding) and always delightful Laura Newman, who has been a heavy hitter in the Denver live music scene for a few years now. She currently heads up (by way of her magic sax) the legendary band Alive on Arrival, and they are one of the numerous kick ass bands that frequent the place. Seriously, if you like live, small venue talent, Herb's is not to be missed. The atmosphere is one that couldn't be replicated for a million dollars. Its an almost dizzying blend of music venue, "townie" bar, and, well, hominess. The stage is huge, and a lot of the seating is arranged to best compliment it. That doesn't mean that you can't find a little spot of your own off to the side, though. The back patio is awesome, and they do cool things like project movies onto the side of the building, host pig roasts, etc. The staff is EXTREMELY creative with the events that they hold. The prices are great, the people are fun and even the stray drunk just seems to add to the atmosphere. Denver would be less of a place without Herb's. read more

The vibe at Herbs is very chill. It has a nice blend of different bands that play frequently at the bar. Very convenient to pregame right before a baseball game. The owners are amazing people. I had different ideas of what Herb's was prior to going last weekend and I really enjoyed myself. I felt like I was in a college party and that's not a complaint. I am a fan of the Wednesday night jam with Eugene Carthen Jr. and crew. Every time I've sat in I've gotten to play with some great players not the least of which is the awesome house bassist Kim Stone (formerly of the Rippingtons and Spiro Gyra) and house drummer Marion Edwards as well as Eugene himself. Good times and sometimes great music combined with cheap drinks. Yep, that works for me. read more

Herb's is one of my favorite places downtown. The music can't be beat, the crowd is non pretentious fun, and the drinks are perfectly priced. Dance like no one's watching should be written on the wall in cursive, swirly font because truly no one cares and no one is watching. Great venue, but mostly writing this review for how rudely I was treated over the phone by one of your staff, Kate. If you work in hospitality, should probably learn some people skills. Also, had my phone stolen from the bar along with many other guests that evening per the staff report. It was from out of my purse directly next to me, so it was someone who knew what they were doing. Was once known as The Kit Kat Club! Back when the Rat Pack were around. This was where they would hangout. Herbs hideout is known for their wide range of martinis. My favorite is the lemon drop! And, the nightlife is a true experience! When I first ventured into Herbs. Was the first time I had ever heard Irish blues. But, unfortunately the long time piano player has passed away. He was the one who taught me the history of the club. And, I am sure he is missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. read more

Really fun vibe here, and lots of beers on tap or in a can/bottle. Their tab system is extremely effective, and you didn't see them scrambling, searching through cards every time you ordered another drink. Saw an awesome funk band with no cover charge. Since when does that happen in Denver?! But the best part of the evening was the cheese puffs at the bar. Kyra and Kate were so nice and what great bartenders! They were both attentive and full of stories! Herb's is always a good time whenever we venture in for drinks. I've been to Herbs about once a week, sometimes 3x for a long time. Too many grey goose sodas later.... The bartenders (Robbie, etc.) are some of the best in Denver, the bouncer dude (Andrew) on the weekends welcomes you like you're an old pal from elementary school and you usually run into people you haven't seen in a while at Herbs. It's like the Lost of bars. Ya, and the music (jazz mostly) is Chicago good. Herbs is one of a kind in Denver. Drinks were cheap, music was good, but it smelled like puke.

The last time I was at Herbs it smelled horrible, I don't know what the deal was but they should fix that. Overall its a pretty average bar that has cool bands come through to play. read more

This is a great place to get away from the LoDo scene as Perry said. It is a very good place just to go hang out and listen to some live music and everyone there is very cool and laid back.
