I really enjoyed this Irish Pub. Music wasn't playing but the bartender offered to play music if we wanted. She suggested beers, food, and mixed drinks. Also allowed me to try substitutions at no extra cost. Tonight there was Bruce's Famous Pizza available and it did not disappoint. We tried both the thin crust and Detroit Deep dish. Both pizzas were simple, delicious, and a great price. I think my husband and I found our go to bar!

Best Bar in Muncie Also!!! (ref clyde v's review...) -actually it was the only bar in Muncie that I went to but I believe it to be the best... -excellent craft brew selection here! They have Golden Draak. Also, I had the "Twelve Dogs of Christmas, Christmas Ale", I mean you gotta love that name. -its kind of a dive too, which I like. -great personable service / great recommendations -they were playing Pantera, which I don't mind either Go here.

I have such mixed feelings about the Heorot. Yes, their beer list is riduculous but I was really turned off by the customer service I experienced in my last visit. I went to the Heorot on Monday night before Christmas with 5 friends. The bartenders weren't particularly helpful or friendly but I was advised by a regular that it wasn't their "A team" on staff that night. Obviously, being from San Francisco, the prices were unbelievably cheap which was great. However, I've been to the Heorot before on a few occasions while in town visiting home and had a decent experience. It's good for large groups and super casual so it's a good place to get together with old home friends without running into every single person I know. Once, a bartender told me I was beautiful. I later learned that he is legally blind -_____- Here are some other things about the Heorot that may be of interest: - Beer list is riduclous as you'll read in the other reviews. Shocking that it's tucked away in little old Muncie, IN - They sell gift certificates $10 at a time (so if you buy $100, you have to get 10 separate ones) - They have "homemade" cookies - Animals are allowed in the bar - They have games (uno, scrabble, monopoly) to play at your tables - They sell cigars and cigarettes but don't have lighters or matches (weird...) - Indoor fireplace - Sell a decent sized pizza for $5 (this is the kind of pizza they sell 5 for $5 at Walmart, so don't expect much) - Decor is super kitschy - Extremely casual - They have a trivia night - Beer and mead only, no liquor

Boudin balls, Lindemans Framboise, and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. Some of our favorites!!

Bartender knew almost nothing about the beers I was asking about. Said, "I only drink IPAs." So you aren't a bartender, you just pour beer.

The bartender continued to carry on a conversation with other customers while I waited patiently to be recognized. He eventually came over and stood in front of me without speaking (warning sign number two). I requested a beer menu which he pointed out was on the wall. He kindly let me sample 2 beers. I requested a wine menu for my wife and he listed the varietals available. I inquired about the cost of the Pinot Grigio. He apparently had to go find the the manager and came back to tell me the price of the Sauvignon blanc. I politely pointed out that I wanted the price of the Pinot. He seemed visibly frustrated (as he looked like it was a burden for him to walk that much) and had to go find the manager again. He poured the beer and opened the bottle, throwing away the cork. I asked about the possibility of corking the leftover and he seemed to fish the cork out of the trash, pushing it back into the bottle without offering a wine glass (the third warning sign). I gave him my credit card and as he rang up the sale, I inquired about setting up a tab since he didn't offer to do so as most bartenders will. This was clearly too much for this poorly trained millennial and he again had to get assistance from the manager. Not being able to control himself, he muttered "I guess he's never been to a bar before" loud enough for me to hear, obviously upset that I did not request a tab before he rang in the sale. I asked him to repeat what he said. He of course had misplaced his cajones by then and denied saying anything. The manager, looking like Large Marge from Pee-wee's Big Adventure, naturally failed to try and resolve the situation and took back the drinks without giving my credit card back until asked. I sarcastically thanked them for their customer service and went to leave. Naturally, one of their few regulars had to throw in his 2 cents in and followed me outside. This little bald man with his pit bull said that "maybe the problem is you". I replied "maybe" and walked away with my wife. He followed behind making fun of my wife's gait (she limps from prior surgery for bone cancer) and threatening to push her over. As he was obviously all talk and no action, I ignored him as we walked over to the Canon Commons for the concert. Of course he also showed up there, but by then he also had misplaced his man parts and didn't approach us. So a word of warning to potential new visitors - DON'T.

That right there told me they don't mind being different in the style of food they serve! After checking over the menu full of wraps and burgers amongst a plethora of other bar food I ended up getting some wings to try and the house made chips. I got half my wings in the BBQ flavor and the other Buffalo. Being honest the wings weren't anything special but they did hit the spot and the BBQ sauce wasn't anything special to me on the wings but if it was used in some pulled pork or ribs I believe I would enjoy it more. The buffalo sauce was really good and had just enough heat to need the ranch here and there. The house made chips were good, not overly seasoned and not over cooked either. The place is small but has a handful of high top round tables and a few bigger square tables in the front with a decent bar strip with plenty of bottles and beers on tap. The pool table in the side room looked like a great area to hang around and play some pool while enjoying some beers with the company of friends. Next time I'm in town I will try one of their countless burger options!

How great can the food be, really? Um, pretty freaking great, actually. I got a fish sandwich, which was a long filet of battered and fried fish, served on an ultra-soft hoagie roll, with a little lettuce and tartar sauce inside. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, and flaky and soft on the inside. It's the type of thing that I didn't want to stop eating, because the combination of textures was just perfect. Handhelds are served with a side, and I chose the side Caesar salad. It was an OK Caesar, and it did its job to satisfy my CaeSal craving. It comes with red onions on top, which is a choice. The service here was great. The restaurant has a big bar in the middle, with TVs showing sports. The whole place is surrounded by windows, so you can see out into downtown Muncie.

There was no apology from the hostess and we let the waiting customers know unhappy we were with the service. No one should have to wait for 30 minutes for a beer at a brewery. We were totally ignored by your staff. We will not return.

Do not get me wrong, I love their commercials. But not every location is low performing based on my visit to the Muncie, IN store. The signage is excellent off of McGalliard Rd. There are a few entry ways into the lot. My lunch visit started with easy to find parking in Northwest Plaza and a debris free lot. Also the walk up was clear of trash. A friend and I were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. Not a big lunch crowd, but they had business. My table as well as the adjacent area was clean. Our friendly female waitress took drink orders and provided menus. My friend immediately decided on their special Bourbon burger, I chose the chicken sandwich. I slipped off to wash my hands and the restroom was spic and span with proper supplies. Both plates hit the table in around 20 minutes. Everything was correct and hot. My chicken sandwich with bacon was good, fries tasty. My friend loved his burger and raved! We did get a check in and refill on drinks. Our check was presented in a timely manner and cashed out quickly. Total time was around 50 minutes. That was perfect timing around a planned one hour lunch. I may have to give Applebee's a try again, but since I was out of town it will not be the Muncie location. This visit caught me off guard in a good way. I would recommend.
