Among the three of us, we ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was quite good, the Brisket Grilled Cheese with tater tots, a Pulled Pork sandwich with tater tots, and the Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak with fries and a Bloody Mary. The sandwiches were good, but not incredible in any way, and quite pricey for the portion sizes. The smoked brisket overall had a nice flavor. However, the fries were inedible, tough and burnt and tasted and looked like they had been fried twice after sitting for some time. They should have never been served. And while our server was pleasant and the atmosphere interesting, we won't return.

I'd only seen Ball State University's Emens Auditorium on one occasion, though a recent opportunity…read moreto attend a concert here in which a friend was performing finally gave me the chance to really check it out. The basics: Emens Auditorium is part of Ball State University and is named after Ball State's sixth president - John R. Emens. It was officially dedicated in 1964 after years of planning and no tax dollars were used for what was originally a $3 million facility and Ball State's first capital campaign. Emens originally had 3,581 seats. However, due to upgrades and various seat replacements (along with accessibility upgrades) this is currently reduced to 3,309. Over 1,000 seats are in the balcony alone. There's no question that Emens is considered a regional facility of choice. Performances have included President Ford, David Letterman, Stevie Wonder, Louis Armstrong, Victor Borge, Magician David Copperfield, comedian Adam Sandler, musical Cats, and Les Miserables, Red Skelton, B. B. King, The Temptations, Third Eye Blind, and the Dixie Chicks among many others. Accessible parking is typically located in the lot to the east of the Health Professionals Building off Riverside Avenue. There's also a shuttle available for those unable to walk the distance. There's also an option for patrons to be dropped off in the circle drive located at the main entrance of Emens. Emens does have an accessible elevator and offers accessible seating throughout the auditorium (I personally verified this as sometimes facilities will say this but it's not quite true). Ball State, for the record, has a well-earned reputation as one of Indiana's most accessible college campuses. They also offer swing-arm seating (wheelchair users will understand this) to help with transfers. Emens offers Infrared listening systems for those with hearing impairments and will arrange interpreters with at least two weeks notice (this is a fairly standard time frame, though I'll admit it doesn't thrill me). Emens has restroom facilities on each level and two single-user, generally considered accessible, on the main level. The sound in Emens is pretty close to phenomenal. The event I attended was a more classic era music event and I found sound quality to be pristine. While I didn't move around a whole lot, anywhere I went the sound quality didn't change. Ticket prices obviously vary per event. Generally, I find public tickets to be a notch below your market rate since this is a college campus. Prices for Ball State students are usually quite phenomenal and considering the quality of shows here that's a huge perk of being a student. The same is true for refreshments - I wouldn't expect this to be like your usual concert venue, but there are typically some options available (anything alcohol related is a bit rare but does happen; Ball State is a smoke-free campus). While Muncie isn't that far from Indie, the never-ending work on I-69 can make it a bit of a chore. Getting to Emens is a bit weird if you've never been here and I'd definitely plan some "Do I turn here?" time for the first visit. However, it's easily worth it. Muncie also has a decent hotel scene if you want to stay overnight (I recommend the Courtyard by Marriott which is owned by Arc of Indiana and actively trains and employs people with disabilities). The one thing I can't answer (and would like to as a creative myself) is how accessible the stage/backstage area is for performers with disabilities. I'm going to try to explore this in future visits. Now that I've finally had the chance to experience the fullness of Emens, there's simply no doubt I'll be back. In fact, I'm sitting here looking at the calendar now!

Doesn't the name Minnetrista make you think that you'll be visiting a place with puppets? Like…read moremarionettes, right? Well, I hate to disappoint you, but there are no puppets or marionettes here. But there is an exhibit dedicated to Ball jars. Fun fact: Minnetrista was created by the Ball family, who created Ball canning jars, which you can learn about here. They are also the "Ball" behind Ball State University, which is located in Muncie. I had no idea! You will learn interesting facts like these, and others about this area of Indiana, at Minnetrista. The main museum itself is a bit small, and part of it is conference and meeting rooms. But the museum is just one part of Minnetrista. This is actually a 40-acre campus with gardens and paved trails. As you stroll along the grounds, you'll come across some houses. Some of the houses are part of Minnetrista, and you are welcome to pop inside and check out what's going on. What's going on in one of them is an exhibit dedicated to Bob Ross, the painter. At the Bob Ross Experience, you can step inside the historic home where The Joy of Painting was filmed, and see some of the actual filming equipment and art supplies that were used to create the television show. It's sort of surreal that Bob was painting his happy little trees right here in humble Muncie. Some of the houses that you encounter are not a part of Minnetrista, but belong to IU Health or other entities. It's not really clearly marked on the houses which is which. I'm sure if you consulted a map, it might tell you! I consulted no such map, and I was just walking around blindly. I visited during the late fall, when it was cold and the gardens were dormant, for the most part. But I bet this place is amazing in the spring and summer, when everything is in bloom.

Minnetrista is an event center and museum that was built in 1988 by the five Ball brothers. The…read moremodern center is part of a complex of museums and gardens on the former Ball property that sits across from the White River in Muncie. There is an admission fee to visit the galleries of $15/adult and $12/child, but the ticket grants admission to the other museums and garden as well. During our visit, we saw the Narwhal exhibit, which is a small exhibit dedicated to narwhals. A curator greeted us at the entrance and was available to answer questions. My granddaughter is a narwhal fan enjoyed the interactive displays. We also visited a special children's exhibit called Good Night Forest. Again a curator welcomed us and invited us to build a backpack and enjoy the nighttime activities set up for the kids. My granddaughter loved the firer fly dance, wandering through the dark forest listening for animals and the shadow puppet show. There were fun and educational activities suitable for all ages. We also visited a permanent exhibit describing the Ball Store History. I liked seeing all the vintage items and describing them to my granddaughter. We also toured a display for a local artist competition. The staff is super friendly and engaging. The center is immaculate and accessible. There is plenty of parking in their dedicated lot. Minnetrista is a great legacy from the Ball family to the community. Exhibits change and can be found on their website. I highly recommend a visit if you like art and history.

Muncie Brew fest! Great day and beautiful weather. Thank you for wonderful time and my first time…read morein Muncie. The building is very old, but well kept. They have so many rooms with different features on the walls. Old features like you would see in a cathedral. The event was crowded but not overly crowded. You were able to get through the fest in 1 1/2 hours. There was about 20 vendors to taste. I didn't know Indiana had so many breweries. We didn't eat in the area. I looked but couldn't find anything that sounded good. We wanted something different than a burger at the ale house. I look forward to exploring more of Indiana. After 4 years there is allot to see and do here in Indiana.

Madison Pavone who sings with Doc Peterson's band is a risk to the public. I have witnessed her engage in predatory behavior that made me lose trust in therapy and feel unsafe in my community. I first met Madison when celebrating my brother's birthday and she introduced herself as a licensed therapist and made an effort to befriend me. I later witnessed Madison offer to tell a known felon (with limited access to benefits like mental health counseling) what was "wrong" with him for the "right price" after she told him she was a licensed therapist at a local practice. Madison proceed to talk negatively about her clients and make fun of them after he asked if she worked with anyone that was actually crazy. After claiming she was only a therapist on business days, she compared herself from Dr. Jennifer Melfi from the Sopranos for being able to handle bad boys like Tony and was caught hooking up with the felon after he opened up about his troubled past and having a girlfriend who was bipolar. I later learned Madison was not licensed and was only a LMHC intern at Still Waters, where I had been going to therapy. I found out that Madison was Ball State student in the counseling psychology program and learned about me in her group supervision sessions and failed to disclose her friendship with me for over two months when I attempted to file a complaint. Observing Madison's behavior led to me not feeling safe at therapy and I ended up having to terminate because they would not accommodate the distress I was feeling for over 3 months, when I would see Madison in the waiting room of Still Waters. I ended up feeling like I could not focus on my goals or treatment and felt pushed out of the practice as soon as I brought up how Madison had targeted a vulnerable individual and failed to inform the practice of her friendship with me after hearing about my private and confidential information in group supervision sessions. I started to feel like I couldn't trust therapy at all. I didn't know Madison worked at Still Waters until I saw her in the waiting room one day because she was dishonest with me about her credentials and experience when I met her. I started going to therapy at Still Waters in October 2022. Madison approached me and befriended me in July 2023. I witnessed her harm people in August 2023, and didn't find out she worked at Still Waters until September 2023. I reported her in November 2023 and ended up terminating therapy in February 2024 because of this. I was only offered therapy over the phone in a condescending voicemail left by Cassandra Reidt after I called and cancelled an appointment and told them I wanted to terminate because I no longer felt safe. This made me feel sick. Madison's actions went against several ethical principals and rules in the field. I still struggle to see therapy as a safe place because of how Madison represented the field. Madison is very charming and knows how to manipulate people well. She will give you a sob story about struggling with her body image as a former basketball player and issues with disordered eating to make you feel comfortable opening up to her. But it doesn't seem like she wants genuine connection; it seems like she wants power and control and to exploit vulnerable people in the process. The lesson is, be careful who you talk to at bars. They may not be exactly who they say they are and may have bad intentions with you. Stay aware and stay safe.

They have a large selection of music for a variety of musical instruments. They had instruments for rent as well as for sale. It was clean and even though the selection of Christmas music wasn't huge, it was rather big for how small the store is. The staff was helpful and I was in and out really quick.
