Stopped in for a very QUICK bite to eat with co-workers. The food had great flavor & came very quickly. The service was great in accommodating that we didn't have long to sit and eat. I'll def return when i have more time.

Was passing by Savage's Ale House in Muncie and had to go out of my way for it. Been craving their mozzarella grilled cheese for a while and thought, "Why not? Who knows when I'll be in the area again?" Had to get some of that college nostalgia, and it was just as good as I remembered--if not better. Seriously, if you're nearby, go. You won't regret it.

I stopped by for lunch today and it was a great choice. Service was super friendly I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, which contained several breaded mozzarella sticks and came with a side of marinara. It was unique and delicious. The side salad I ordered was much more than I had expected for $4.50, it was better than the salad I had at a steakhouse last night. Servings are generous and prices are incredibly cheap. I was in the middle of my workday so I didn't have any beer but there was an impressive selection. Definitely would return here, highly recommend.

What a gem in downtown Muncie. The burgers are awesome. The sides are awesome. The prices are out of this world. We stopped in on a Sunday when they first opened at 3. I ordered a PBR and the server replied, we have $3 PBR pitchers today. Would you like a pitcher? Yes please!

Great food and great place to eat. Very affordable. Only drawback is that it's hard to find a parking spot.

Speedy and friendly service, tasty bar food. No ambiance to speak of and the chairs are uncomfortable and very beat up.

Ask the Community - Savage's Ale House

Is this a good place for a group of 10 to 15?

Hmmm I would lean towards no. Sometimes it's hard to just find a place for two people to sit together! If you go during non-peak hours, there is a room in the front where a group of fifteen could sit together.

Ok, so I'm 19 going on 20. Is this by any chance a place I can go for food? Oh, and what's the flavor range?

They asked for IDs as soon as we walked through the door. The age limit is 21 because it's technically categorized as a bar.

How great can the food be, really? Um, pretty freaking great, actually. I got a fish sandwich, which was a long filet of battered and fried fish, served on an ultra-soft hoagie roll, with a little lettuce and tartar sauce inside. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, and flaky and soft on the inside. It's the type of thing that I didn't want to stop eating, because the combination of textures was just perfect. Handhelds are served with a side, and I chose the side Caesar salad. It was an OK Caesar, and it did its job to satisfy my CaeSal craving. It comes with red onions on top, which is a choice. The service here was great. The restaurant has a big bar in the middle, with TVs showing sports. The whole place is surrounded by windows, so you can see out into downtown Muncie.

From the hostess, who helped us move from outside inside when it was too cold, to our server, everything from start to finish was so great! I opted for the shrimp tacos as well as the pom-pom margarita, and it was such a stellar choice. Overall, it was such a great experience, and I can't wait to go back when in Muncie!

What a pleasant surprise to find this small brewery (literally) on the south side of Muncie! When…read moreI pulled up to this place, it looked like any other strip mall/industrial office space. Even when I stepped inside, the lobby looked like an office with some merchandise of the brewery on hand. I was greeted by the mom of the owner and she welcomed me back into the brewery (it looks like a big garage) where the vats sit out just behind the bar. I grabbed one of the seats and decided to go with a flight ($7) of five of the six beers. They weren't arranged in any particular order on the taps, so I didn't necessarily drink them in the optimal order, but I was pleased with the flavor on all of them! I started with a Hopscotch Scottish Ale with hops (4.4% ? IBU) that had a pleasant blended flavor where the hops were forward, but not overpowering. I moved on to the Moe's Cream Ale (5%, 10) which seemed especially sweet after the hopped scotch. Very smooth and tasty! The amber (5.3% ?) was probably my least favorite of the flight. It was okay, but didn't stand out from the others. The White River Stout (4.8%, 34) was a little different from most stouts I've tried. It had the deep rich coffee flavor, but there was a hint of some mystery flavor I still can't quite identify, but would say it was almost tart....but not in a bad way. Just a nice flavor with a little something extra. I finished off the flight with the Black IPA (8%, 81) which was another good beer. Plenty of hops, but not overly bitter. I did get to sample the Windy Kilt (Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy) and was surprised that for 9% (27 IBU) beer, the alcohol didn't overpower the other ingredients! It was delicious and balanced. Probably the most enjoyable high alcohol beer I've had! Right now, the space is a bit cluttered and isn't big enough to meet a bunch of friends. It also closes at 6 p.m. during the week. But good news is that the owner is trying to reopen a taproom nearer to downtown (Hoyt and Liberty) late in the summer. From what I was told, it should have plenty of parking and lots of space for customers AND equipment. Not sure if the operations will close on the south side, but even if they brew one place and serve at another, that would be a definite improvement to the visitor experience. I got to talk with a couple of the folks who work there and one of their customers while enjoying my visit. Seems like a friendly group that like to share good stories and listen to a few of mine. Good place! A definite place to bookmark, especially if they get their new expanded location. Review #2622
