I'm not usually one to leave glowing reviews, but I just had to share that the drinks, food, and overall atmosphere were, in my opinion, the best in a 30-mile radius. I had such a great time my first time here, and I'm definitely planning to return. The karaoke was fantastic, though I wish it had run a bit later--definitely a missed opportunity. The bartender heavy set, black hair, she's very rude she talks to you like you're an idiot if you're trying to ask about something food-wise or jukebox. She doesn't put the order in for food and then when you're sitting there waiting for hours for your food and then you go talk to her about it she treats you like you're the one who did something wrong. and the damn Jukebox don't bother wasting your money on it, in the middle of your song she'll turn it down to where you can't hear it so she can have a personal conversation with patrons that are sitting at the bar. I understand if some patrons being rowdy or disrespectful I can understand being rude to them but being rude to somebody who's just trying to ask a f****** question is a little too much. Honestly I'm never going back there because this is not my first encounter and plenty of their people have told me they experience this with her as well. read more

Called in an order for a breaded tenderloin sandwich and a mushroom and Swiss burger yesterday. Picked it up, got it home, and enjoyed every bite. Tenderloin was crispy, burger had plenty of mushrooms. Everything was exactly how I ordered it. There isn't any side served with sandwiches, but I knew this so all was as expected. The vibe was very unwelcoming. Do not go here unless you are a right wing racist. Then you will be fine. Our racially diverse party of 4 did stay- we weren't going to let them intimidate us. They stared at us- we stared back. The whole place smells like a nasty dirty astray- they do smoke in there. We chose to sit outside on their covered deck. It was decent- and for awhile we had it to ourselves. The only reason I awarded 1star is because the person who served us was very nice and attentive to our needs. The food was okay. Disappointing that you can only get baked potato Friday-Sunday. I felt terrible because I'm the one who suggested this place- solely on the Yelp reviews. I have been waiting to try this place since we moved to Anderson Indiana. Today my way to Anna (mystical beauty she is) decided it was time for us to celebrate Because it was Friday the 13th! When she asked me where she would like to go I have recommended we try on Broadway because I wanted her to have a traditional Hoosier tenderloin sandwich. I had bookmarked this restaurant because they serve the traditional one. So when we came to the restaurant which is located on 44 Jackson St., we were so glad to see it's filled with people enjoying themselves and I think the manager of the store is absolutely gorgeous inside out! She treated us like royalty and we ate several things all the cards because we wanted to try a lot of things so we had some French fried onion rings absolutely perfect! Nachos with cheese that were amazing and they're not stingy with the cheese sauce it's quite a lot and served in the crock too. Then a basket filled with deep-fried mushrooms with the horseradish sauce... spectacular and large mushrooms! And now the pièce de résistance that Hoosier pork tenderloin sandwiches. You might as well call them Shields because they're so big that it's beyond anything that has ever been classified as a sandwich and one might consider. When they came to the table we were so happy to see them in a little bit worried because we're only two people! LOL anyway we dove in headfirst and came out breathing! When he came to our attention that we were being waited on by the manager her self "Casey"is her name and I recommend you ask for her when you come in because she is amazingly sweet and wonderful way to us as well. She brings a lot to the table for this restaurant and bar the place is absolutely a joy to be in. No matter if you live in Indianapolis and you're having to drive over from Muncie Indiana you go to check out On Broadway! And tell them you saw this review on yelp! I have been trying tenderloin sandwiches around Anderson, trying to find the tastiest one. I went to On Broadway today based on a recommendation I found here on Yelp. The sandwich was big, but not juicy and tasted old. It was overcooked and not very flavorful. It wasnt bad by any means but i have had much better around this area. The chips were good and the fried mushrooms were a nice offering. However, the sauces I was given were dated 10/5 and 10/9 which means they had been prepared and sitting in the kitchen for nearly a month. I had a feeling I was headed for stand bar-level food quality but overruled my better judgement in an attempt to give all tenderloins in Anderson a fair shake in my quest for the best. I graduated from Anderson University in 2000. I first heard about On Broadway during my junior year when two of my roommates (who were 21) started going there for dinner every week. I turned 21 in December of that year and started joining them. At first I didn't understand their obsession with the place. A dark, smoky bar that looked like all the others in Anderson. Still, the place had character so I kept going back with my roommates and before I knew it, my entire social life revolved around people I'd met at OB's or other friends who went there as frequently as me. No pool table but the dart machine and jukebox kept us entertained around our conversations. Then I tried the food. For less than $5 you can have the best burger in the city or an enormous pork tenderloin sandwich. Add amazing bread sticks, steak fries or waffle fries for a little more. If you don't want a sandwich, the steaks and chicken breast entrees are also very good. Presented on a styrofoam plate, the food may not be much to look at but once it's in your mouth, presentation no longer matters. Just enjoy your meal with a quart of Coors Light, Miller Lite or Budweiser and leave satisfied. read more

After reading several reviews I finally got to trying On Broadway. This is a great little bar/restaurant. They have the best Club Sandwich I've had in years. I usually call and order it take away. The tenderloins are very good as well. Well-seasoned and just the right crunch. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They make a delicious dirty martini. Considering the wide variety of food and the small staff it is amazing they can get it out and get it right. I have only had one bad food order and I'm not going to go into it. Hidden gem is a good way to describe OB's. It's also a dive bar. Their food is pretty good for a dive bar-- some of the best burgers around. Today I had the stuffed peppers lunch special. It came with a small salad and garlic bread for $6.75. The flavor was good, but unfortunately it was only lukewarm and not hot enough. It also could have used a little more mozzarella cheese melted over it. But the portion was huge & I took one of the peppers home. My friend got the beef & noodles special which was also a huge portion. But he also said that his meal wasn't hot enough. Maybe only a three star place, but it gets an extra star for me for being independent, hard to find, unadvertised, a dive bar, mainly locals, and for having wifi. read more

I was in the mood for a tenderloin sandwich and was too late in getting to another restaurant before it closed. The tenderloin at On Broadway received mixed reviews from other reviewers but every restaurant has a bad day and I thought I would chance it. First, you should know this is basically a bar with a fairly extensive menu. Smoking is allowed here and though you are not hit with a wall of smoke upon entering, the smell permeates every square inch of the space and when you leave you too will smell of cigarette smoke. At 2:00 PM, the place was deserted save for a few regulars and as I looked around I saw they were trying to keep the place clean, the floor was vacuumed and the tables shiny. I ordered the tenderloin with the included homemade chips. Well, what can I say? The tenderloin was horrible. The meat tasted old, the breading was dry and the meat had long ago lost its moisture in epic case of overcooking. I expected the homemade chips to be fresh out of the fryer and sizzling hot, but no, they were served at room temperature so it was like eating them out of a bag. Hunting for something nice to say, I wanted to comment that the menu prices seemed reasonable. When I paid my bill, the sandwich was at a price 20 percent higher than on the menu. Been on breaded tenderloin tour during my visit to anderson..after tasting 5 tenderloin sandwiches from 5 establishments on Broadway is the winner...the waitress tells me the tenderloins are hand breaded. They also have hand made chips and nice side. I also had fried green beans for an appetizer. It is only fitting that my first review is about On Broadway or "OB's". While attending Anderson University over the past 4 years Ob's became our "Cheers", if you will. Not only serving amazing food such as the fish sandwich (always a favorite during lent for the casual Catholic), Prime Rib (weekend special), and ridiculously buttered popcorn (amazing while tipsy) but also offering a homey like setting that creates a special bond between towny and student. Service is always solid and our favorite bartender Darr, or "Dartender" as we like to call her, never disappoints with stories of the crazy 60's and 70's while we drink ourselves in oblivion. She is always punctual with the next quart when you go empty and has even given me a ride home after a couple rough nights. She is amazing with names and rarely ever forgets a face. These type of people give OB's a good name and without them it would just be another run down towny bar. read more
