Literally, the best patty melt that I've ever eaten came from this restaurant in Muncie. I tend to underestimate the food in general at brewpubs, so I'm sure it didn't hurt that I walked into Twin Archer Brewpub with middling expectations. But this place blew me away. And the fries! The fries were amazing, too. Rough cut and perfectly salted and piled high. They serve a lot of beers on tap, and I chose one called Anti-Hero. It was great, and I loved it so much that I came back later that evening to get another one. As I was sitting at my table enjoying my spectacular lunch, I noticed that they were playing some great tunes. Isn't it nice when you find a place with food that tastes great, and people who work there with great taste in music? One thing to note is that there's a 21+ adults section, and a general section for families. The family area has some games and things to play with while you wait for your food. read more

It has been a few years since my initial review of Muncie, Indiana's Twin Archer brewpub and it's time for an update. I've been here 2-3 times since my initial visit as it's a particularly close option for dinner to the Courtyard by Marriott at Horizon Convention Center. My guess is it's about two blocks. Twin Archer is locally owned and they source a lot locally. It seems like the entryway has improved a bit in terms of accessibility, especially on one side. The building is older and it's not perfect accessibility, however, it's clear that Twin Archer has made a solid effort with ramps at two doors (I definitely wouldn't say ADA, but I was able to make it work). After being somewhat disappointed with the tenderloin on my first visit, this time around I picked one of their burger options. I was able to special order it without cheese. I chose fries as my side, though I'm eating fries MUCH less these days. I was here with a couple friends this time - it was a pretty decent crowd on a Saturday night with all televisions showing the NCAA tourney. It was loud, but it wasn't intrusively loud. We could easily have conversations. Our server was a delight. I can't remember her name - I do remember she said she had four children under the age of six. Yikes. The burger was much more satisfying than the tenderloin for me. It was nicely cooked and just really hit the spot. The fries? They were lightly browned/seasoned and a decent-sized order. The iced tea was refilled - my friends were both drinking beers, however, I stuck with my usual iced tea. Over time, I've become somewhat affectionate about Twin Archer. The service is always solid, the effort at accessibility is appreciated (they have both tables and table/booths), the atmosphere is comfortable, and I enjoyed the food quite a bit more this time around. Thus, I'm going to up this rating from a 3-star to a 4-star. Truthfully, I should have done it sooner. The clientele were fairly diverse here and there's a sign indicating that all are welcome here. That's certainly how they act and I've been consistently impressed. Downtown Muncie continues to not have a ton of options, though it has improved somewhat. Twin Archer is still a go-to for me and there's no question I'll be back in the future. I told myself after the initial 3-star rating that I'd try it again - I have and I've been pleased. After waiting 5 minutes to be seated in an almost empty restaurant and then another 10 minutes to even get menus, we looked at the menu and decided that the food looked pretty mediocre and decided to just try some of the beers and different drinks. Well apparently the waitress didn't like that as she rolled her eyes and was just completely rude and acted as if we were a huge inconvenience to her. I would understand if we were taking up a table in a busy restaurant but there were empty dirty tables all around us. After she brought us our bill she rolled her eyes once again and just walked off. Wouldn't even recommend this place specifically because she's such a negative person to be around. Cool place and pretty chill. You can draw on the paper table clothes, which helps pass the time while waiting for food. We did have to wait an extended period of time waiting for the host to seat us when it didn't seem busy, which was odd, but service overall was friendly. My sister loves the mac n cheese here (she usually gets the four cheese), so I tried the mushroom and kale (w/o mushrooms). It was pretty good and cheesy! read more

When is the best time to go to Twin Archer? For us it was just after 3 pm. We were alone for our dining, but that didn't mean we didn't get fresh hot food and great service! We tasted both the specials in burger and soup. The burger was a piled on deliciousness of pulled pork and onion rings. The soup was a silky, seasoned carrot and ginger (so good I got a bowl to go for later; it was even better the next day. Love this bar/restaurant. read more

My go to place in Muncie for a local restaurant! Their tomato soup has dill in it, and it's super creamy which makes it the best tomato soup I have ever had by far. Their BLT is perfect to pair with the soup, and I can't seem to change my order anytime I go. Service is always good, and the ambiance is cool/chill bar vibes. read more

First time visiting. Exterior is inviting, with wood siding facade and brick above. Good atmosphere inside. Brown paper toppers for tables are a rustic look. Loved the buffalo chicken sandwich. My husband, our 4 kids, and I LOVE Twin Archer. We used to live in Muncie and went all the time, at least once a month. We moved two hours away and still make time to stop in Muncie just to eat here. The food is phenomenal every time. The service is great, the employees are always so nice and understanding. The ambience is great, my husband and I LOVE the music and the vibe. Good and drinks were great and service was excellent. One concern sit on the side opposite the bar. We sat in the bar area and I'm not sure what cleaner they had used but the smell was that of peppermint and it affected my smell to the point that it made the food actually taste like the smell. We tried to eat at Twin Archer tonight and after an hour we were still waiting for our dinner. The tables on both sides of us arrived after us and were served, ate and left while we were still waiting on our order. We didn't even order anything special, just burgers. When we asked our server about it she said it was coming up but she said that same statement about 30 minutes earlier. When we finally said our service was unacceptable and asked to speak to the manager, she told us she was the manager. We never heard an apology for their lack of service and when we said we weren't going to pay for the non-existent meal, she threatened to call the police on us. I even asked for her name and she refused to give us her name. We've been patrons at Twin Archers for years and have never experienced anything like this in the past. Please think twice about eating here, unless you want an extremely rude manager to serve you. read more

Came in for lunch a little afternoon 12 on a Saturday. Neat little place in downtown Muncie with a wooden / cabin look. It's off a 1-way street that offers the parking for the establishment. Restaurant has 2 entrances, 1 that goes directly into their bar area and a 2nd as a family entrance into their family dining portion of the restaurant. Our server, Ruby (?), was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered the pickle spears as an app, which had a unique semi-thick & sweet breading to them. They claim it's simply from their beer batter. Not my favorite, but not bad. My wife ordered a spinach salad with goat cheese and a tomato soup that she very much enjoyed. I ordered their Blue Meanie special which was a bleu cheese & mushroom burger. Their burgers are smashed, which also isn't my favorite, but it's alright. I did like the fries that came with the sandwich as they were basically a home-cut style. Only real negative was that it seemed to take a decent while for our lunch to come out, but otherwise all good. I would return to try it again. read more

Great smash burger and fries. My party of three all had burgers and everyone enjoyed theirs. I had the Smoke House which had the right blend of meat, bacon, Gouda and chipotle mayo. No one flavor was more over powering. The burgers are on the thicker side for a smash style burger which is a nice change. The other two had the Bullseye Burger. They have a nice assortment of beers in cans and on tap too. I was headed out of town after eating so I opted for Diet Coke. read more

I normally try to stay away from giving small businesses bad reviews, but I have to be honest and save my fellow comrades from a horrendous experience....DO NOT GO HERE!!! Thought I'd take some family and friends to a cool new spot and I was sadly mistaken. This is NOT a cool spot!! First of all, the employees didn't seem to care at all about anything...It took an hour to get our food and 20+ minutes for drinks. It wasn't even that busy!!! Also, my fiance's burger was undercooked and pink/bloody in the middle... The place was dirty like it hasn't been deep cleaned in months. I was so embarrassed taking my family and friends there. A stop we always forget about in Muncie. Its been a lot of places, but we hope this one sticks around. Full beer/cider menu and some wines to pick from. My husband got the burger and said it was good. However, their French fries are outstanding. Very crisp and have large seasalt chunks on them. I would order fries as an appetizer. I ordered the goat&greens salad. It was outstanding. It had candied walnuts and cranberries with mixed greens. Goat cheese and a tasty vinegrette. My 4 star is for seating. This place is small and they have put lots of tables in close proximity. We heard every word of the other tables conversation and found it difficult to talk and visit without feeling too loud (this could be to the high cielings and wood floors). After going to another brewpub nearby that completely ignored us - we came here. The vibe was chill. Music was good. Creative atmosphere. Cauliflower "wings" were excellent! Hot, soft fried goodness with just about any sauce although the maple chipotle glaze is sweet and delectable without too much spice. Hummus veggie pita plate good to share with tasty hummus that doesn't taste bland and has good texture. My friends got sandwiches/tenderloin (the "Hoosier Cardiologist") and these were all large portions with fries or slaw included. I regret getting the super food salad which was flavorful but not as filling as I'd hoped. The shredded chicken I added was dry and honestly tasted expired in some bites which was really offputting. Clever salad though with pumpkin seeds, flax, and dried fig slices. Needed grilled chicken option to add to make it a legit meal. Nice attentive server. read more

I think we may have had a temp cook or someone who was just filling in for the usual cook while we were there. Everything fried was overdone and dark/heavy. The table next to us was making comments about the same. Service was good, but the food just wasn't at the level all of the reviews provided. Salads were the best, and they were very good. My wife and I enjoyed a late Sunday brunch at Twin Archer. The place has two entrances: one is for family dining; the other requires ID for those 21+ who wish to visit the bar. So after angle parking in front of the building, we chose the bar side. The shotgun style layout has the 2 and 4 top tables on the right side of the bar area. The left side has some video game machines (free for patrons), and the bar with additional stool seating. Our waitress was friendly and after sharing the daily specials (note that Sundays only serve brunch items which are unique to the menu), she brought our drink orders and a glass of water served in a Ball jar. I went with one of the numerous drafts they have listed on a chalkboard by the bar. (I would prefer a paper menu for ease of reading since I was seated at the opposite end of the bar.) I selected the Breakfast Burger which comes with a 50/50 burger (half beef, half pork jowl bacon), cheese, fried egg (to order), sausage gravy, on a brioche bun. Really nice flavor and not so messy as one might think with gravy and a runny egg. It also came with a steak knife to slice it which also made it easier to handle. My wife went with a Monte Cristo sandwich with ham and cheese served on French Toast. She really like the French Toast, but thought the overall sandwich seemed a little dry. The little I sampled seemed fine to me, though I could see some sauce/syrup might have made it more pleasant for her. The flavor was really good. Everyone who assisted us throughout the meal was positive and helpful. I like supporting locally owned/locally sourced restaurants that have upbeat employees. The food is good but the service has really gone downhill, it that anyone is ever rude to us or anything but super disappointing when you wait almost 20 minutes for drink. Rose, our server, forgot things several times and kept checking on the table two tables over who already had their own server. Had to ask for the chance back more than once, she seems really sweet just maybe not the best for serving. Not sure what happened with service in the last 6 months or so but could definitely use some work. read more

Located in the White River Landing building, where I ate LOT of meals when I lived in Muncie, Twin Archer has retained much of the original atmosphere. I was doing a show in Muncie, and am trying to eat my way through Muncie's tenderloins, and Twin Archer was on my list. On the menu, it's called the "Hoosier Cardiologist" and I was looking forward to a really good tenderloin. I have to say, I was more than a little disappointed. The texture was just....odd. I have no other way to describe it than odd. The flavor, too, was...odd. It wasn't BAD, mind you, but if you're accustomed to a hoosier breaded tenderloin you'll likely be disappointed. I saw some other tables getting burgers and they looked quite good. Although it wasn't a stand out experience, I think I'll return and try something else off of the menu. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a date night, and really enjoyed our time here. My wife had a salad that was loaded with spinach and cranberries and walnuts and a very good dressing. Sweet little spot in downtown Muncie. 1st time here and very surprised at how good the service, food and beer selection turned out to be. Came on a Wednesday night and it wasn't very crowded at all. Looks like there is 2 sides. Over 21 bar side and a family friendly side. I did notice a few full size video games placed throughout. From what I hear they are free to play. The menu had several items that sounded great and also they had a few daily specials. Waitress was super cool and up to date on everything. I took a peak at the menu before we got there so I already knew what I was ordering. The Cuban sandwich is always my go to when available and this one did not disappoint. Perfect amount of meats and the bread was just the right amount of chewiness. The fries seemed to be fresh cut and were good. My wife ordered the daily special chicken waffle sandwich that came with CHIPOTLE SYRUP. Damn was that syrup tasty. I recommend asking for that. I dipped my Cuban and my fries in it. They have 12-15 decent beers on tap and several more in bottles and cans. Just another nice little spot downtown that will have me coming back for more. read more
